A Life Worth Living

*Charlotte’s POV*

After a few days I had gotten used to where everything was in the house. Apparently, we moved practically anything we could. Austin still wouldn't tell me our daughter's name after hours of endless guessing. He promised to tell me soon but it's killing me. She's a perfect mix of Austin and I. She's vocal and happy like me and has Austin's looks and goofy laugh.

I heard our little angel starting to fuss in her nursery across the hall. Austin was sound asleep next to me. I got up and walked to her room and gently opened the door; there she was standing at the end of her crib. She held her arms in the air to signal she wanted up. I pulled her into my arms and held her close as I kissed her forehead.

I heard a camera shutter from behind me. There Austin was with my camera in hand. "I couldn't help it. You two just look so precious together."

"She wanted to be picked up. I think she missed me. At least the old me." I said sadly

"Charlotte, don't worry about it. Have you guessed her name yet?"

I scoffed and shook my head. Austin walked over to me and poked our daughter's cheek. He sighed and kissed my forehead before taking her from my arms. "You'll get it soon, babe."

*A few days Later*

I woke up to the smell of breakfast being made. I practically ran down the stairs and heard Austin talking to our daughter.

“Okay, Sunshine are you ready to eat while we wait for mommy to come down?”

Sunshine….?

(Flashback)

“Keep pushing Charlotte!” Austin encouraged as I was in labor. “Keep going Miss Annesley! You can do it. Steady breaths!” Cheered a nurse. After hours of them saying the same dribble and hours of my screaming from excruciating pain that is childbirth. She finally arrived to this world. I cried. Not because of the pain I just endured but because there she is in the nurses caring hands, my little girl. She’s so beautiful. The nurse finished cleaning her up and handed her to me. Her sweet little face was shining up at me. Her eyes were as wide and glistening. I kissed her forehead. “Oh, my little Sunshine, I will never love anyone as much as I love you.” Austin walked over to us and kissed us both. “That’s a perfect name, Charlotte.”

“What is Austin?” I looked up at him confused. “Sunshine. She’s our little bit of Sunshine. We can always call her Sunny for short.” He was right, it was meant to be, it was destiney.

(End Flashback)

“Charlotte? Charlotte… Earth to my wife who’s freaking me out…” I looked up and Sunny was in her highchair and Austin was flailing his arms in front of me light a mad man. I smiled at him and gently pulled his face to mine. “I remember the day our little Sunshine was born.” He smiled and kissed me more deeply and held me close. We heard a noise coming from behind us, there was Sunny throwing her cheerios on the floor. We laughed and walked to her. Austin bent down to pick up her mess while I tossed more on the floor. She watched me carefully and every time her daddy looked away she tossed some down too. He caught on pretty quick though. After breakfast we went to the park and then went to the beach. We found some pretty cool shells and some sand dollars. And went back home. Austin and I have been talking about pretty much everything. We went through our photo albums and scrapbooks. Of Mice & Men released their re-issue of Restoring Force and came back from tour shortly before my last accident. Austin filled me in on all the bands I've photographed and walked me through those photos and videos. It looks like I had a really good year. And I’ve come to grips that I may not remember everything. I just want to remember the important things.

Tomorrow is my first day of being back at work after my accident. I won’t be tattooing anyone for a while but I can still go over stock and draw and help fill in at the front desk. And I’ll only works a few hours a day until I’m more adjusted.
