Like Loving A Lion (SEQUEL to I'm Not That Perfect)

Thirty Eight; Pizza With Pickles

"I'm, like, four months pregnant and I look like a gimp." I complained for the billionth time as Austin and I went to the doctor for my amniocentesis.
"I've told you at least six times that you shouldn't call yourself a gimp in public." He replied. "It's rude."
"Fuck you. My stomach hurts and my arm are sore." I rolled my eyes. "This is retarded."
"Retarded. Also not politically correct." Austin said, trying not to laugh.
"I'm hormonal and if I hit you then I can't be held responsible." I said, carefully sitting on the exam table.
"Hello, you two. Ready to do the procedure?" Dr Hepburn asked, getting out his syringe. I squeezed Austin's hand when he stuck me and we were free to go. We would know if the baby had Marfan's or anemia as well as gender in less than two weeks.

"Have you ever just wanted to eat, like, pizza with pickles on it?" I asked dreamily at dinner with Austin.
"No." Austin replied.
"Everyone says you want ice cream and pickles, you know? But just thinking about that makes me want to throw up." I squeezed my eyes shut.
"You've eaten some pretty weird things in the past few months." He said.
"Like Coco Puffs and root beer?" I grinned. Austin cringed. "It seemed like a really good idea at the time, okay? The baby wanted it."
"Josiah wanted peanut butter and cheetos too, right?" He asked.
I laughed. "Josie is a weird kid." After Austin refused to stop calling the baby a boy named Josiah, I'd decided she was a girl named Josie.
"He's our weird kid though." Austin said affectionately. "Our baby. It's so nice to think about. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
"I got lucky when I met Jack, because if I hadn't met him, I wouldn't have met you." I said thoughtfully. "I remember the first time I met you I thought you were really hot. Like, really hot. But you were my friends with the guy I was hooking up with so I had to control the urge to rip your clothes off. God, I got around."
"Jack brought over this hot girl, and I figured this Avery girl he was talking about was some weird nerd. I was completely wrong." He recounted.
"I can't wait to tell Josie all about it. We probably shouldn't tell her the part about how we had casual sex for three months though. Not until she's older and we can embarrass her." I mused,
"'Hey, Josiah, you want to hear the real story of how me and your mom started dating? Basically I was tired of her walking around and having sex with other dudes, so I started having sex with her." He grinned.
I giggled. "We're going to be the coolest parents."
"You ready to go?" He asked. I nodded. Austin grabbed my hand to help me up and then draped his arm around my waist and we walked out together.
"Oh my god." He said. By the time we were almost to the doors we could see at least fifty people, maybe more, waiting outside the restaurant. They were clearly here for him; some had Of Mice & Men shirts on, others had signs.
"It's fine, baby. We can stop and say hi." I said in an attempt to soothe him.
"I love them, but they shouldn't be here in the first place." He said, slighly angry.
"Hi, Austin! Can I get a picture with you? And you too, Avery. You look great." The first girl stepped timidly forward.
"Of course." I smiled, answering for Austin. "Don't mind him, he's little grumpy today."
"How far along are you?" Another asked.
"Four months. Halway there." Austin grinned, glancing at my stomach.
"Can I see your ring?" Yet another asked.
I daintily held out my left hand. "It's from Tiffany. It's a funny story really. I'm a huge Audrey Hepburn fan, and me and Austin watched Breakfast at Tiffany's and I told him all about how much I love Tiffany's. That's-"
"That's why I knew to go to Tiffany's." Austin laughed.
"Is it true you're only getting married because you're pregnant?" One boy asked bluntly.
"No way. We were already married before this kid was conceived." I rolled my eyes.
"I wish we could stay here forever guys, but I've got to get my pregnant wife home. Love you all." Austin smiled.

Notes

hiii leave me feedback if you like how it's going ok? Sorry for being slow, my baby bearded dragon Sheldon passed away on Friday. I loved him a lot so I've been down and haven't really been writing. He had a disease called adenovirus and has had it his whole life without my knowing. I took him to the vet Friday morning because he hadn't eaten in a week and was on his deathbed Thursday night. I spent two hundred dollars on medicine and critical care food and he died that afternoon. He was severely emaciated and ill but he spent the last hours of his life with the person who loved him very much. I am still very upset but I know that it was not my fault and he's not sufferring anymore.
Sorry for the rant. I needed to vent. xx
