Like Loving A Lion (SEQUEL to I'm Not That Perfect)

Thirty Seven; LAPD

"I look massive! Va te faire!" I groaned, looking in the mirror during week fourteen. Austin was working all day and I also had work to do. We were already halfway done painting the nursery and had bought some furniture as well. I had painting to do and a house to clean.
"Hi, baby. And baby." Austin grinned when he came home, kissing me. "How are you?"
"We've had a busy day. We did the dishes, finished the laundry, vacuumed the floor and finished painting the third wall of the nursery." I beamed.
"You have been busy." He nodded. "You're working too hard, mommy."
"I'm getting ready for baby." I replied. "Speaking of getting ready, aren't we going out tomorrow?"
"The guys and I are doing a bunch of interviews about the album. We leave at nine."
**
"Look who it is! How's baby?" Phil asked when Austin and I showed up the next morning.
"Kicking." I said, breathing heavily.
"Already?" Alan asked.
"What do you know about being pregnant?" I asked curiously.
"It just seemed fast, that's all." He shrugged.
"It's a boy, you know." Austin beamed.
"It is?" Aaron asked.
"No! Dipshit over here is assuming it's a boy. We've not even gotten an ultrasound." I rolled my eyes. "I don't even look pregnant. I just look fat."
"You look perfect." Austin replied.
"Gross." Alan mumbled.
I sat down, still panting. This kid was very active.
"Are you alright?" Austin asked, looking worried. I couldn't blame him; when we found out I was pregnant again we'd both been terrified. I was afraid that my womb was cursed.
"Yeah, fine." I smiled weakly. "Baby's just moving a lot is all."
"You don't look like you're showing." Phil said.
I lifted my shirt up."I am. I'm just wearing his clothes instead of mine."
"They need you in five!" An assistant called. I went to my seat a few yards away from them to watch.
"Avery Marie! I heard the news, but wow. Congratufuckinglations. Who's the dad?" None other than Ronnie sat down beside me.
"Why are you here? Are you stalking me?" I asked shortly.
"Your husband isn't the only one who's got a band to work with." He replied. I stood up and he grabbed my arm. "If you walk away from me, I swear I'll hit you and that kid."
I stuck my chin in the air defiantly. "I'm not afraid of you anymore."
When I turned to walk away, he pushed me so that I would have fallen forward into the concrete floor and onto my stomach if Alan hadn't caught me. They were back.
"Call the police." Austin said shortly. "Aaron, dial LAPD."
Ronnie's eyes widened. I realized he was afraid. "No, come on man. My probation officer-"
"I have put up with you for so long. I have tolerated your presence on Warped, your repeated verbal and physical abuse of my wife, and now you try to harm our child. Grow up, Radke." Austin replied.
It was like watching a tennis match. "That kid is going to be so fucked up-"
Austin swung and hit him around the face. "Don't. It's one thing to talk that way about us, but don't you dare go there about an unborn baby."
"They're here." Phil said, pointing. Austin went to talk to them and the guys turned to me. "Are you alright? You're really pale."
"Uh, my ankle hurts." I said. "I think I might need to go to the doctor."
***
"Sprained. Moderate but you'll need crutches for a week or so." The doctor at the nearest hospital said to me three hours later.
"Lovely." I sighed. "Let's get them then."
"Okay. Thank you." Austin said into his phone, looking at me as the doctor left. "They got him. They booked him on domestic abuse."
I smiled. "Really?"
He nodded wearily. "It's not looking good for him, what with his record."
"So this is all going to be over?" I asked.
He nodded. "Soon. This is probably all over the news, Ave. People are going to find out."
The doctor came back with crutches and after adjusting them, we were ready to go. Austin had been right; there were already cameras and reporters as well as fans waiting outside the hospital.
"Do you want to talk to them?" Austin asked. I agreed to.
"Avery, what happened between you and Ronnie Radke?" Someone called.
"Obviously he hit me or he wouldn't be in prison." I replied dryly.
"Why didn't you speak up?"
"When you're a victim of domestic abuse, talking about is the most frightening thing in the world. I'm past that stage in my life." I replied. After that, I refused to answer any more questions. Austin got the car so we could go home.
"It's been a long day." He said.
I leaned my head on his shoulder. "Yeah, it definitely has been."
He kissed my forehead. "I love you though. And you too, Josiah."
"Josiah?" I asked. "So now you're naming our son- that we don't know is a boy- by yourself?"
"Yes." He laughed.
