The Taste Of Blood Remains

*Mike's POV*

"Please Phil, put down the gun, I don't want to be responsible for another death" Cassidy pleaded wiping her eyes, I could see she was hurting and I just wanted to get her out of here and away from him, she went to walk in the room towards Phil but I didn't trust him, I quickly grabbed her wrist a little tighter than I had intentionally meant to, "Let her go!!" Phil shouted pointing the gun at me, I suddenly dropped her arm, "No, don't!!" Cassidy shouted jumping in front of me before Phil's finger hit the trigger, I saw the bullet hit her chest before she collapsed, "Cass!!" I shouted picking her up and running downstairs as an officer arrested Phil, I ran outside and put her down on the grass, "Come on Cassidy, don't die on my baby, don't die!!" I shouted watching her eyes roll in and out of her head, eventually they shut just as the paramedics came running over, "Please, save her don't let her die, please don't let her die!" I said with tears rolling down my face as the paramedics put her on the gurney, one of the paramedics gave me a small sympathetic smile before they left, I quickly jumped in my car before following the ambulance to the hospital, "Mr Fuentes, if you would like to follow me" the receptionist said before leading me into a small, empty room, "Fill out this form and we'll come and get you soon" she smiled before leaving I sighed and nodded as I started filling out most of the form, I texted everyone to tell them what happened briefly and within 20-30 minutes, Jaime, Tony, Vic, Austin, Mom and Dad were sitting in the small room with me, Mom was holding my hand as we waited nervously, eventually a doctor came in, closing the door and pulling up a chair, "Mr Fuentes, we have some good news and some bad news" he started, I nodded for him to go on, "We have managed to stabilize Cassidy for the moment, there is a chance that she may only have a week or so left, so please try to make all the time in the world for her, I know what it's like to lose a loved one, don't make yourself live with the guilt of not doing enough" he said smiling softly, I nodded, "Thank you, can we see her?" I asked, he nodded before getting up and leading the way, when we entered the room I saw Cassidy lying staring at the ceiling, crying, before a doctor apologized and left, I rushed over and grabbed her hand, "Cass what's happened?" I asked sitting on the chair next to her, she sighed and looked at me.

"I'm so sorry I didn't tell you sooner but I didn't even know myself!" She said as she began to cry harder, "What? What's happened?" I asked before turning around and motioning to the guys to give us a minute, "I lost it Mike, I lost our baby" she cried into her hands, "Wh-Y-You were pregnant?" I asked, she cried a little more as she nodded, I felt devastation set in but then I thought about it for a second, "If you think about it, in a way I guess it's fine, that could have been Ben's baby in there and we would never have known" I said, she looked at me and dried her eyes, sniffling a little before nodding, I grabbed her hand again and kissed it, "I'm going to go get a coffee and everyone, want anything?" I asked her but she shook her head, I smiled before kissing her forehead quickly and leaving, "Hey you can go through and see her if you want" I smiled when I reached the small cafe bit, they all nodded but waited for me to get my coffee first, as I was waiting on it pouring into the cup from the machine there was a loud siren before doctors and nurses came rushing from all over, I looked around but ignored it as my coffee was finished, "Are you guys ready?" I asked, they all nodded before following me back through, when we reached her room the door was open and there was shouting, I looked a everyone and quickly ran over to see doctors trying to revive Cassidy, I felt myself go limp as I watched Cassidy unresponsive, I dropped my coffee as I saw them stop, "Time of death; 3:48pm" a doctor announced, "No!! You can't stop, you need to revive her, she's all I have, please!" I tried pleading but they just gave me their condolences as I collapsed beside her bed, I felt someone's hand on my shoulder, when I turned I saw my Mom standing there, "I'm sorry baby" she said with tears in her eyes, she helped me up before I walked out and handed Vic my keys, calling a cab as I knew I wasn't in a fit state to drive. When I got home I collapsed on the couch and cried more and harder than I've ever cried in my life, my girlfriend, my love, my best friend is gone, I dried my eyes and got up from the couch, grabbing a bottle of whiskey and a small blue box from the pantry, I took them back to the couch and sat down, I opened the bottle and took multiple swigs from it before I opened the box and stared at it's contents, as time went on I felt myself getting more drunk before I eventually passed out on the couch.
