Chapter 1

Alan's P.O.V

It was 7:15 in the morning when I opened my sleepy eyes a little, because I was woken up by the beeping noise of the alarm clock next to me. I groaned and sat up, rubbing my eyes. I was a little annoyed by the beeping noise and turned it off, swinging my legs down the bed. I got up, ran a hand through my hair and walked to the bathroom. I rolled my eyes when I noticed that my mom blocked the bathroom. "Mooom, I need to shower." I whined when I knocked on the door. "Yeah yeah, I know, but I have to get ready too." she replied and I shrugged, before I turned around and walked back to my room. I decided to just put on some fresh clothes and a beanie to hide my messy hair. It was my first day on my new school, which meant; I had no friends, I'd be alone in class and at lunch. I shrugged the thought of and decided to worry about that later. I quickly took my bag and swung it over my shoulders, right before I headed downstairs, straight into the kitchen. "Are you ready?" my dad asked when he looked up from the newspapers. I nodded a little. "Sure I am." I laughed a little and took a sandwich, which my mom had made before she blocked the bathroom. "Should I drive you?" the bearded man asked me and I shook my head. "No, I will take the bus." I smiled and then walked to the door. "I see you later!" I waved and moved out of the door, closing it behind me. I ate the sandwich while I walked down the street to the bus stop. My parents and I recently moved into this town so I had to change schools. On one side I was excited to explore my new school, but on the other side I was nervous to be all alone. I finished the sandwich when I arrived at the bus stop and waited for a few minutes, then I saw the yellow school bus. I got in and smiled at the driver, sitting down on a free seat. I rested my chin in my hand and looked out of the window the whole drive.

At the school.

I walked to the entrance of the school, and clung my fingers into my bag. I looked around and then walked inside, right to the secretary to get my schedule. When I got there, I waited in a small queue, behind some other students. I smiled when I looked around. Suddenly my gaze stopped at a tall thin boy with dark hair. I checked him out a little and smiled, but my smile vanished immediately when the guy pushed some kids out of his way, to jump the queue. He walked past by me and pushed my shoulder back a little. "Move, new one." he said without any emotion and walked to the counter to talk to the lady behind it. I frowned and wanted to say something, but I pressed my lips together to shut myself up. Don't say anything, Alan, just shut up. I looked back ahead and waited until I got to the counter. "Alan Ashby, I'm the new one... I, uh, need my schedule." I said a little shy, but the smile of the brown haired lady made me feel comfortable. It was warm and welcomed. After a few minutes, she handed me the schedule and I thanked her. She also gave me a list of books, which I had to pick up from the school's library. I walked out of the office and looked at a little map of the school, because I didn't know how to get to the library. After a few seconds I found the library on the map and noticed it was just down the hallway, so I started walking. I looked down on my schedule and saw that there was also my locker's number on it. 334. It was probably on the second story, I thought, but I decided to look for it after I picked up my books. When I got to the library, I looked at the list and then around. I started to get my books together and sighed in relief when I had everything I needed. Around 10 books. They were heavy as fuck. I slowly walked out of the library and over to the stairs to the second story. As soon as I arrived at the stairs, I saw the tall thin guy again. He leaned against the railing of the stairs, talking to his friends. I looked at him for a few seconds. He was pretty good looking. Brown eyes, brown hair, a nice face, even though he looked a little angry and cold. When he noticed me staring at him, he rolled his eyes and walked over to me. "You got a problem, ginger kid?" he asked and crossed his arms in front of his chest. I immediately shook my head as a response. "N-No... no. I just looked around, I'm sorry." I stuttered and saw him frowning. "Of course you did." he said shortly. His voice scared me a little. It was deep and full of anger. "You clearly stared at me..." the guy was cut off by a male voice behind me. "Carlile, leave the new one alone. Get your shit together." the voice said and I turned around. It was a guy with short black hair. The tall guy shrugged his shoulders and pushed me back a little, which caused that I let go off my books and they fell to the ground. "Loser." the guy said and walked away, laughing, with his friends. "Are you okay?" the other guy asked and stood in front of me, while I picked up my books. "Yeah... I am." I mumbled and looked up. "I'm Valentino... or just Tino." he smiled and held his hand out. I took it and shook it quickly. "I-I'm Alan. I'm obviously the new one." I said quietly and smiled a little. Tino picked up the paper with my schedule and laughed a little. "We have the same class!" he said and grinned. "Uh, yeah?" I asked shyly. "Yeah, music class. I have the same one." he replied. "Can you show me where my locker is? It's number 334." I said and he nodded. "Of course, come with me." Tino said and walked up the stairs. I quickly followed him, walking behind him down the hallway. He stopped after a few meters and smiled. "Here we are." - "Thanks." I opened my locker and put the books inside, except the ones I needed for my class. "Is that guy always so mean to new people?" I asked while I walked to music class with Tino. "Austin? Well... he is mean to everyone, except the people he calls his 'friends'. This little clique." he said and I frowned. "Was he always like that?" "No, not always. It started after he came back to school after he stopped for months. No one knows why he stopped going to school for a while. We assume he was sick for this time, but I don't know of that's true." Tino shrugged and walked inside the classroom with me. I sat down on a free table next to him and put out a pen, my book and a book with blank papers to write on. I didn't notice that Austin came into the class and sat down behind me. I looked up when my chair rocked a little. Austin was kicking against my chair. I turned around. "Could you please stop kicking against my chair, shithead?" I snapped and frowned when the tall guy got up. He put his hand on my table and tilted his head to the side while he looked at me. "Excuse me, what did you just call me? A shithead?" he asked with a dark smirk. "Yeah I did, do you have a problem?" I snapped again and stood up. "I do. No one, especially not little gingers, talk to me like that, got it?" he cracked his knuckles and I was pretty sure he was going to punch me, but Tino rushed over. "Calm the fuck down, Austin. Leave him alone." he said and Austin wanted to say something, but then our teacher, Mrs. Howard came into the room. "Alright, alright. Everyone sit down and listen to me." she said and I heard Austin groaning when he sat back down on his chair.
