The Crow an The Butterfly

See You Again (Kay's P.O.V.)

I arrived at the venue at 11:30 and smiled sadly as I saw all of the people running around, having a blast. I remembered when I was one of them and I remembered even more clearly what it was like to perform for these people.

I hiked my way up and down the slowly rolling hills and made my way to the field where the Kia Soul Stage was set up. I walked over to the long, chain fence that separated the fans from the buses. I showed the security guards my pass that I had kept and they let me through. I walked past rows of buses with my head down, trying to attract as little attention as possible. I saw the Falling in Reverse bus out of the corner of my eye and snuck over to it. I knocked on the door and waited a few moments for someone to open it. About a minute passed, and no one opened the door.

“I guess he had a change of plans,” I mumbled to myself as I turned to leave.

“Hey, Kay!”

I turned back around and saw Ryan with damp hair and only a pair of black skinny jeans on. His torso was dripping wet and I felt a blush rise to my cheeks.

“Oh, I didn’t realize you were showering,” I muttered.

“It’s completely fine. I was just about done anyways. Do you want to come on the bus while I find a shirt?”

“Um...sure.”

I got on the bus and looked around. I had never been on the Falling in Reverse bus before. It was surprisingly clean.

“So, what do you want to do today?” Ryan asked as he threw on a black t-shirt.

“Whatever you want to do. Just as long as we avoid my band and my brother at all cost.”

“No problem, but I was going to go get some food from catering. Would you mind coming with me?” he asked, an adorable smile on his face.

“Not at all,” I smiled back.

He grabbed my hand and we walked off the bus.

I was aware of the stares that were coming my way as Ryan and I walked through the masses of teens. The paranoid part of me thought that they were staring because they recognized me, but the more sensible side of my brain knew that they were staring because I was with Ryan.

“Excuse me?” someone asked.

Ryan and I turned around and saw a thirteen year old girl with large, brown eyes, and long black hair staring up at Ryan.

“Hey, what can I help you with?” Ryan asked, a gentle smile on his face.

“I’m a huge fan. I was wondering if I could have a picture with you. It would mean so much to me,” she said.

“Sure! Kayla, could you take the picture?” Ryan asked.

“Of course!”

A huge grin spread across the girl’s face. She handed me her Canon camera and hugged Ryan around the waist. I took a few pictures and handed the camera back to her.

“Thank you so much! Um...just curious, but are you two dating? Cuz you look really adorable together.”

I blushed and nodded.

“Cool! What’s your name, by the way? I didn’t catch it,” she asked.

“Kayla May. What’ yours?”

“Jen. It was nice meeting you,” she said, giving me a hug.

I hugged her back. She quickly let go, flashed Ryan and I a smile, then scurried off.

“She was completely adorable,” I told Ryan.

“Yeah, she was… When did you change your name to Kayla May?” he asked.

“Everyone knows me as Kay Dales, but I don’t want to share my brother’s last name anymore. I’ve learned the hard way that sometimes you need to separate yourself from your family. Plus, my middle name is May, and I thought it sounded good. Do you like it?”

“I think it’s very you,” he laughed.

We walked around the Pavilion and followed the side trail that led to the catering area. The line was pretty long, but I didn’t mind waiting for him. I leaned against a wall as Ryan got his food and I checked my texts.

Camila: Hey girl! How’s your date going so far? ;)

Me: Really well. Ryan’s been a total sweetie and I haven’t run into my band, Brian, or any of All Time Low yet, so…

Camila: Good! Do you think that Ryan has a chance of getting some tonight? ;P

Me: Maybe… :3

Camila: Ooooo!!! Good luck! I’ll leave you to have more you and Ryan time :)

Me: Thanks. Luv you.

Camila: Love you too, girly!

“Who’re you texting?” Ryan asked with a bite of pizza in his mouth.

“Just Camila. Do you wanna go find a seat on the hill? I heard that This Wild Life is playing and Beebs and Her Money Makers are going to be on after that.”

“Sure. Lead the way.”

I scoped out a good spot and found an area that had a great view of the stages, but it was also unoccupied. I plopped down on the grass and Ryan sat down next to me. I leaned my head on Ryan’s shoulder, and he didn’t seem to mind one bit. I quietly sang along as This Wild Life played and a deep longing in me woke up. It had been weeks since I last sang in front of anyone. Camila would beg me to, but I kept on saying no. I couldn’t bare to sing and be reminded of what I left behind.

“I love hearing you sing,” Ryan said.

“Thank you. I really miss it…”

“Then you should do it again! You shouldn’t have to give up what you love doing.”

“But I do. What am I supposed to do when I get too far along in the pregnancy and I wouldn’t be able to tour anymore? Besides, as long as I’m dating you, I would have a little bit of spotlight, and I want as little as possible. I don’t want to have to add any drama.”

“Life is full of drama, Kay. That’s never going to change. You just need to know how to deal with it.”

“Very true. But, for now, instead of getting super serious, I’d like to have some ridiculous fun with my super adorable boyfriend,” I grinned.

“What do you have in mind?”

Beebs and Her Money Makers started playing ‘Hand Out’ and I smirked at him.

“Let’s dance.”

“You serious? I can’t dance,” he laughed.

“Aww! Come on, Ryan! Please!” I begged, giving him a puppy dog face.

“Okay! Okay!”

Ryan took my hands and we started dancing around, although dancing was probably a generous word. I threw my head back and laughed as he stuck his tongue out in concentration. He spun me around a few times, making me incredibly dizzy. As the song ended, we both collapsed on the ground.

“You’re a great dancer considering you’re expecting,” Ryan chuckled.

“Hey, I’m a great dancer regardless of whether I’m pregnant or not,” I laughed.

“Ryan? Who’re you talking to?” someone asked.

Ryan and I turned our heads around. The smile that was originally on my face slipped as I saw Cleo and Kellin.

“Kay?”

I bit my lip and slowly nodded.

“Did I just hear you’re fucking pregnant?” she fumed.

Oh god...
