The Trouble

The Past

I saw Sasha. She was walking towards the buses. I narrowed my eyes at her. I was supposed to be going to the tent to see Abby, but I decided to follow her. She hurried to Pierce the Veil's bus. A lump rose in my throat and I swallowed hard. I couldn't watch this. She knocked the door and Tony answered. He looked at her and slammed the door. I smiled, but she knocked again. Mike answered this time and glared at her. I saw them talking but I couldn't make out what she was saying. She tried to walk inside but he stopped her. He grabbed her arm and roughly pushed her away. Then Mike closed her door loudly. Sasha groaned and started walking away. I went around a bus to meet her. When she saw me she stopped. "Kayleigh!" Sasha gasped.
"Don't you know you're not welcome here," I said. I crossed my arms over my chest. She looked at me for a long moment but then smiled.
"That isn't how Mike feels," she told me, causing me to roll my eyes.
"I just saw him grab you and throw you out,"
"Well, Mike likes it rough. Didn't he tell you that?" she smirked.
"It must have taken everything you had to keep up that act," I muttered.
"Everything I said was true,"
"I mean that innocent, my big, bad boyfriend beat me up act. He may have done but he had every right to call you a bitch,"
"You have a bit of an act too. Pretending you're the perfect counsellor. But you're not. From what I hear you're a bitch too,"
"Where did you hear that?" I asked urgently.
"Everyone's talking about you beating up Mike,"
"Oh, that," I shrugged.
"He never hit you back. Give him time," she reasoned.
"Shut up!" I snapped.
"One day you'll learn what it's like," she promised. "Then you'll be the bitch," I couldn't take anymore. I grabbed her hair. Then I slammed her head against the side of a bus. I groaned and I did it again and again. I grabbed her face with my other hand and forced her to face me.
"Are you really so fucking naive, Sasha?" I spat. "You think I was born a counsellor, dating a drummer? You're stupid. You don't have a clue about me,"
"Who are you then?" she asked weakly.
"Kayleigh Playa. The girl that you don't want to get on the wrong side of. Believe me,"
"Should I be scared?" she somehow mocked.
"I've fucked up more people than you've met. If you ever go near him again . . ."
"I thought he was too good for you. Now I'm positive," Sasha said quickly.
"I know he's too good for you," I spat. I hit her head against the bus one last time. Then I walked away. I didn't know where I was headed, but I ended up outside Pierce the Veil's bus. I knocked the door and heard people inside. Mike was swearing loudly. He opened the door aggressively.
"Fuck off, Sash-" he started, but then he saw me. "Kayleigh!" he exclaimed. His face lit up. He had a huge smile and his eyes had brightened.
"I'm sorry," I muttered. Once I had said that his face fell. He was frowning, as if he had remembered what had happened between us. "Can I come in? I just need someone," I said.
"Sure," he nodded. Mike held the door open for me. I stepped inside and saw the boys sitting in the front lounge. They smiled and me and I nodded in acknowledgment. "We can go into the back lounge," he told me. I walked into the back lounge. I went over to the sofa and saw my hat. It was the one Mike brought me from Drop Dead when we were in the UK. I smiled and put it on. "I've been meaning to give you that back. But I didn't know how," Mike told me.
"I have it now," I nodded.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"No," I shook my head.
"Oh, what's wrong?"
"I'm sorry," I gasped. I started to cry. I sobbed and little and Mike rushed over. He wrapped his arms around me and forced me to sit down onto the sofa. I held him close to me and buried my face in his chest. He stroked my hair to soothe me. I felt him kiss my cheek and it calmed me a little.
"Don't cry," he soothed.
"I did something so bad," I told him. I wasn't being fake, not like Sasha. I had just lost it with her. I didn't want to be like that, but I can't forget it.
"What did you do, babe?" he asked gently.
"I saw Sasha,"
"What did she say to you?" he asked stiffly.
"I don't know. But I was so close to really hurting her. I just let her get to me,"
"She isn't worth it. I promise you," he told me as we pulled away from one another.
"I want to know the truth but I don't want her anywhere near me. The things she told me . . . I need to know if they're true,"
"What's things?" he asked gently.
"I can't even say them," I breathed.
"Please, Kay'. Try for me,"
"Okay," I sighed deeply. "She said when you were on tour you were always drinking and high. I think that's true. But I don't care," I told him.
"Thanks," he nodded.
"She said you were sleeping around,"
"That's bullshit,"
"If you were I want you to tell me, Mike,"
"I wasn't. She was. I slept with girls to get back at her. I never went looking for it,"
"You promise?"
"I promise," he agreed.
"I don't want to tell you the rest," I muttered.
"Please,"
"Don't get angry at me,"
"I won't," Mike promised.
"She said that if she did anything about your cheating you'd tell everyone about the stuff you did and show everyone the pictures she sent you,"
"She what?" he asked angrily.
"You promised," I reminded him. Mike put his head in his hands and nodded. I ran my hand over his back and his neck. He shivered and I took my hand away. "That isn't it," I muttered. "She said you messed with her head. You would put things in her head to torture her. Before you finally ended it,"
"None of that's true," he said darkly.
"Really?" I asked hopefully.
"Really," he nodded.
"And . . ."
"What?"
"She said you hit her, Mike,"
"What?!" he demanded. Mike stood up. He grabbed his hair and pulled angrily. He started to pace around the room. I got up and stopped him. I reached up to take his face in my hands. I made him look at me and saw his eyes calm a little.
"I want you to tell me the truth,"
"I would never hit any woman, even her. I could never never hit you, Kay',"
"I believe you," I smiled. Mike smiled back at me. He leant down to kiss me but I stopped him.
"I can't," I muttered.
"Why?" he muttered.
"I need to hear it from Sasha, that she was lying. I don't know how, but I need that,"
"She'll never admit it," he growled.
"I know, but I won't be happy until I know,"
"If I get her to admit it can we get back together?"
"Yeah," I nodded. "I want that too,"
