My Words Cut Deep

I Can't, Stop or Slow Down, I Never Have and I Never Will

-Austin’s Point of View-

Austin’s heart broke as Skyla told him that this happy little girl had a heart problem. His genetic heart disorder had passed on to her in some way. Although he should have already speculated since he knew his heat problem was genetic. It didn’t help that he wasn’t close to being used to the fact that he had a kid. Looking up to see Skyla leaving he waved a goodbye and headed towards the driver’s seat. Pamela and him shut their doors at the same time and smiled at each other.

Turning his head he looked back at Eliza and smiled. “You ready?” The little girl giggled and nodded excitedly. Right after that they took off toward Disneyland to meet up with the others. “You get to meet daddy’s friends today and there’ll be a little boy your age too.” The word daddy was foreign to him, but it brought a small smile to his face when he said it. “Really!” Austin Glanced in the review mirror to see her hands clasped together and a huge smile on her face. Turning to Pamela he smiled, this was a new experience that he was enjoying.

After a while they arrived in the parking lot, Eliza getting more excited in the back seat as she was starting to see things. Austin smiled as he got out of the car, making his way around the car to get his daughter out. Unbuckling her he lifted her up. “Do you want to sit on my shoulders?” She nodded and he swung her up on to his shoulder. He could feel her small hands holding on to his head, and a small giggle emanated for her. Looking up he saw that Pamela had taken a picture for Instagrams. “Don’t worry, no names.” Austin nodded and walked beside her as they went to enter the park.

It wasn’t hard to find his group of friends, since they were all tattooed up and surrounded by some fans. Those guys had been so supportive after he had told them about Eliza. If it wasn't for Pamela and the guys he would have been at loss for what to do. Walking up to them slowly so he could miss the group of fans. “Hey guys.” The group turned to face him and they all had smiles on their faces when they looked at his shoulders. Raising his hands he lifted Eliza off his shoulders and held on to her. “Everyone this is Eliza.” His voice came out smoothly. Looking at Eliza she was starting to hide her face. “Eliza you remember Alan?” He watched as her eyes followed to where he pointed and the shyness disappeared and smile was on her face. “Okay, well then that super smiley guy is Phil and his wife Sophia. That super happy guy there is Tino and Rachel. Then that’s Aaron and Mackenzie. Finally the little boy in front of Phil waving at you is Nicolas his nephew.” He slowly pointed to each one, listing off who they were and Eliza nodded as she repeated their names.

Shortly after everyone said their hellos he put Eliza on the ground. He watched as the little girl reached up to hold his hand. This brought a warm feeling within him and it was something he never wanted to stop feeling. The whole group started walking through the park, stopping at rides and stores.

Eventually, later in the day Eliza had grabbed on to Pamela’s hand as well as Austin's dragging them to anything frozen. Or at least tried to drag them. Austin couldn’t help himself he spoiled her buying her things and going on rides with her. They made their last stop before lunch at the Tea Cup ride. Eliza had let go of his hand and grabbed Alan’s, which Austin was glad to see a smile finally appear on his face. The whole group almost took up half the Tea Cups. Eliza was wedged between Alan and Tino in another cup across from Austin.

At lunch he got chicken fingers and fries for Eliza, a garden salad for Pamela and a burger for himself. Everyone was seated around a couple picnic tables. Austin had to reach over to Eliza to get her attention away from Nicolas to eat. She giggled and started to drown her fries in ketchup. Austin wrapped an arm around Pamela and watched as the group interacted and laughed with each other. The two kids of the group giggling and playing games. For a first trip with Eliza, it was perfect.

Smiling softly at Eliza he reached over and stole a fry. “Daddy!” She yelled at him. Everyone looked over to the pair and Austin knew why. It was weird to hear but almost beautiful because everyone had always told him he’d make a great dad. “How are you feeling Eliza bee?” He again stole another French fry and she tried to give him an angry face but it broke out into a smile. “Good.” Not a second after his phone went off and it was Skyla. Swiping answer he handed the phone to Eliza.

“Hello?” The little girl was confused but it changed quickly.
“Hi mummy!” There was a short pause before Eliza started listing off a bunch of things.
“I went on rides and I had cotton candy and I took pictures and and and I got to meet Elsa! Mummy I got to meet so many princesses! Awtin said I could be a princess! I made lots new friends toooo.” She giggled and stayed quiet as her mother spoke. Austin watched in awe at the little girl he made, it was then he started to see things of himself in her. Her personality, her looks they all matched with Austin.
“My heart is happy, is your heart happy?” Austin was taken out of his slight trance at the odd question. Glancing at Pamela she as well had a bit of a confused expression.
“Okay mummy, I love you! Bye bye.” She made kissing noises before holding the phone out to Austin.

Austin took the phone seeing that Skyla had hung up and he placed it on the table. “Elizabeth, can I ask you a question.” As he watched her stuff her face with chicken she nodded. “Why did you ask if your mum’s heart was happy?” He knew it was a loaded question to ask a four year old, for all he knew it was a way of expressing happiness. Through a full mouth she mumbled. “Mummy has a sad heart, doctors have to make it happy.” Austin bit the bottom of his lip in thought. That meant not only did Eliza have issues because of him but her mother as well. In that moment he decided that he needed to do whatever he could to be in his daughter’s life. Just like his mother, he never knew when things could happen.

Getting everyone to clean up the group set off to finish the rest of their day. Austin watched as his little girl played with every member and Nicolas. Laughing and enjoying herself. He slipped his arm around Pamela’s waist once again and walked behind the two giggling children. A big smile plastered on his face..
