Luck Isn't Everything.

Nine.

“So what would you like to do? We can watch a movie, play board games, go in the hot tub?
Oli asked wiggling his eyebrows at me and laughing. We had just arrived at his house and he was showing me around.

“What kind of board games do you have?” I asked as we headed to his room. It was very dark and messy. He had posters covering up every inch of his walls, drumsticks, guitars, and sheet music everywhere, and a couple of microphones lying around his desk and his bed. A few bean bags were scattered across the room, mostly towards the wall with his video games set up and mini snack bar.

“We have Sorry, Boggle, Jenga, Twister, Uno, Monopoly, Life, Guess Who?, and so on,” he said showing me the closet full of board games.

“Twister? Dude, that’s my game.” I said pulling out the box.

“Your game? Darling, please. I would destroy you.”

“That sounds like a challenge.”

“Oh, yeah,” he laughed. Thirty minutes later we were on the floor trying to be made of elastic and reaching our color. I was so close to winning, all he had to do was get green on his left hand and it’d be over, but to my luck, he got blue and I ended up being the one tumbling down first with a fit of laughter, followed by his. We laid there for a couple of minutes before we heard the front door open and close.

“HONEY, I’M HOME!” We heard Matt say from the stairs. This caused us to have a bigger laughing fit that by the time Matt was in the room, we were crying and trying to breathe. “You played with Twister without me? I am very disappointed in you two!”

“Sorry, mate. Maybe next time.”

“Yeh, you’re lucky you’re my best mate. I would’ve already pummeled you,” he said helping us up. “Ready to go??”

“Yeah,” we said in unison.

When we headed to Matt’s I excused myself to go by my house and change. I was definitely not party-dressed and it was too cold to be in shorts this late in the afternoon. I walked home and saw Liam’s car parked in the driveway. I was glad because this meant I could just leave with him and not have to walk back all by myself.

“LIAM!!” I shouted as I walked in. I looked around the first floor to see if Mom was home so I could tell her I’d be out tonight, but she was nowhere to be seen.

“Upstairs!” He shouted back. I headed up and knocked on his door. “It’s open!” When I opened the door he was in front of the mirror putting a gray t-shirt on and a blue plaid button up shirt. He was wearing black skinnies, his hair was up, he had his nose ring in, and he switched to his black plugs.

“Hey, can you give you wait for me so I don’t have to end up walking by myself?”

“Sure, how long are you gonna take?” he said as he sprayed on some cologne.

“Give me ten minutes!!” I said as I rushed out of his room and into mine. I shut my door and instantly got out of my clothes, flinging them towards my bed, only for all of them not to make it and scatter on the floor. I rushed to my closet and began to look around frantically.

I grabbed a black pair of shredded jeans, a black tank top with an upside down cross and skulls, my black leather jacket, and a pair of studded black leather ankle booties. I changed my plugs into my black and white anchor plugs, grabbed my black skull necklace from my necklace rack, and ran a hair brush through my hair before meeting Liam downstairs. He was waiting by the door with Oli… Who was supposed to already be at the party...

“Uh, hey,” he said as I walked down the stairs.

“Hey, what are you doing here?” I asked, placing my phone in my pocket.

“I wasn’t sure if you were gonna come back with someone or walk by yourself so I figured I’d head over.”

“Oh, well, I’m going with Liam,” I bopped my head at Liam, who was fixated on his phone.

“Let’s go!” Liam said and we all headed outside. “Mom’s gonna be gone for a few days so just let me know where you are every night, okay?” he said as we got into his car. Matt only lived on the next street, but knowing Liam, he’d take off halfway through the party to get to another one and I’d have to walk home again.

“Um, home with you?”

“Actually, not tonight. I’ll be over at Audrey’s.” Audrey was Liam’s favorite fuck buddy, and his best friend. The tension they had between them was crazy and everybody knew it. What we didn’t know, or I guess understand, why they didn’t just call it quits with everyone else and got together. We’re all pretty much expecting it.

“Okay,” when we got to the party we all headed to the backyard. Matt had gotten a few of the bands around town to play, including his and Oli’s.

“I’ll see you in a bit, ok?” Oli said before getting up on stage. They started off playing Black and Blue, and song I actually recognized. The only problem was that anyone who hadn’t heard it before had no idea what was they were saying. I spotted Justin, Gabe, and Jack across the pool on the other side of the yard. They were laughing and looked like they were having a good time. I smiled.

“Aww, don’t you wish you were over there,” I heard someone whisper in my ear from behind. I turned around to see Trey.

“Get away from me,” I spat. He looked fine other than the black eye he was sporting, and the small slit across the left side of his forehead. Justin was probably the reason for the injuries.

“Y’kno? I thought we could see past all of this and just make up, or out. I’m down for both,” he winked. I tried to push past him, but he pulled my arm back, “You’re gonna regret all of this,” he said silently before letting go of me. The only thing I regretted was dating him. Before I knew it, there was shouting behind me and another stupid fight with Trey, except this time it was Liam. The music stopped and no one said a word. The crowd opened up into a circle and let them hash it out. I was about to go and try to pull them apart when I felt someone pulling me back.

“Let them,” Kellin said. To my disappointment, Willow was with him and Jesse. We stood there and watched as Liam pushed Trey into the pool, who grabbed Rose’s arm for leverage and ended up pulling in with him.

“Aahh!! AH!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU!!” She screamed trying to swim to the edge. Trey stood in the pool angry and spat. Some guys on the other side pulled her up and took her inside to dry her off.

“That was for putting your dirty hands on her,” Liam yelled. He was about to launch himself into the pool after Trey again, but was stopped by Justin and Jack. Gabe was trying to talk him down while the other two were holding him back.

He puffed and then went inside to get a drink. The party continued and Oli’s band began to play again. “I need a drink,” I said and followed Liam into the kitchen. He was with Audrey who was tending to his wounds, “Liam, what the fuck?”

He nodded, “I would’ve done it sooner if I would’ve known where he was,” he smiled. He handed me his beer and followed Audrey who was tugging on his arm. They went up the stairs and pretty soon were out of site. I took a drag of his beer and headed back outside to hang out with Leilani, Willow, Justin, Kellin, Jack, Gabe, and Jessie.

“There she is!” Leilani shouted and danced her way over to me, “To Fiona! For getting two fights over her in two days,” she laughed and everyone else joined in, raising their drinks. We all took a drag of our drinks than started talking again. I hadn’t even noticed Oli’s band had stopped playing until I felt a pair of arms wrap around me from behind.

“I was looking for you,” he whispered and grinned.

I smiled back, “you found me.” I looked up at everyone else who looked lost in their conversations, except Justin who was looking at us, and Willow who was looking at Justin, then us. “Can we, uh, get out of here?” I asked silently. I felt very uncomfortable and I was done socializing for the night. There’s only so much party one can have on a Wednesday night.

“Sure,” he said softly to me, then turned to face everyone else, “We’ll hang later guys.”

“Oh, you guys are leaving already?” Gabe asked disappointed.

“What?!” Leilani exclaimed, “No way, uh-uh! You guys can’t leave yet. The party’s just getting started!” She laughed and took another drink of her beer.

“Guess we’re not in a party mood. Catch you guys later,” he said and we made our way to the front. I texted Liam and told him I was gonna crash at Oli’s place and turned off my phone. Tonight I wasn’t gonna play by the boring old rules. Tonight I was gonna play with Oli, and he was gonna play with me.

Notes

So I was gonna update 3 chapters tonight, but I did mention before that I've been having a rough couple of days & I had all intentions of writing the next three today, but I was in & out of sleep all day long & didn't get around to it. If anything, I might write them in a few hours & get them up, but if not, they'll be five up tomorrow. Sorry again, x.

I actually described Liam as what my friend Alex really wore since he's the one I'm basing Liam off of, so here you go. & Again, please don't steal the picture. I asked him ahead of time before using it. http://tinypic.com/r/2nsv1fn/5
