Too Soon

Austin was so nice on our date. He seemed to do things in the right places. He’s gone back to US now, but he said if he’s ever over here again he’ll call me. Even if he doesn’t it was nice going out.
I tucked my knees up to my chest and spooned more cereal into my mouth. My phone started ringing on the breakfast bar and I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand before I answered.
“Hello?” I asked.
“Hi ya, Vienna?” someone replied. I always feel like a prostitute when the agencies or scouts call me.
“Yes,” I breathed.
“It’s Diane from Paige’s Lingerie. I’m just calling about your photoshoot,”
“Oh right. Have I got a location yet?”
“There’s been a change of plan I’m afraid,”
“How so?” I bit my lip.
“It won’t be in London. They’re actually going back to the US,” Diane explained.
“So, I’ve lost it?” I muttered.
“Not at all. You’re still down for it, it’s just whether you’d be prepared to travel to the location,”
“Would they be paying for my flight and hotel expenses?” I asked.
“I believe so. But you should keep in mind what a great opportunity this would be for you,”
“I know, Paige’s are huge,”
“Why don’t I email you the details and you can get back to me?” she offered.
“Sure, thanks,” I replied and hung up.
I don’t like flying out for work. But working for a brand like Paige’s could give me so many options. If you work for one classic brand like them the others are suddenly interested in your portfolio.
I got up the email and read through. It was in Texas. I’ve been to that part of Texas once before once before. Going would give me chance to get some interesting footage for my videos as well.
I called Daine back and waited for her to pick up. “Hello?” she asked.
“Hi, it’s Vienna,”
“Oh, yes,” she urged.
“I’ve had a look through and I think I’ll go for it. If you arrange my travel and email everything to me,” I explained.
“Sure, great,” she replied. “Our team over there look forward to working with you,”
“Okay, thanks,” I smiled and hung up.
