My hero

The next the day, Laney woke up and was in pain all over her body. The previous night, she had cut herself all over. Her arms, her thighs, her stomach. Everywhere hurt and was sore, but still she had to drag herself out of bed to get to work. She showered, got dressed and picked up phone. As she jogged down the stairs, though, she looked at her phone and was surprised with what she saw. 7 missed calls and 26 messages from an unknown number. When she looked at the messages they all were saying things like "please call me" "are you alright?" "Laney please answer me". Laney didn't know who it was until she read this message: You didn't send me the video. Austin had texted her? But why? He didn't care about me, right? I walked into the mall and to hot topic, and I saw Austin standing there, with a worried look on his face.

"Laney! Thank god your okay! Why didn't you answer when I call or texted?!" He said, raising his voice slightly,

"I thought.... I thought you weren't serious. I thought you didn't care." Laney said sadly.

"Of course I care!" Austin looked down at her arms that she was rubbing through her sleeves.

"Lift your sleeves." Austin said sternly.

Laney was hesitant, but she knew she had to show him. She slowly rolled up her right arm sleeve and showed him the endless cuts. Austin's face turned to immediate sadness.

"Laney, why? Do you not realize how beautiful you are? I cannot bear to see you hurt yourself. I'm coming to your house and watching you flush your blades. Come on." Austin said, grabbing laneys hand.

"But Austin I need to work." Laney said.

"It's fine."



~~At laneys house ~~



"Shhhh, don't wake up my mom." Laney whispered as they walked upstairs. Laney led Austin into her bathroom and pulled out her box of blades. She knew that there was no other option. Austin would make her flush them.

"here they are." Laney said.

"Alright."

Austin in opened the toilet lid and gestured for Laney to drop them in. Laney did it slowly, but one by one, each of her beautiful blades fell into the water. Once all of them had fallen in, Austin flushed, and they all went down. Austin turned to look at Laney, and once they were eye-to-eye, Austin started leaning in, and soon his lips were planted firmly on hers. But before anything happened, Austin pulled back.

"Fuck. Laney, I didn't mean to do that. Your a great friend and really dear in my heart but... I have a girlfriend. I need to go." Austin said, running his hands through his hair. He left her room nap nd she heard his car pull out. Well... Laney still had one last blade. She took off her phone case, and one last blade fell into her hand.
