Chapter 2

Austin's P.O.V

I unfortunately had to sat back on my chair when Mrs. Howard told me so. I hated her. Actually I hated everyone here. People are disgusting. I watched the new one, the ginger, in front of me. What was his name? - I had no idea, but I've had heard a few things before he actually came here. He was a little ginger boy from San Jose, who liked metal music and playing guitar. Oh and he liked cats, I heard. I watched his hair moving a little when he looked up and down. I got ripped out of my thoughts, when Mrs. Howard raised her voice again. "Okay guys, we have someone new on board. Would you mind come to me and introduce yourself?" she asked the ginger and he nervously got up. He slowly moved to her desk and turned around. "Loser!" I yelled and laughed, giving a high five to my friend Phil who sat behind me and laughed with me. "Mr. Carlile, please watch your mouth or I'll have to send you to the principal's office, alright?" she said with her calm voice, but I just rolled my eyes and shrugged. The ginger kid stood nervously in front of the class, biting his lip. "Uh, well, I'm Alan... Alan Ashby. I moved here from San Jose and I love metal music, playing guitar and cats." he stuttered and Mrs. Howard noticed how nervous he was. "Thank you, Alan. I think that's enough for now. If you have any question to Alan, hit him up at lunch!" she smiled and he sat back down on his chair. I smirked to myself and tapped on my table with my finger tips, not listening to what Mrs. Howard said.

Lunch.

Lunch, finally. I met up with my little group of friends at a table in the cafeteria. We started to talk about Alan. "He's pretty cute." Seth, a blonde basketball player said. I frowned at him and looked around, finding the ginger on a table with Tino. "Cute? More like annoying." I said and shook my head. I reached out for my sandwich and looked up again, seeing Tino walking past by us to get some water. I grinned and stroke my leg out, making him fall over. "Haha, look at that. The whale is aground!" I laughed loudly and all my friends laughed with me. We called him whale, because let's be honest, he wasn't very thin. He was overweight. Tino groaned and looked up to me. A few seconds later, Alan rushed over to help him up. "Are you okay, Austin? Why did you do this?" he asked and glared at me. "Because... it's fun?" I laughed and looked at him. "But it's not fun!" he replied. "Uh well, for me it is." I shrugged off and turned around, thinking he would just leave, but he didn't. Suddenly he pushed me. I turned around and looked at the little ginger. "So you really want to get hurt?" I asked and gripped his shoulders, pushing him back. "No, I just want you to stop!" he almost yelled at me and I cracked my knuckles. "Pathetic." I grabbed his shirt's collar and held him up against the closest wall. "You better shut the fuck up, little ginger or I will make you." I threatened, but he just laughed. "Do you think I'm afraid of you?" he asked. Everyone in the cafeteria was staring in shock, no one ever tried to fight against me. No one ever dared. Now there was Alan Ashby, the little ginger from San Jose. He seemed to be shy but he also had a big mouth. "I'm not fucking afraid of you. You bully and hurt people to make you feel better about yourself, so fucking stop and grow some balls." he hissed at me and I pressed him against the wall. "That's enough, Ashby." I whispered harshly and was about to take a swing with my fist to punch his face, but then a teacher ran up and teared us apart. "Mr. Carlile, it's enough! You better leave now." she said and I spat, before I turned around to walk away with my friends. Angry. Yes, I was angry. Pissed off. This little kid dared to talk to me like that. No one does that. I'm Austin Carlile, everyone is afraid of me. I looked back for a last time and saw Alan talking to the teacher. I turned my head back around. "He's brave." Mike said and laughed a little. "To stand up for his fat friend, against you." he added and laughed again. "Shut up, Mike." I hissed and hit my fist against his chest. "No more words about that. I will shut him up. I will find a way." I said and Mike flinched. Alan has to be afraid of me. He's just a shy ginger.
I survived the day without causing any more trouble. I was surprised. When I got home, I pulled out my keys and walked inside the house. I looked around. "Dad? Dad, are you home?" I asked carefully, hoping he wasn't home. But unfortunately, he was home. High and drunk as fuck. "Son, can you get me another beer from the fridge?" I heard him asking with his deep and dry drunken voice from the living room. I walked into the living room and shook my head. "Hell no. Look at you, dad. You're high and already drunk as fuck. Were you at work today?" I asked and watched my dad curling up on the couch. "Oh god, shut up and get me the beer finally." he groaned and glared at me. "Dad no!" I yelled, getting pissed off again. "Get me the fucking beer!" he said loudly and got up. I had to step back. I knew what was going to happen. Why did I ever dare to raise my voice at him like this. Before I could apologize, I felt a hard punch on my nose and I stepped back more. "Get the fucking beer, son!" he yelled and I got another punch into my face, before I nodded and rushed into the kitchen. I quickly grabbed a beer from the fridge and walked back to the living room, giving it to my dad. "You're bleeding." he said and pointed on my bleeding nose, which I only noticed now. "Yes dad." I replied quickly and covered my nose, running up the stairs into the bathroom. I grabbed a towel and pressed it against my nose to stop the bleeding. I looked into the mirror and sighed. "Mom, why aren't you here." I whispered and closed my eyes when I felt a tear running down my cheek. I missed my mom. She was everything I had in my life. We were a happy family when she was still around.

Next school day.

Alan's P.O.V

Today in music class, Mrs. Howard announced that we're going to make a partner project. Creating a song. I hoped I wouldn't get Austin as my partner when Mrs. Howard paired up people. The tall guy kept kicking against my chair during the whole class. When Mrs. Howard paired Tino up with some girl, I sighed disappointed. Only Austin and I were left. "And at last but not least, Alan Ashby and Austin Carlile. Good luck everyone. You have 3 months to finish your project!" she said and smiled. I dropped my head into my hands and ran them down my face. "Great." I mumbled and I heard Austin groaning behind me. Yeah, I'm not happy about it too.I was sure Austin would make me do all the work, as long as he got a good grade. Mrs. Howard kept talking but I didn't listen. I just heard the bell ringing after a while. It was the last class, so everyone left quickly, because it was Friday. Even Mrs. Howard. But I didn't, neither did Austin. We both sat at our tables and waited before everyone had left. Suddenly Austin put a paper on my table. "What is that?" I asked quietly, not wanting to piss him off again, because he was still mad at me. "That's my number, dumbass. Text me later, so we can discuss things about our project. Listen, I don't really wanna work with a loser like you, but I need a good grade so let's just do this and then never talk again. I don't wanna get seen with someone like you." he said harshly and then quickly left the room. I looked after him and then stared on the paper with his number on it. I shrugged a little and then got up, leaving the room as well.

At home.

I was sitting at the dining table with my mom, eating the noodles she'd made for dinner. "I heard you have to make a partner project in music class... uhm, writing a song, right?" she asked me and I looked up, nodding shortly. "Yeah, yeah that's right." I replied and smiled a little. "And, who is your partner?" she asked again and frowned. "Uh, just some guy. Nothing important. He seems nice. I haven't really spoken to him yet." I answered and shrugged, finishing my noodles. I left the plate on the table and rushed to my room, leaving my mom confused. "Strange kid." she mumbled to herself.
When I got to my room, I sat down on the bed and grabbed my phone. I added Austin's number to my contacts. To be honest, I think he was pretty cute. Sure he was rude, but I was curious why he was like how he was. Like Tino said, he wasn't always like that. I shrugged off the thought and started to message him:
To Austin:
Hey Austin, uh I thought we could meet tomorrow at 2pm to talk about our project and song? How about you come to my house?
I wasn't sure when he was going to message me back, but after a few minutes I felt my phone vibrating. I took it and read the message.
From Austin:
Yeah we can do that. Message me your adress and I'll be there.
I quickly messaged him my adress and then no reply.
