The Journal

Chapter 14.

3 March, 8:56pm, 2003

We arrived back home 3 hours ago, and Oli took me out to get some bracelets because the weather is getting hotter, and I can't keep wearing Winter clothing apparently. Oli is so supportive and caring, just like Vic. As for Mike, we've both been avoiding each other. I was ashamed, and I think he was disgusted with me. I don't blame him, I would be too.

*****

"You and Mike need to talk,"I jumped at the sound of Vic's voice and shut my locker.

"No, we don't," I disagreed, turning to face him.

"Bonnie, it's now Wednesday. You haven't talked to each other since Saturday,"

"Maybe because he's avoiding me!"

"Because he doesn't want to make the first move! He's upset,"

"I highly doubt that,"

"Promise me you'll atleast try?" I sighed and looked at him; I couldn't say no to him. I hesitantly nodded and he smiled, pulling me in for a hug.

"Thank you,"

"Whatever," I rolled my eyes. "Now we have to head for class. Go!" He smiled and kissed my cheek before heading in the other direction.

"Slut," Alison giggled, pointing at me. I am not going to let her talk to me like that, so I did the thing that most mature people would do in this situation: Poke the tongue at her and flick the bird before walking off.

I handled that well, I think.

"Hey," Austin greeted. I sat next to him and smiled.

"Why are you and Mike not talking?" I froze.

"I don't know," I lied with a shrug.

"Whatever," he chuckled.

"I'm going to try talk to him today,"

"Try?"

"I have a feeling he's not going to listen,"

"He's no good for you anyway," Austin looked down at his book and started writing.

"Both of you have told me that about each other. What's going on?" I asked.

"Nothing." And that was the end of our conversation.

It was now lunch and I was going to talk to Mike. Well, attempt to anyway. I ignored my nerves, and walked over to the table where everybody was sat.

"Mike, can I talk to you?" I asked.

"Sure," he answered quietly. He stood up and we began walking away, feeling the guys wary eyes on us the whole time. We walked outside and looked around, seeing no one around.

"So. What do you want to talk about?" Mike asked, looking down at his feet.

"I think you know the answer to that," He didn't say anything.

"Look, Mike. I know you provably hate me but -"

"You think I hate you?" He cut me off, averting his attention from the ground to me.

"Honestly, yeah," I nodded. Mike surprised me when he grabbed my waist and pulled me into his chest, placing his hands on my lower back and burying his head in the crook of my neck.

"I could never hate you Bonnie,"

"Then why were you ignoring me?"

"Because I was upset with myself that I didn't realise. I should've known. Whenever you wore warm clothes in hot weather and we would ask about it, you would freeze and make up an excuse. I should've noticed!" He punched the tree that was next to us and I flinched.

"Mike, I didn't tell anyone. It's not something you should notice,"

"But I know now, and it was so... Obvious. Why else would Vic be so open with you? God, I'm so stupid!"

"Mike! Calm down! You're not stupid. It's okay now," I whispered.

"You can't do this again," he whispered back, gently grabbing my wrists and pressing a kiss to my lips. Butterflies exploded in my stomach as I kissed him back. This has never happened before. What am I doing?

"We should head back inside," Mike murmured against my lips.

"Okay," He smiled and kissed my cheek before grabbing my hand and walking back toward the cafeteria.

"Well looky here!" Tony smiled, glancing at our hands.

"So you guys are back on good terms then?" Austin asked through clenched teeth.

"I guess so!" I smiled.

"That's great!" Jaime smiled, although it looked fake. I decided to leave that alone. Oli was frowning and looking down.

"C'mon then guys. Sit down." Alan said. I sat down next to Alan and smiled at him, nudging his shoulder with mine.

I walked into Cafe Indigo and ordered my drink before accidentally walking into someone. Lucky I didn't spill my drink.

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" I apologised.

"It's okay," they laughed. I looked up and seen the pretty waitress Austin was checking out on our first "date".

"Hey, I remember you! I served you and that guy awhile back!"

"You did! My name's Bonnie," I shook her hand.

"Hey Bonnie, I'm Stella," she shot me a stunning smile. "Would you like to sit down?"

"Sure," I smiled back.

"Okay, Just let me order my latte. I'll see you in a minute." I nodded and sat down at a table. A few minutes later, she joined me. We started talking and it was really nice to chat to a girl. Stella was 17 and she was home schooled, and she was a model. I wasn't really surprised at that. We actually lost track of time and spent until closing time talking.

"Well, my dad and cousin are picking me up. How are you getting home?" she asked me when we were outside.

"I'm walking," I shrugged.

"But it's dark! We can give you a ride home. Dad won't mind,"

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"Of course!" Stella smiled. "Look, here they are now!" A blue Volkswagon pulled up and the person I the passenger seat rolled down their window.

"Kellin?"

"Hey Bonnie," he waved.

"You two know each other?" Stella asked.

"Yeah, I hang out with her at school,"

"Oh cool! Dad, would we be able to give Bonnie a lift home?"

"Of course. Get in," Stella and I sat in the backseat and we all started talking. Stella's dad and Kellin's uncle's name was Bryce, and he was really sweet. They dropped me off home and I swapped numbers with Stella before before heading inside.

"You said you were going to be home straight after school," Dad said, standing in the doorway.

"Um, change of plans," I muttered. "Why do you care?"

"I wanted to have a talk with you, but it's very late now,"

"It's only 9 o'clock,"

"I have to get up early for work and I was heading to bed. But tomorrow we need to talk about school. They called up earlier telling me you and a certain Mike Fuentes have been skipping a few classes," Shit, I thought. I could also come home late tomorrow too...

"And if you do not come home fomorrow, then I will ground you,"

"Okay..." I sighed, going upstairs to my room. I closed the door behind me and changed into my pyjamas before lying in bed. I waS so in trouble.
