Like Loving A Lion (SEQUEL to I'm Not That Perfect)

Twenty; 26

"Jesus fucking Christ!" I yelled in frustration. "I don't fucking have anything to fucking wear!"
"Language, darling!" My mère said as she walked past the open door to mine and Austin's room. I grit my teeth; My family had randomly decided to come visit and they were driving me up the effing walls.
"Oh. I forgot I bought this." I said. Austin had something planned for my birthday and I had no idea what. All I knew was that I wasn't allowed to leave our room until he said.
We were supposed to leave at seven and I was ready by 6:55, a personal best. I had just finished putting on my shoes when Austin came in.
"Wow," Austin grinned. "I'm the luckiest guy in the whole world."
I smiled, smoothing my dress. "I love you."
"Come on." He said, leading me downstairs.
"Where are we going?" I asked once we got to the bottom.
"Actually-"
"SURPRISE!" Literally all of our friends were waiting downstairs. Austin had thrown me a surprise party.
"You didn't!" I laughed. Once I'd told him how I'd always wanted a surprise party for my birthday but never got one since I'd asked for one. It took away the 'surprise' aspect.
"Anything for you." He grinned.
I threw my arms around his neck, kissing him in front of everyone. "I love you so goddamn much."
"I love you too." Austin smiled. "Forever."
"Hey, cut the PDA!" Vic yelled. I walked around, mingling with everyone. Our house was packed, thanks to Austin. I had a lot of guests to socialize with.
"Okay, I have an announcement to make!" Austin yelled an hour later, going to the front of the room. "Who wants to know what Avery got for her birthday?" Everyone cheered. "Follow me."
I had no idea what the hell was going on but I followed him anyways. Austin put his hands over my eyes and led me into the front of the house. "Open!"
I opened my eyes to see what I thought was the greatest present in the whole world; a new car. He'd gotten me the Mercedes G63 that I'd been wanting for ages. I'd never mentioned it but that didn't matter, he'd still picked up on it.
"Austin!" I cried as he handed me the keys. "Did you really?"

"I definitely did." He said, smiling smugly.
"Holy shit." My hands were shaking as I got in the front seat. "Oh my god. Oh my god. Austin!"
"Happy birthday, Princess. I love you." He said, leaning over for a kiss.
Slowly people began to leave until it was late and only our closest friends were left.
Austin stood up and started talking again. "So, how about that ride in? I guess we know why they call it Sin City? Ha ha ha."
"What is he talking about?" My mother asked.
I rolled my eyes. "It's from a movie, Ma. Sh."
"Six years ago I met Avery. She was twenty, I was twenty two. I was just getting through my divorce and she hated me from the minute we met. It was a nice distraction, really. But eventually we became friends and then I found out that she felt the same way about me as I did about her and I had never been so happy in my life. I'd thought I was fucked, liking someone who couldn't stand me. We were so happy together. I was so excited to be a dad. Rest in peace to our little baby. I messed up bad that night and I thought I'd lost her forever." Austin said. I could tell this was painful for him. "But then she let me back into her life again but at such a price. Happy birthday to the most beautiful girl in the whole world. I love you so so much and I'll never stop. Which is why," He said, digging in his pocket. "I picked up something else recently. Thanks to Alan and Chloe for helping me out with this."
My eyes widened as he got down on one knee. "I said all that to say. . . Avery Marie Carter. You are my life. Will you marry me?"
My eyes were wet. "Of course I will. Yes. Yes!"
Austin lifted me up, spinning me around. "I love you."
"I love you so much!"
Alex ran into the glass door, my mom was screaming, Chloe was crying, Vic was jumping, Alan was laughing, and my dad was really confused because English wasn't his strong suit.
"Holy shit!" Austin yelled. "We're getting married!"
"Congratulations, guys." Vic said, hugging us both. Alan took our picture so Austin could tell all his fans.
austincarlile: no one has ever made me so happy. I love you! We're engaged!

After everyone left we went upstairs to bed, still ecstatic. My heart hadn't stopped beating fast for two hours.
"I don't feel like I could ever sleep." I sighed happily, staring up at the ceiling. I glanced down at the ring on my finger. It looked like the most beautiful thing in the world.
"Mrs. Carlile." Austin said for the billionth time that night.
"It'll never get old."

"I love you. Get some sleep; we've got a wedding to plan."
