The First Punch

As the very last song of the event started to reach its end us girls and the guys headed to the place where the actual party is going to be. As we walked away Immaculate Misconception slowly became quieter and soon faded to a slight buzz. The party area was already becoming full, and I couldn’t wait to see it even more full. As we were walking around I saw the Crown the Empire guys. I saw that Andy, Ben, Hayden, and Brent had girls on their arms. I smiled as they waved to us and started coming over. The guys all giving me big hugs when they got to us.
“So happy to see you.. I’m so sorry to hear about Lia.” Brandon said as he rubbed my back. I smiled and he pulled away after kissing my cheek. I met with all of the guy’s girlfriends and they were all so nice. Hayden’s girlfriend was super nice and so were all the rest of the girls.
“Alex!!” Bailey said letting go of Andy and running strait for me. “HI Alex!!” She hugged me and smiled. “I haven’t seen you in forever!!” She giggled and looked to Mel and Em.
“Yeah I think we were just going to the bar. How about you? You guys coming?” I said taking Mel’s hand and she took Emme’s. When we got over to the bar it was festering with band members.
I turned around to see only Mel behind me. “Where’d Em go?” I tried to yell over the crowd of people.
“Ricky!” She replied and I nodded. We went up to the counter, got out drinks and headed for one of the standup tables. I could see the PTV guys dancing on the floor and I laughed. We continued to drink our drinks and watch people. I think band member are by far the funniest people. Once they get a few drinks in they just get crazy (not to say they aren’t crazy already). An hour must've passed and by now tons of tipsy people were dancing, Mel and I jumped in and started to dance too. I kept looking around the floor to see if I could see Tony or another member. I couldn’t see anyone so I just let the music take me away and I was dancing crazily with Mel. I felt someone come up behind me and I whipped around quick. It was Alan. He looked on the verge of being fully just drunk, but he had some coherence in his eyes left. I laughed and so did he. Another hour passed and by now everyone knew they would be hurting in the morning. I wasn’t yet toppling over but I think I felt a little bit woozy. Mel led me off of the floor and we both stumbled to the table. I hadn’t seen Tony now for 2 hours and I was curious.
“Haveyou seen Tony?” I slurred and she shook her head. I shrugged and went to sit on the bricks that were made into a fence. Mel joined me and we bothe pulled out a cigarette. As we were sitting there taking drags Mel shot straight up looking into the distance.
“Fuck Al..” Mel said looking at me and urging me to stand up. I did so and followed her pointing finger. I started to laugh as though nothing was happening. But I saw it and I couldn’t deny that was him and she was not me. I could feel anger, not sadness but pure anger towards him. I started to briskly move over to where he was. And when I got there I just stood there. Waiting for them to stop but the end wasn’t coming soon. I took my last drag and stomped it out on the ground. I went over to him and pushed him away from her. He was plastered, but that didn’t mean shit. So was I but you don’t see me jumping down Brandon Hoovers’ pants.. He looked stunned then he realized what he had done. I slapped him and walked away Mel trailing behind me. We made it outside of the venue and I could hear him trying to run after us. But we hid in a small corner, he didn’t find us. I could feel myself thinking about the times when Mike would cheat on me and I would take him back. I can’t do that anymore… I heard more footsteps and I listened carefully. I could make out Jaime, Vic, and Mike’s voice. Then I heard Tony, and he sounded mad.
“Dude you really can’t do that even when you get really drunk!! What the fuck were you thinking?!” I heard a sober Jaime say, increasing his tone as the sentence went on.
“I mean I know I’ve done it in the past but that wasn’t me..” Mike said to Tony, and for the first time at a party he was sober.
“I’m sorry!” I heard Tony say. I looked around the corner slightly and watched them.
“You know she’s not gonna take you back… No offense but she has been through a lot and I wouldn’t bet that you’d be the one that she would make an exception for…” Jaime put his hands up to his face and wiped his face.
“He’s right…” Mike said. “And most of the damage is from me..” He sighed and walked around with his hands on his hands.
“So she knows… Where is she?” Vic slurred looking concerned. Tony shrugged and put shit head in his hands. Jaime and Mike were sober while the rest of us were plastered. I heard footsteps coming towards us and I anticipated to see who it was. I soon saw Jaime round the corner and jump at the sight of us.
“C’mon Alex” He helped me up and then Mel. She wrapped her arms around me and started to rub my back. “I think I’m gonna drive Alex and Mel home… Wait where’s Em?” Jaime asked looking around.
“Ricky.” Mike said pointing to Emme and Ricky coming out of the building.
“What the hell happened?!” Emme said walking over to me. She was a bit tipsy, but not knocked off her ass.
“Uh.. Tony.. But let’s get all of you guys home.” Jaime urged. You could tell Emme wasn’t used to saying goodbye to boyfriends for long amounts of time because she just didn’t know what to say.
“Hotels are cheap, and there's one down the street.” Mel said to Jaime and he laughed
“But, don’t you threaten me with a good time.” He continued to sing Bulls in The Bronx and Mel almost lost it.
Emme said her words and kissed Ricky goodbye. We went to the back of the venue to find the same roadie that took my keys and car. He showed us to the car and handed Jaime the keys.
“Be safe.” The roadie smiled and went back to putting the gear into the trailer.
“Ready?” He asked looking at us. We all nodded and Emme wiped a tear from her eye. I got over to shotgun while Em and Mel took the back. Jaime revved up the engine and pulled out of the parking space, trying to find his way out. Once he did we headed down the street to find this hotel. As we drove past bright signs and streetlights I couldn’t help but notice how many people were out and about for it being 3 in the morning. We pulled into a nice hotel's parking lot and I looked up at it.
“This is too nice Jaime!” I said looking up at the building.
“My treat.. Anything for you..” He let out a small smile. I tried not to think of Tony when I saw Jaime's smile. We all got out of the car and followed Jaime to the lobby.
“Hello! Could I get you a room?” The cherry lady at the desk asked. She was a little too cheery for 3 AM. Jaime pulled out his credit card and handed it to the woman.
“I need a room for these ladies and a room for 4 guys.” Jaime explained and the lady nodded her head. She got to work and checked us in and asked how long we would be staying. “Just tonight.” She nodded and finished up.
“Have a lovely stay.” She smiled handing us the keys. As us girls went up to the room we saw 2 beds. I called one and Mel called the same one. Em getting her own bed. We flopped onto the bed and I looked at Jaime.
“Why would Tony do that?” I asked sleepily. Jaime was by the door and ready to leave when I asked.
“He was drunk… You know he loves you.” Jaime said sighing.
“I mean I know.. But when I get drunk you don’t see me kissing anyone else.. I sighed and shut my eyes.
“Goodnight Alex.” Jaime said opening the door and leaving. Soon after Jaime left I fell asleep. I woke up suddenly and what was actually 2 hours felt like 2 minutes. I looked around the room to see Emme and Mel peacefully asleep. My head was pounding and every little noise was amplified. I got up from the bed slowly, holding my head as if that would help. I started walking over to the sink in the bathroom to get some water to drink. After I drank 2 glasses I walked over to the bed and laid down. I felt myself drifting away again and not a minute later I was sound asleep.
