Who Will I Be For My Daughter?

Let's Get Back to When Everything Was Perfect

I stepped from the tour bus and rubbed my hands over my face. We’d arrived in New York and I couldn’t wait to get off the bus. We were in the parking lot of the venue and there were three other buses there. I sat on the floor by the door and watched a numerous band members strolled passed with their equipment.

“Hi.” I looked to my left and frowned at the man sitting next to me. He must have been about forty and I had no clue what he was doing here.

“Hi?”

“I’m Erik Chandler, I play bass in Bowling for Soup.” He smiled and held his hand out to me. I shook it before I realised where I recognized him from.

“Hey, I didn’t know you were on this tour.”

“Yep, weird mix of bands on this tour. There are us, Black Veil Brides, Of Mice & Men and Patent Pending.” He pulled a pack of cigarettes out and lit one up before blowing the smoke in the opposite direction.

“So, who are you then pretty lady?” Erik crossed his legs and I noticed the tattoo on the bottom of his leg.

“Taylor.”

“No last name Taylor?” Erik grinned as he lifted the cigarette to his lips and took a drag. His voice was husky, even huskier than Austin’s when he got angry.

“Carlile. My last name is Carlile.” I said to him and he smirked at me.

“So you’re the one that bagged that young man then. I’ve heard about you.” He crushed his cigarette into the ground and took a drink of the vitamin water that was next him.

“What have you heard?” I crossed my legs and turned to face him as Alan hung his head out of the window above me.

“Taylor girl! You’re going to freeze sitting outside there. Put this on if you’re staying out there.” Alan tossed his leather jacket down from the window and I slid into the warm leather. Erik was smiling at me as he played with the packet of cigarettes in his hands.

“Well, rumour has it that you’re one of the few lucky fans that bagged a band member.”

“Yeah, well…”

“Not judging. You’ve done well. There is also word around that you’re having another baby?”
“Yep, another one coming out.” I ran my hands over my stomach and Erik grinned widely.

“Man, I love kids. They’re always full of life.” Erik leant back on his hands and I noticed another person heading towards us. He had four cups of hot drink in his hands as he sat on the floor with us.

“Jaret Reddick.” He said as he sat down with us and handed Erik a cup and then me one. I took the hot drink and sniffed it. It smelt like hot chocolate.

“You shouldn’t be sitting outside. It’s the middle of fucking November!”

“I’ve been on that bus for eleven hours. I’d rather cut my eyeballs out with a razor than sit in there for another hour.”

“Damn, girl. You’ve got an attitude.” Jaret grinned before sipping at his coffee.

“You weren’t on the tour last night.” I said to them as I wrapped myself further into Alan’s jacket. The two men moved closer to me and we managed to get our body heat to warm us up.

“No, Jaret was recovering from the flu.” Another guy said from my right. I turned to see a guy with red and blonde hair come up to us and squash his way into our little group.

“Anthony. I’m the drummer in Patent Pending.” He smiled and took the fourth coffee cup from the holder and squashed closer to us all. I leant back against the bus as they spoke songs and performing. The bus door opened and Austin stood in the doorway in just his boxer shorts.

“You’ll get frostbite on your dick.” I said to him as he looked down at me between the group of men. He held his hand up and closed the door before returning a few moments later with clothes on and a blanket. He climbed over Anthony’s head and made me stand before sitting down and tugging me onto his lap and wrapping me in a blanket.

I grabbed his phone from his pocket and played a game he’d installed on it the previous night as the men spoke music and songs. It was nice to be surrounded by people.

“Where’s Mia?” I asked when Austin took a breath from speaking.

“Playing with Benjamin. She’s safe, baby.” Austin kissed my forehead and I smiled up at him. I noticed a bald man coming towards us and he smiled at us.

“Adam, you made it!” Austin grinned and held his hand up. The two men hi fived and Adam held his camera up with a smile.

“How about some pictures?”

“Not me.” I said as I tried to stand. I want gently tackled by four sets of hands and Adam snapped his camera as the all the men tried to hold me down. They released their hands and Austin grabbed my face in his hands and kissed me with a laugh.

“You’re all bastards.” I glared at them as I stood up and brushed the dust off my backside. Austin hopped up and pulled me into his arms while the other men stood up.

The rest of the day wasn’t very eventful. We hung around with the other bands and the show was played before we headed over to LA. Everything seemed so rushed on this tour and so far Austin and I hadn’t been able to have any alone time. I just hoped something in LA made that happen.
