Stryke's POV

Hex and I had to back track a few hours and now were behind the group when Storm had called in over radio and we all agreed to change in plan.

"Yo Stryker dude, how's she doing?" Hex asked me. I sighed a little. Even though I was Stryke, they still called me Stryker on occasion. We picked up the small child in an minute. It was an easy kidnapping. As a group, we'd never done something like this before. There was to much evidence that couldn't be rid of, but the situation called for it. Hex had left a note that wouldn't be found for the next few days or so. It was perfect.

I peeked behind me at the blonde nine year old. It was Ryder's youngest daughter, and I still couldn't believe that he wanted to use her, but he seemed to be out of touch recently. Ryder said he didn't care how we took her, just as long as she was alive. He told us that this was all about cleaning up our mistake and he wanted us to help him take back his daughters, but now I had a feeling he not looking to goal number two, and was focused on eradicating Austin. Ryder...didn't seem to care about his daughters anymore.

That scared me a little.

"She's fine." I responded. The kid was passed out cold in the backseat. We had tied her up and blinded her, so she couldn't see where we were going, but didn't seem awake. Hex grinned as we got back on the familiar Nevadan road.

"She'll be awake in two hours about. That was some potent stuff you put on there. I see why you are the weapons expert now." Hex joked. The silver eyes flicked between me and the road. I had sent Rae a text, talking about some band that I had researched that she liked. Hex sighed.

"Talking to Ryder's oldest again?" He sighed. Annoyance was clear in his voice.

"Yes. She says she totally ships Jalax." I stated flatly. My mind flickered to her out in California. Ryder said he sent ahead another letter to Austin's place, but didn't tell me much more of the plan. It seemed that he and Hex were on some part of the plan we didn't know.

As much as I knew Rae might just be a beautiful price to pay for Ryder's ultimate goal, I now really wasn't sure I was willing to pay that price. It was to precious, to special, to close to me.

"What'd you tell her your name was?" He asked.

"Ryker." I responded, staring down at the screen. She was gushing over how she could totally see Jack and Alex together. I sighed and responded before setting down my phone. Rae always got excited between her 'ships'.

"Stryker, dude, you've been texting her for the past hour on the road. This doesn't seem like 'just getting information'. This seems different." Hex warned me. I sighed and checked on our passanger again. She stirred a little, but her breathing was even.

"It was, and then we got sidetracked." I lied evenly. Hex grunted and focused in silence for a moment before turning back to me.

"Stryker, Ryker, who's lying to me right now? Only one is telling me the truth about what's happening." Hex told me. The liquid silver in his eyes went steel solid. I took his words into consideration.

"I don't know anymore." I admitted. The next hour was sitting in silence, on the blazing Wednesday afternoon.

As took a third look at our backseat passanger, I saw her tremble a little, but didn't mention that she had awoken to Hex. At that instant, I felt a little bad for the poor kid. She was stuck with strangers that had taken her from her last parent. A wave of guilt poured through me.

If I could, I would try to make things right.
