Would You Still Be There
9 - Alan
"What was that whole boyfriend thing your mom was talking about yesterday?"
I looked up at Austin, flustered. I tried to search my mind for a believable explanation, drawing up a blank. The longer Austin looked at me, waiting for an answer, the more nervous I got.
I quickly wiped my sweaty hands onto my pants, awkwardly avoiding Austin's gaze. The prolonged silence started to get awkward and I knew I had to give an answer sooner or later.
"Sorry, what did you say?" I managed to sputter out, pretending I didn't hear him.
"You mom called me your boyfriend..." He answered, raising his eyebrows.
I faked a casual laugh.
"Oh.. you know how mom's are.." I answered lamely, receiving a questionable look from Austin.
He seemed to let it go after that, changing the conversation to our favorite music as we made our way off to school. I found myself getting lost in a conversation as we playfully fought each other over what was the "best" slipknot album.
Our previous conversation soon slipped into a comfortable silence as we trudged down the sidewalk. Pretty soon I spotted the familiar front entrance of the school peeking out between the trees. I sighed. Austin noticed my reaction, giving me a sympathetic smile.
Since we both had first hour English together, we decided to just head straight there so we could snag a coveted seat in the back.
To my delight, our teacher was sick today so we had a free period to do whatever we wanted. I let out a cheer, covering my mouth when I realized it was louder than I intended. I heard Austin let out a snort behind me and I cracked a smile.
We walked down the hallway to find a place to sit when Austin grabbed my hand and pulled me into an empty corridor. I let out a squeak of surprise, shooting Austin a questioning look. He smiled slightly, but a second later his face became serious.
"I'm gonna try something okay? Just.. don't freak out." He said biting his lip. Hot damn.
I became distracted from checking him out out when suddenly I felt his lips brush against mine.
My eyes widened, realizing he was kissing me. Oh. My. God.
Suddenly I came to my senses, grabbing his shirt and pulling him closer. I smashed my lips again him, letting out a whine. I felt Austin hesitate slightly, but he soon recovered, smashing his lips to mine just as hard.
We both started to run out of breath once he pulled away. I looked at him shyly, knowing my face was probably as red as a tomato. Austin looked flustered, but I could see a small smirk pulling at his lips.
"Uh.." I started awkwardly.
Before I could finish Austin just laughed, pulling me closer.
