House Of Wolves

The Chase

Remmy's POV

There were everywhere at once. One minute, I was enjoying watching Whysper turn circles around me. The next, I heard a collection of howls. The wolves had arrived.

But these were not the normal wolves. They raced up the hill with wild eyes and fangs barred. I felt panic angrily flood my system. Standing up, I ran back as far as I could. Whysper screamed over my head and dived at the sudden attackers.

I barely made it ten feet when the first wolf pounced, I rolled over and flung the canine back. The dog whimpered, but more came to take its place. I was swinging my pocket knife wildly and my falcon was crying loudly.

Her talons flashed through the daze, clawing at the faces of the wolves. About four or five of them had a collection of long scratch marks down their jaws. That would show them to mess with the avian predator.

Suddenly, there was a girl who let out a howl that appeared out of nowhere. The wolves stopped looking at me like I was a flank steak and trained their vision on her. She advanced towards the vicious pack with a spear in her hand. Another pack of wolves, the ones I had seen, followed her lead.

It was all out chaos.

Pack against pack, tooth to tooth, eye for eye, the fields were bloodying by the minute. I turned to run but found my path blocked by a grey wolf who lunged. Out of nowhere, the girl grabbed my arm and pulled me aside. We ran through the trees. I wasn't sure who she was or why all the wolves weren't attacking her, but I had a feeling that I was going some place safe.

With a sharp whistle, I called Whysper to my location. She flew overhead, occasionally letting out a soft cry. I saw houses start to appear the further we were in the wood. As we stopped, I turned around to thank the girl, but she wasn't there anymore. She had silently disappeared, just like the other wolves.

Whysper dove down to my arm, attaching to my glove. I stroked her head soothingly, still shaking from the experience. That was close.

Too close.

Notes

Hello everyone! I'm back from a temporary hiatus. It felt nice to focus on something besides writing for once. It's a breath of fresh air. Anyways, hope you liked the chapter!
