I Was All For You.

I Can't Fake It Anymore

“I still can’t believe you made me come,” Emily whispered from behind me as we trudged in the mud covered grass of Toronto on our way to get breakfast. After the oh so pleasant dinner with my mother, I decided I wanted to take Emily with me on tour for a week. She received the plane tickets and I told her to not tell her mum I was with her, to make up some random story.

“Once you realise how unhygienic and disgusting half the men around here are, then you’ll hate me.” I chuckled, tugging on her coat sleeve. Emily’s blonde hair was caught up in the wind when we finally reached the waffle house.

“I’m not disgusting!” Alan proclaimed, wrapping his arms around Emily and I’s shoulders. From the corner of my eye, I could see her cheeks turn into a bright red as blabbered on. The rest of OM&M were already seated with PTV.

“Hey, I’m Ricky and I’ll be your waitress for the day. Can I get you anything to drink?” The waitress, Ricky, asked. The boys nearly all went for hot beverages like coffee, Emily went for orange juice and I went for tea. She nodded after jotting down notes and leaving us to browse through their menu.

“That’s a lot of waffles..,” I mumbled, scanning the endless list of waffles they had to offer. Some of them, I swear were the same type just with a different name. It was ridiculous.

“Apparently, these guys are meant to be really good.” Vic stated while scrolling through his phone, obviously on Google. Emily giggled and whispered to me her choice of waffle. Everyone around us in their booths gave us weird looks as Mike spoke to the waitress, going through everyone’s orders. I felt so sorry for the person having to clean up for us.

“Yeah, I was thinking of moving to LA, but I don’t know.”

“I thought you lived in Pasadena, Aunt Nel?”

“I do so it’s not far at all, and call me Nel. Aunt Nel makes me feel old.” Emily laughed and turned her attention back to the intense COD match between Austin and I. Since we were young, I always kicked Austin’s ass but let’s just say he never accepted it. Once again, I had 30 kills and Austin only had 24. Emily giggled continuously on the couch as he muttered profanities before the title screen appeared, saying I had royally destroyed him.

“Fess up, Carlile, you suck.”

“Nuh-uh.” Soon after, Austin tackled me to the couch and refused to stop tickling me until I screamed out he was the best. I kneed him where it hurts before he ever had the chance to hear it.

“Shit.” My breathing started to hitch as my lungs squeezed. My knees collapsed as the crucial tubes to my tubes to my lungs started to clog up. Unfortunately, this was a familiar feeling I rarely had to endure. Never had it happened infront of Austin, to be honest, I never wanted them to ever. But I couldn’t focus on who was watching, I needed to get either my inhaler or tablets. I could feel Austin and Emily’s eyes burn on me, gazes filled with concern, confusion, and panic.

“Nel, are you okay?” Did he seriously just ask that question? Possibly the most obvious question ever?

“O-Okay, stupid question. Nel, what’s happening?” Damn, this boy was stupid. Because I couldn’t exactly speak, my right arm flapped around my throat signalling I couldn’t breathe.

“Fuck, Emily, go look inside her bag for an inhaler or some shit,” She nodded, sprinting out of the back lounge, “Hurry!” He quickly added.

“Nel, look at me. W-Why... Try and breathe for me, okay?” His face began to blur as the words escape his mouth, my vision slipping slowly. Just in time, Emily ran in with my inhaler which I grabbed and inhaled several times.

“Aunt Nel? Are you okay?” Emily’s voice was soft and quiet unlike Austin’s whose was panicky.

“Yeah,” I finally breathed, “I’m fine.”

“Hey, Em, could you possibly go get a glass of water?” She nodded once more, getting the hint he wanted to talk to me alone.

“Holy fuck, Nel! What the hell was happening? You scared the living shit out of me!” Austin rambled, pulling me into his arms. Great, now I had to explain to him everything. I couldn’t do that; I didn’t want to do that. It would just be an extra burden he didn’t need, plus, it would ruin everything.

“I-I can’t tell you.”

“Why the fuck not, Nelly?! You weren’t breathing, for fuck’s sake!” His arms waved around as he pointed out the obvious reason he wanted to know. Finally, I had enough strength to get up off the floor, out of his arms and into the bunk area.

“It, it doesn’t matter, okay? Just drop it.”

“I don’t think you realise that 1, it does matter and 2, I can’t just drop it.” This time he voice barely a whisper, thankfully, because if he carried on, a migraine would start in my head.

“Nel, you can tell me. Please. This obviously isn’t the first time because you have a fucking inhaler for it and you’re not freaking out.” Austin rubbed his face with his hands, letting out a sigh. I ignored him and searched my bunk for my phone and headphones. I didn’t want to confess to him, and I wasn’t going to. No matter how much he begged.
