Love Will Never Mean A Thing

“Girls! Come on! Breakfast has been ready for ten minutes!” Mum calls.

I hear giggling and the girls bounding down the stairs. When they get to the kitchen, my mum is serving their plates. “Mum, look. I did Kylynn’s hair.”

Kylynn turns, modeling an elaborate braid. I think it’s cute how close they are, even though there are some things Alex keeps from Kylynn…

“I’ll be in the car,” I say grabbing my backpack and standing from the table. The girls wave me off as I walk out of the kitchen to the garage. When I get to Alex’s car, I open the passenger side and sit in the front, setting my backpack at my feet. I check my phone, seeing no messages. I set it in my lap and tap my knees a little bit. What was in that box the other night? I get curious and debate opening the glove compartment again. I look at the door and see that they aren’t coming anytime soon. I decide to open the glove compartment and pull out the box. My heart races as I set it in my lap. Should I really open this?..

Yes, it’s already in my lap. I inhale sharply and open up the small box. What I find makes my heart nearly stop. Two syringes, filled with a clear liquid, four small bags of white powder, and a about a pint sized ziploc bag filled with marijuana. Just then the garage door opens and the giggling fills the room. I hurriedly shut the box and shove it back in the glove compartment, slamming it shut.

I knew it was marijuana, but cocaine and heroin?...
