A Recollection of Ideas: A Series of One Shots

Angel Eyes

This afternoon, I got an invitation that changed my life. It was addressed, To the lovely Irene. The sender was anonymous, but said that he would be wearing a half black, half white mask. He requested that I wear my little black dress. I smiled as I pocketed the invitation to the masquerade.

I had a feeling I knew who it was from. I met the boy a couple of times, and we had grown to be fond friends. I was happy that we could go meet each other again.

The party was in a few hours. While I waited, I cleaned up my little apartment and started to get ready. Taking a quick shower, I got out, toweled off, and got into my little black dress. Checking myself in the mirror, I smoothed out the front, smiling a little. I dug through my drawers to find a basic black mask. A tiny little silver curl decorated the bottom two corners, just barely visible.

It was about time for the party to start, so I double checked for everything again and then snatched the keys to my car. The cream colored invitation still clutched in my other hand.

The car ride was uneventful, but when I got to the large house, cars were parked in every available spot. I got out, grumbling that I’d have to walk an eternity in heels to the door.

When I got there, I set my invitation in a basket and walked in. Guests were shoved into every corner. The music was blasted through each room. Speakers hooked up and created an endless sound wall. Hundreds of people pushed around me. I made my way to the grand hall.

Each mask was different and unique. I marveled at the diversity. It ranged from butterfly wings to plague doctor masks. I smiled a little as the colors floated around me. New Year’s Day was playing in the background. It was a great selection of music.

After a half hour, I still hadn’t seen the mask I was looking for.

There were black and white masks, yes, but none that met the description that he had sent. I went and got a drink, tossing the cup in the trash. Pushing past a curtain, I entered a side room.

The moon was brilliantly shining in the sky. Movement in the reflection of the windows caught my eye. I turned around, seeing the man standing in the doorway. He grinned, not saying a word.

He was beautiful in the pale darkness, hands hanging limp at his sides, but posture still aggressively dominant. I smirked at him, at his wild hair, at his stunning eyes.

Turning away, I walked through another doorway, turning around, begging him to follow me. He trailed my wake, always staying feet back. He was my little ghost, and I loved it.

Ghost.

We made our way to the ballroom, where I waited at the edges. He reappeared in front of me. I was happy we could finally find each other here. I was tired and wanted a dance. We should dance. He did, after all, invite me here.

I reached out my hand and he took it, twirling me into his arms. I heard him hum in happiness, leaning down and kissing my cheek.

“It’s good to see you, Ghost.” I whispered. He looked down at me. His eyes flashed, turning a complete black. I gasped.

“It’s lovely seeing you here, darling.” He growled. Something pricked my neck and I felt the world go black.

There was a faint feeling of being thrown onto something soft and comforting. My limbs were numb, but starting to regain feeling. I smiled as soon as I could open my eyes.

“Oh , where am I?” I muttered as I looked around. No, it hadn’t been a bad dream. I was in a lush, exotic bedroom. I looked around until I saw a figure prowl up to the bed, pushing me down as I tried to sit up.

“Baby, just lay still.” Ghost growled. My eyes were wide as I looked up at him. His dark eyes had faded slightly, but the lust was still in them. I grinned.

“Oh, is that what you want?” I growled back. He chuckled darkly, straddling my hips. He kissed my lips, moving down my neck and biting that soft spot on my collar bone. His hands unzipped my dress, pulling it off. I bit my lip, trying not to make a sound. Ghost’s hands reached behind my back, slowly pulling off the dress. I rolled over, flipping us around and kissing down his jaw. We kept on rolling until we were both down to nothing. His fingertips brushed my skin gently until he grabbed my hips.

I saw his eyes flash until they were pitch black. When I looked up into them, I gasped.

“Y-you’re a d-demon.” I stuttered. He pressed his lips down on mine, sliding in.

“That’s right darling, and you’re going to be mine.” He groaned as we rocked up and down, feeling that knot in my stomach tighten with every movement. I let out a little gasp before I could contain it. My nails dug into his back. I couldn’t even speak as I began my high.

“D-Devin….” I searched for air. He chuckled lightly as I nearly screamed in pleasure. He bit into my neck and I felt an icy cold wash over my body.

He kissed my forehead right as I started to black out, yet again.

When I woke up, I was chained to a chair, Ghost standing behind me. His fingers brushed my neck, pulling my hair back. There was a dull ache in the side of my neck. I groaned quietly.

“Shut up.” He hissed and slapped me. I couldn’t spit out a rational thought. My brain just felt fuzzy. I heard him asking me questions, yelling in my face, but I was just out of it. Another hit to my face made me slump forward. He pulled me back up, eyeing me hungrily.

“You’ll make a strong demon.” He acknowledged. I smiled weakly, as if that was good.

Then pain, glorious pain, washed over me. I coughed up black blood. I saw Ghost standing over me with my still heart in his red hands. I coughed up more black blood before feeling the pain turn to numbness and the numbness to death.

It might’ve been moments. It might’ve been hours.

When I snapped my eyes open, I saw the world in a new light, or shall I saw, a new darkness. Ghost stood next to me, his eyes a dark rage, just like mine were.

“Welcome to Hell, babe.”
