Shit, I forgot all about Travis. Austin looked at me, “Are you going to answer that or just stare at it?” I gave him a small smile and told him I’d be right back. As I walked off the bus I answered. Before I could even say anything Travis was already in my ear.
“WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU? GODAMMIT BITCH, THE CONCERTS OVER, TIME TO GO HOME.” The concert is over already? What time was it…
”Travis. I’m sorry. I-“ Wait, why am I apologizing to my abusive boyfriend, well ex boyfriend. “Travis, we broke up. I’m done being some girl that you can take all of your anger out on. I don’t even know why I put up with it for so long. And to think I fell in love with you! You’re just an asshole who likes to beat on people. I’m done with you Travis. And don’t bother with trying to get me to come home. I’m done, I’ll be there in a little to pick up my stuff but that’s it.” I quickly hung up before I started crying. I know he isn’t any good for me, but I still do love him, even if he hurts me. I took another minute to regain my composure and went back into the bus.
“Hey Ciara, you alright?” Alan was looking at me from on top of his bunk and I slowly nodded yes. He said okay but I could tell he saw right through it. I turned to walk back to the back lounge to see Austin having a hard time deciding between Aladdin and Monsters Inc. I pointed to Monsters Inc and said, “That one. It’s one of my favorites." He smiled and put it in the DVD player but when he looked back up at me his smile fell.
“Ciara, are you okay? Did something happen?” I am such an open book.
“Yeah, that was Travis, my boyfriend…well my ex-boyfriend now.” And I suddenly started crying again. He brought me down onto the couch with me and pulled me into a hug.
“I’m sorry. He probably didn’t deserve you anyways.” He kept whispering to me and stroking my hair. I don’t think anybody has ever been this sweet to me. I looked up at Austin and quietly said,
“I broke up with him, he-he…” Maybe I shouldn’t tell him anything. “He-Nevermind.” I turned back to the movie and he just stared at me.
“Ciara, what did he do to you?” I looked up and he just stared into my eyes waiting for an answer.
“I don’t know, maybe I shouldn’t be talking to you about this. Seeing as how we just met and all.” He nodded and turned back towards the TV screen. After the movie was over I told him I had to head home and he called me a cab.
“Hey, Austin…I…I don’t really have a home to go to anymore, I lived with Travis but you know.” He had just the faintest of smiles on his face,
“Of course you can tour with us over the summer.” Alan, Phil and Tony all yelled from their bunks. Well they didn’t seem upset.
When I got to the house I told the cab driver I’d be back in a little bit and told him to wait there. He nodded and just pointed to the meter reminding me that it was still running.
I walked up the driveway and unlocked the front door. Travis was awake, but he was not sober. As soon as he saw me he put down his beer and quickly crossed the room and got in my face. He grabbed my shoulders shaking me, “Where are you going to stay? You’re mom and dad left you years ago, they knew you were a whiny little bitch and they left you!” he seethed. I tried to pull away from his grip to go upstairs to our room to grab my clothes but he wouldn’t let me go. Without warning he punched me in the face and I dropped to the ground. He started kicking me in the ribs. Oh God it hurt so bad, finally he stopped. But by then I could barely get up. All I saw was Travis walking away before I passed out.
