My hero

"Alright, here's my home." Austin said, as he opened the door and led Laney into his home.

"It's so nice in here!" Laney said

"Yea, It's home. So, do you want to sit and talk." Austin said kindly, gesturing to the couch.

Laney sighed, and sat down. She should be overjoyed that Austin Carlile invited her into his home, but she wasn't considering the circumstances....

"So Laney, why would you hurt yourself like this?" Austin asked sadly, looking at her wrist.

"Well Austin, it's really hard to explain. Well, actually it's not hard to explain, it's just kind of pathetic. My parents are assholes to me. They prevent me from being myself and living my life the way I want to. And well.... I get bullied,a lot.... I'm really insecure about how I look. I mean, look at me, I'm over weight and I'm ugly! One time this guy.... He asked me to meet him behind the school to ask me so,ETHIMG, and I of course got really excited, but when I got there the whole school was there, laughing at me. And then one of the popular girl came up and said to me 'you really thought he would ask you out? Puh-leese, a blind person wouldn't go out with you.' I just don't understand why people are so bad to me? I try my best to be a good person and nothing works." Laney said, with tears welling up in her eyes.

"Oh Laney it's okay." Austin said. He pulled her Into a tight hug and made soothing sounds.

"I think that what those people did to you is beyond wrong and if I ever see them, I will personally punch them in the face. But Laney, listen, you are beautiful. Beyond beautiful. Your not fat or worthless or any of the things you tell yourself. Understand?" Austin said To her.

Laney nodded her head.

"So what can we do to help you with your cutting, because I want to do anything I can." Austin said. "Oh, okay Laney, when I take you home, take a video of you flushing ALL your blades and send them to me." Austin said.

"Okay...." Laney replied quietly

"And if you ever feel sad or like your going to cut, please please text me. Give me your phone and I'll put my number I'm." Austin said.

Laney handed Austin her phone and watched as he typed his name I to her contacts. They sat together and talked about various other things, until there was a knock on the door.

"I'll get it!" Austin hopped up and jogged to the door and pulled it open.

A curly brown haired girl walked into the house and gave Austin a kiss on the cheek.

"Hey darling." She said.


"hey babe, this is Laney, I met her in the mall today." Austin said.

"Well hello Laney. How are you?" The unknown women called to her.

"I'm good thanks...." Laney trailed off. Austin was supposed to be single! He didn't have a girlfriend! This wasn't how things were supposed to go.

"Thanks for everything Austin . I'm going to head home now." Laney said.

"No! Just wait! I'm not going to let you walk! I'll drive you!" Austin said.

They walked out to his car together and he drove her home. He pulled up to her house, and as Laney was getting out of the car, Austin pulled her back in and began to speak, but them stopped.

"What?" Laney asked.

"Just..... Just uh.... Text me when you flush your blades." He said.

"For sure. Thanks Austin." Laney said.

She went inside and ran to her room and flopped on her bed. Who was she kidding? Austin was going to forget abut her the second he got home. He didn't care. She wasn't going to flush her blades. They were too precious, she was going to use her blades...
