The Trouble

The Ex

Whenever I met Sasha she always seemed so jumpy. She was terrified for some reason, it made me wonder if her ex was on Warped. That was the most logical explanation I could think of. From what she has told me he has left lasting damage but not enough for her to look behind her every other second. I felt sorry for her, she had so much to offer. But one man had turned her into what she is now. Even as I watch her scribble on a note pad now she looks worried. It makes me think of Mike. All of my other boyfriends have never put me down unless we were arguing, and I've dated some assholes. I can't imagine Mike threatening me with naked photos. He'd never do it. "Is there something more you want to tell me, Sasha?" I asked calmly.
"I saw my ex. I saw him on my way here," she almost whispered.
"And would you like to tell me what happened?"
"He glared at me. He called me a bitch as we passed. I thought he was going to hit me again,"
"Is he on Warped?" I asked and she reluctantly nodded.
"Are you ready to tell me who he is?"
"No," she shook her head violently.
"Okay, that's fine," I smiled.
"What if he finds me and hurts me?" she asked desperately.
"There are things you can do to prevent that," I explained. "You can't let him hinder your progress, Sasha,"
"I won't," she nodded slowly. "I don't want him to find me or get my number,"
"If he does you can tell me and we can inform the police,"
"Thank you," Sasha finally smiled. "I'll see you soon," she told me.
"I can't wait," I replied warmly. Sasha got up and walked away. I looked after her and got up myself. Abby had finished an hour ago. Before I left I looked around. I walked over to the buses and knocked on Pierce the Veil's. I waited and heard footsteps inside. Tony opened the door to me and smiled. I walked inside and sat on the sofa in the front lounge. "Hey," I nodded to Vic and Jaime.
"Hi," they said in unison.
"Where's Mike?"
"Back lounge," Vic replied easily. I went to get up but Jaime stopped me.
"Don't," Jaime warned.
"Why?" I laughed.
"He's pissed off," Tony explained.
"Who's pissed him off?"
"I don't know. But he said he saw his ex on his way back from our merch tent," Vic said.
"Let me talk to him," I told them. They all raised their eyebrows at me and I rolled my eyes. I got up and walked slowly to the back lounge. I knocked the door and heard shuffling inside.
"Fuck off," I heard Mike mutter.
"It's me,"
"I'm busy,"
"Doing what?" I rolled my eyes.
"Working,"
"Mike,"
"Writing more lyrics about women being bitches and fucking them up,"
"This isn't helping,"
"It is. Women are bitches and I choose money and whiskey," he said flatly.
"Me too," I tried.
"What?'
"I choose money and whiskey. Men are dicks,"
"Oh,"
"I should really call my boyfriend who I love very much and I know loves me very much to break up. It's obviously the only option,"
"It isn't," Mike warned.
"What do you suggest then?"
"Erm . . . You should choose your boyfriend even if he is being a dick. Then you should give him his hat back. And if you're feeling generous you should wear that black lace underwear that your boyfriend likes,"
"Which underwear?" I questioned.
"The one that pushes everything up,"
"The one I'm wearing now?" I teased. I heard movement inside and I smirked. The door unlocked and Mike opened it. He frowned deeply and looked me up and down. He pulled my shirt down to look. Then he looked away in disapproval.
"Liar. You didn't even get the colour right," he muttered. Then Mike closed the door. I heard him lock it and I rolled my eyes. I knocked again and waited.
"Who is it?"
"Me again," I told him.
"I'm busy,"
"Mike, we are not repeating a conversation we just had. Can't we talk?"
"You don't need your eyes to talk," he reminded me.
"Open the door,"
"No,"
"Fine," I breathed. I sat down on the floor. I grabbed a blanket from Tony's bunk and my drink from my bag. I leant against the door and got more comfortable.
"Fine what?" he asked worriedly.
"You're being too childish to open the door so I'll just wait outside until you need to go to the toilet,"
"I'll piss out the window,"
"That's disgusting," I told him. We sat for a while in silence. I heard him sit behind the door then sigh quietly. I put my face against the door and wrapped the blanket tighter around me.
"I saw my ex today," Mike eventually told me.
"What happened?"
"Well, she started talking to me. So I talked back because I didn't want to be rude, even though I wanted to run away. And she asked me if I was seeing anyone,"
"What did you say?" I asked.
"I said I've been with a really cool woman for a year in two weeks. She asked if she's better than her,"
"And?" I asked reluctantly.
"I said yes,"
"Thank you," I smiled.
"She didn't think so. She said you were bad for me,"
"Am I?"
"No and I told her that. She was so bad for me,"
"Did you cheat on her?"
"In revenge, yeah," he laughed. "I had so many fights over her. She was fucking anything with a pulse,"
"I'm sorry," I told him.
"What for?"
"For not being able to give you a hug now,"
"I could use a hug, Kay'," he admitted.
"I have an idea,"
"What?" Mike questioned.
"Open the damn door,"
"Okay," he chuckled. The door unlocked and opened. I looked up and saw Mike sat on the floor in front of me. I shuffled forward and wrapped my arms around him. He sighed into my chest and I stroked his hair. I planted one kiss on his head. Then I held him tighter to me, letting him get settled.
"We don't have to talk about her again," I told him gently.
"I know," he nodded.
"Do you want me to glass her face?" I asked, my voice soft.
"No," he replied and I felt him smirk into my skin.
