The List

The Boys

I tried to walk faster but the suitcase rolling behind me slowed me down. A few houses down I could see a big neon green tour bus waiting. There were people outside it and I swallowed hard. Matty had assured me they would be nice. After he rang Jaime and they’d agreed Matty told me. The guy who owed him a favour was Jaime Precadio. He plays bass for a band called Pierce the Veil. They were due to go on a five month tour and he knew they would do what they could to help.
So that’s why I’m in San Deigo wheeling a case of my things towards a bus of people I’ve never met. I don’t know very much about the band other than that they write great music and supposedly are really nice guys. I stopped in front of them and they looked at me. If I didn’t know Matty and the guys from Memphis May Fire I may be intimidated. They were covered in tattoos, all except one.
“Kayleigh, I’m guessing?” one of the guys asked hopefully.
“Yeah, hi.” I smiled. He stepped forward and put out his hand.
“I’m Jaime.” he smiled.
“You’re the one who hooked this all up? Thank you."
“No problem. I owed Matty,” he explained. “And after I spoke to you on the phone I couldn’t say no."
“Still, thanks.” I smiled.
“Anyway, this is Vic,” he said and gestured to the shortest of the group. “Tony,” he introduced him. “And Mike.” he said and pointed to the last one of the group.
“Nice to meet you.” I said.
“And I obviously have the best hair.” Jaime said. I saw Vic roll his eyes and I laughed.
“I’ll get your bag.” Mike told me.
“You don’t have to.” I replied.
“I’ll get your bag.” he repeated.
I passed him my suitcase and they urged me inside. I stepped up onto the bus and looked around. I’ve visited Memphis’ bus a few times but this was great. There was a front lounge with settee’s and a table near the tiny kitchen area.
“I’ll put this in your bunk.” Mike informed me.
“Thanks.” I told him. I followed him past a door and peered inside.
“The bathroom.” Jaime informed me. I nodded and walked through bunks. Mike had put my suitcase on a bottom bunk.
“This one is yours. I’m above you. You’re lucky we have a separate bus for our roadies now so it shouldn’t be too cramped. But we do have our tour manager with us.” Mike explained.
“I’m sure it’ll be fine.”
“Great,” he told me. “The back lounge is through there. Vic's domain when we have a show coming up.”
“Okay.” I laughed.
“Do you want a drink?” Mike offered.
“I’d love one.” I replied. Mike headed back to the kitchen and I followed then joined the boys on a the couch’s.
