Family Never Fails

.....and the bullet that was flying found its mark in my father's chest.

He fell over, dead by the one small piece of metal. There was a shocked silence. The gun that went off wasn't my dad's.

It was Ryker's.

Austin and I watched as the four remaining men drew their weapons, ready to send the traitor to oblivion. The silence was deafening with the exception of the choked sobs of Alan. I went over to my sister, stroking the stray strands of hair from her face. A shaky breath was let out by her as her lungs struggled to help supply oxygen to her fragile system.

Alan was still clutching to LP's form, but we were all stared at the body of Ryder. Stryke was standing there, ready to accept his fate. His eyes contacted mine for the moment. I couldn't believe he did that. He saved Austin's life. He saved the us from the immediate danger.

But there were still four fully armed men. We were all down to a stand off under the bright moon, and the witnessing stars. That's when the rumbling started.

I had felt this tremor only one other time, about two hours ago. When everyone was listening to Product of a Murderer and the entire thousand or so people all were jumping on the ground and moshing in the pits. There was that low rumble, the feeling of energy that lasted about four minutes.

I felt this once again. The four men turned away from Ryker/Stryke and were ready to blow our faces off and make a quick escape.

That's when the Sea of fans came to our rescue.

They all screamed, yelled, and charged. The four men never saw it coming. Actually, the sea of fans were lead by Tino, Phil, and Aaron. Everyone was armed with whatever they had. Some men had trashcans, others had a baseball bat, a few women held their purses, swinging them around their heads.

It was the most beautiful sight I'd ever seen.

They tumbled over the four men, who never had a chance to even pull the trigger before they were all trampled. I was tossed into the sea of motion, and I nearly fell into a man, who picked me up.

"Why are you putting yourself in danger for us?" I screamed to him. He grinned and dodged a right hook from someone. It landed on the short blonde man who threatened us.

"Because that's what family does for each other! Fans are family!" He screamed and dove into the crowd again. A few people echoed his war cry as the moral went up.

We were surrounded all at once, in one large, violent, life saving mosh pit. The unfortunate part was that I got tossed around, away from Austin, Alan, and my mom's body. They all stood protectively in their own circle, but I was tossed into the pits. Just as I tumbled and was nearly stepped on, a hand hauled me up and hugged me close to his body.

It was Ryker.

He had his body against a wall, away from the main violence of the pit. I heard the yelps of the four men as people attacked them, holding them down and disarming them. He tightened his arms around me, protective against the violent blows. Something had cut a long gash on his arm. When part of the violence died down, he let go and stepped away, looking down at me sadly.

"I'm so sorry." He replied. I was speechless at the man who kidnapped my sister. With that, he disappeared through the giant mosh pit.

That was the last I saw of him.

I made my way back to Austin, who wrapped me up, still bawling into my shoulder. Within minutes, the police found the crowd like this. The mosh pit had died down a little, and ten men were standing, triumphant in their conquest. The police detained the five men, and removed both bodies. The crowd was still meandering around. Austin, Alan, and I jumped on a large green trash bin.

LP was still in critical condition and we needed to get back, and quick.

People cheered as he got up. I could see Tino, Aaron, and Phil in the back. Everyone quieted down as Austin began to speak through his tears.

"Thank you all for your help. We owe you guys our lives, but we have our friend, who was shot. We need to get to the hospital, and quick!" He yelled. Without warning, the crowd held up their hands, ready to catch him as he jumped into their grasp. I leaped with him, knowing that the fans would catch me. Alan was taken next, still holding LP.

This was the second most beautiful thing I'd seen all day. All the crowd moved as one, storming us out of the alley. We all moved in an even motion, possibly being the smoothest crowd surf I'd ever done. Alan was still clutching LP close to him.

Men were shouting direction, telling us the nearest hospital was ten minutes away. After getting out of the alley, the fans ran towards the hospital, carrying us as one large swarm. Cars on the busy road stopped to stare.

Even in the dark, I got an estimate of how many people there were. It wasn't just twenty or thirty people kind enough to help us.

It was nearly all of the fans. It had to be hundreds upon hundreds. The look on their face was determined, and they were eager to help their favorite band. Austin rode at the front of the crowd and I was moved up next to him. Alan and LP were gently being handled to the front. Tino, Phil, and Aaron were sprinting up at the front, struggling to keep pace with the hurried crowd.

We made it to the large building within six minutes.

It was the longest six minutes I'd ever felt.

Everyone swarmed to the doors and waited outside. Alan and LP were settled down gently as someone held the door and the ginger ran in, carrying my sister. Austin and I were quick to follow.

The nurses took my sister away to the ER, rushing her into emergency surgery. I didn't know if that would be the last sight of my little sister, or if she would be fine.

Austin just held me as we walked outside. The crowd of hundreds were still there. Everyone managed to find a place, leaving an isle for people passing in and out of the doors.

"She'll be fine." Austin wiped his own tears away before telling me this. I just had to look in the most positive light. The three band members joined Alan and I. Alan was beyond distressed. Some people came up to us, consoling us for what had happened. The same man who I ran into in the pits stood on a bench.

"FANS ARE FAMILY!" He cheered. Everybody echoed that sentiment with him.

Fans are family.

And family never fails.
