Cold, Empty Mattresses And Falling Stars

*Cassidy's POV*

As we were driving to the hospital all I could think about was that I am going to kill Karen, when Mike pulled up I went to jump out but he locked the doors, "Mike" I said determined to get out and see my dad, "Don't do or say anything you'll regret tomorrow" he said looking at me, I just scoffed, "Yeah, thanks dad" I said as I went to open the door again but it was still locked, "I'm serious Cass, I know what you're like and you get mad too easily, please just try and keep your temper under control, if not for me then for your dad?" He asked, I sighed and nodded, "Fine fine, I promise" I said before leaning over and giving him a quick kiss, as soon as I heard him unlock the car I jumped out and made a run for the reception, "Cassidy!!" I heard Mike shout as he chased me across the parking lot I was obviously slower than he was due to my recent injuries, he wrapped his arms around my waist gently and started pulling me back, "Mike, let go!" I said struggling although it hurt, I kept on fighting, "You promised" he said pulling me off the road as a car raced by, I sighed and stopped struggling, "I know" I said before Mike let me go again, he was quick to take my hand and lead me in as I stood silently, "Hi how can I help you?" The receptionist asked, "We're here to see Tom Harrold?" Mike said looking around, I watched as the receptionist eyes Mike up, "Yes he is in room 413, if you go down the hall take the elevator to floor two and you should be able to find your way from there, and if you don't, feel free to give me a call" she smiled sliding a piece of paper to him with a number on it, "I'm actually here with my-" he said awkwardly looking at me, she smiled and giggled a little, "Oh that isn't your sister?" She asked looking me up and down, Mike shook his head, "Thank you anyway" he said before we walked away to the elevator, "What a little hoe bag" I scoffed as we stood in the elevator, "She was kinda cute though" Mike said quietly, I looked at him, "Well then why don't you go out with her then" I said letting go of his hand and crossing my arms, "Babe I didn't mean it like that" he sighed, thankfully the elevator stopped and the doors opened, "Cass" he shouted as I rushed out and towards the ward where the sign read 'Rooms 400-430' I heard Mike walking to catch up with me which just made me walk even quicker, I eventually reached my dad's room, I didn't even wait for Mike I just walked straight in.

"Daddy" I said as I saw him lying in bed all beaten and bruised, he looked up and sighed holding his hands open, "Cass, what are you doing here?" He asked as I ran over and hugged him tightly, before I could answer the door creaked open and in walked Mike, "Who's that?" He asked looking at him, "That's the receptionist new boyfriend" I said rolling my eyes, "Cass I didn't mean it, I swear" he said kissing the top of my head, "Ooh lovers feud huh?" Dad said laughing a little, "Nice to meet you sir" Mike said shaking my dad's hand, "Same to you son" he smiled, "Dad what did that bitch do to you?" I asked holding his face in my hand and tilting it side to side to inspect the bruises and cuts, "Oh it was my own stupid fault, we were arguing and she slapped me because I was being cocky and I fell down the stairs backwards" he said shrugging, "Dad she practically pushed you, you could have died!" I said looking at him as if he was crazy, "Cass calm down, it's not a big deal" he said sighing, I looked at Mike with wide eyes, "With all due respect sir, this is a very big deal, she could have killed not only you but your daughter as well" he said, I looked at him shaking my head, "What are you talking about? What's he talking about?" He asked looking from Mike to me, "A couple of days ago I went home and she was home with her friends and they were drunk and they, in a way, jumped me, I guess" I said, he looked at me, "What Cassidy, I had no idea, I'm so sorry. Why didn't you tell me?" He asked, I just shrugged, "It's your second chance of true love, I didn't want to be the one to ruin that" I smiled with tears in my eyes, he took my hand and kissed it gently, "Never" he smiled, suddenly a flash went off from Mike's camera, I looked at him and laughed, "Okay, take one on my phone" I said unlocking it and handing it to him, I posed with my dad and took a quick one, suddenly the receptionist from earlier entered, I smirked as I walked up to her, "Excuse me, could you take a picture of me, my dad AND my boyfriend?" I asked, she smiled sarcastically and took my phone, Mike and I stood on either side of my dad smiling as she took a picture, as she was about to hand it back to me I asked for one more, I grabbed Mike and stood next to the white wall, he tenderly wrapped his arms around my waist, Mike kissed my cheek just in time for the picture, "Thanks" I smiled taking my phone back, "Visiting times are over" she said before turning and leaving, I couldn't help but laugh a little.
