The First Punch

I laid on the horn outside of Mel’s apartment complex and waited for her to come out. I heard a door shut and saw Mel running to me. She was wearing fishnets, vans and a cheap dress she had gotten when we went thrift shopping.
“Ey Al, what the fuck are you wearing?! You trying to attract every guy at the mall?” Mel laughed and got in the car. She grabbed my phone and changed it to Suicide Silence. I pulled onto the road and headed for the mall. “Alex you’ve got like the most attractive outfit on… even I would go down on you.” She laughed and put my phone down. “You got on short shorts, a band tee crop top, and the blue vans Tone got you.. Not to mention you still have your shoot makeup on.. You’re fucking hot.” I laughed and put my sunglasses on.
“Thanks Mel. I’m not single so it’s not like I’ll hookup with anyone I meet at the mall.” Mel scoffed at my remark and took a drag.
“So this won’t be like the time when you and Mike took a break, and you got with 5 people in 4 days..” I choked a little at this. That was probably the best 4 days of my 2 year ‘relationship’ with Mike..
“Noooo!” I laughed as the memories came flooding back. A few minutes later we got to the mall and we hopped out of the car with our bags and headed for the doors. We went straight for Spencer’s and when we got in all of the employees went crazy. Today was the day that i think 2 of the 5 people I slept with were working.
“Alex, how are you?” Mason came close to me and kissed my cheek. “I haven’t seen you in forever.. lookin hot.. You want to hang out?” He winked and wrapped his arm around me. I wriggled out and shook my head.
“I guess you are shit outta luck, I’m with Tony now.” I said as the other guy, Nick, came over to me. They both looked at each other and looked back at me.
“TONY PERRY?!” they both said in unison, well not really saying more like harshly judging. I nodded my head and the shook their heads.
“Wel uhm-“ Mason cleared his throat. “You ladies know where everything is, if you need help just holler.” He and Nick walked behind the counter and picked up their phones. I caught up to Mel and we walked around together.
“Al look at these!! These would be perfect for you!!” Mel said enthusiastically as she pointed into the case of plugs. I looked in to see these beautiful blue stone flower plugs. It was even better because they were my size, 3/4”. “Do you want them?” Mel said turning to me. I nodded and she called another guy working over. “Can I have these?” She asked as she pointed to them. He nodded, unlocked the cabinet and got them for us.
“Anything else?” He asked smiling at me. He was new here and has never seen or met me, I don’t think.
“We’re still looking.” Mel smiled and walked away. He held the plugs in his hand and started to blush. I held out my hand and he shook it.
“Connor.” He said and I smiled.
“Alexandria, but everyone calls me Alex.” I could feel myself starting to blush. Why was I blushing? I never blushed when I first talked to Tony, he didn’t blush the first time he talked to me… what is this?! Alex.. Alex.. Allleeexx. I thought it was just me trying to snap myself out of my thoughts but in reality it was Mel trying to get my attention. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at her.
“You okay babes? You hardcore spaced..” I saw that she was holding up a dress that she had found on the clearance rack. “Al I found this fucking brilliant dress! It’s your fucking size!!” I looked closer at it and It was all black, came down to the mid thigh, and was covered in black lace. Mel turned it around and she squealed. “The back is lace up!! I’m getting it for you.. There’s no way you can’t have this.” She laughed and continued through the store. I looked around me and saw that Connor was still near me. As I glanced at I noticed that his ears were stretched even more than Tony’s or mine. He looked like he has as many tattoos as Tony, but Connor defiantly has more piercings. He turned around to walk to the counter and he saw that I was looking at him. He walked to me.
"So you are kinda like a part of PTV? Or what?" He asked slipping his hands into his pockets.
"Well I'm their merch girl for all of their tours and modeling and stuff. But when I'm not doing that I'm modelling for SuicideGirls." He smiled and nodded.
"A girl I went to school with was a SuicideGirl.. I think she's still doing it.." I looked at him curiously.
"What is her name, maybe I know her?" He looked up to try and remember.
"Uhm... I think it was you..." I giggled as he did too. "I never really knew you because well you were always with som girl with like pastel coloured hair and the band.. And also you were like adored by every guy and girl in the school. But we talked a lot… and one day I uh really got to hang out with you one day." He looked down at the floor and stepped on a piece of fuzz on the floor.
"Well I was never really popular. I mean people just wanted to get whatever money I made and get closer to the band.. And when Mike and I got together like when I was 22 and out of school, so many people that weren't my friend wanted to be my friend. It was really weird. But before I had gotten with Mike I hooked up with people, like a lot. But then when I got with Mike suddenly all of the guys who had told me it was just a one night stand were telling me I was cheating on them with Mike… There was really only like 4 nice guys..” I laughed nervously. “Why am I even telling you this.. Wait.. you’re Connor.. What is your last name?” He blushed and I looked at him happily. “Heplo.. Connor fucking Heplo..”
“Yeah, if you didn’t get the hint earlier.” He smiled looking at me.
“Oh the hint that you ‘really got to hang out with me one day’?” I laughed and remembered my times with him.
So it’s a pretty long story about Connor and I. But I guess I could divulge some information.. So it was junior year and I was sitting next to Lian at the lab table waiting for class to start. At the table you could fit 3 people easily and I always sat in the middle, mostly because Lian didn’t like sitting next to new people. The teacher came into the room with a new student next to her. He had stretched ears and tons of tattoos.
“Class this is.. uh what is your name again?” Mrs. Lacey asked, looking to the boy. Whom at first and second and tons more glances I thought was hot, adorable, cute, etc. He faced the class with his hands in his leather jacket. I was really hoping it was faux.
“Hi guys… I’m Connor.” He nodded and looked at the teacher.
“Okay so yes this is Connor and he will be with us for the rest of his high school career. Now if you would like to take a seat… by Alex and Lian that would be great.” She pointed and he nodded. Lian and I were talking the whole time about how cute he was. LIan was going out with Jaime now and her motto was ‘I can look but I can’t touch.’ Connor rounded the table and sat down next to me. The teacher started saying some shit about science and work and whatever so obviously I put in my headphones and tuned her out. Lian was listening and Connor was trying but he couldn’t take his eyes off of me. I looked at him and smiled. I held out my head phone and he looked at it weirdly.
“I’m Alex.. Hi. You wanna listen to some Marilyn Manson? This class is shit. I don’t even pay attention but I still get good grades, here.” I put the headphone in his ear and he smiled.
“This is my favorite song by them.” He began mouthing the words and I started to laugh quietly. “So you like Pink Floyd too?” He said. I was curious as to how he knew I loved them…
“Uh how do you— wait my tee shirt..” I laughed and put my head on his shoulder. I remember he smelt great, I honestly don’t know what it was but I always called it Connor by Calvin Klein. He put his head on top of mine and we stayed like that as the royal bitch Lacey lectured. The bell rung and it was the end of the day.. finally. Lian, Connor, and I got up and got our stuff together.
“Hey what’re you doing after school?” He asked shyly, looking at the floor.
“Uhm, I was just going to walk home with Lian and her boyfriend Jaime, yah know cause it’s so nice.. Wanna join?” I held out my hand for Lian and she held it. He nodded and we headed for the spot where Jaime always waited. When we got there Lian let go of my hand and went over to Jaime and hugged and kissed him.
“So I’m guessing that’s Jaime.” Connor chuckled. Lian and Jaime linked hands and waved us on to start walking.
As we walked out of the building we headed down to the gas station to get some stuff. I got tons of monsters and a lighter while everyone else just got food and drink. We walked out and I pulled out a spliff. I lit it and we continued to walk to Lian’s.
“Hey guys I think we are going to branch off, so you guys can uh.. have fun.” They both smiled and headed the way her house. Connor pulled out a cigarette and lit his. He took a drag and looked to me.
“So where the fuck are we going Alex?”
“Somewhere fun.” I grabbed his hand and we walked down the street hand in hand. When we got to a big house on the richer part of town I went up to the door and unlocked it.
“Who’s house is this?!” Connor said looking at the tall ceilings and world class artwork on the wall. I walked to to the small table by the door and I pulled a note off of it. The note read:
Hey there little sis! I’ve gone for 3 months on a photography trip! I’ll be back on the 27th of June. Take care and have fun ;) -Will <3
I put the note down and walked to Connor. I put my hands in his pockets and pulled him closer to me. I went up on the tips of my toes and gave him a kiss. At first it was just one kiss but that morphed into making out. Which turned into me taking off his jacket and his shirt. I think you know where we were going with this. As we walked up the stairs continuing to take off our clothes we made it to the huge room which was mine. I unhooked my bra and slipped out of my underwear. I crawled on top of him and started to leave trails of kisses down his body. Some places I knew were defiantly going to leave a mark.
“For God sakes Al what is wrong with you.. You keep spacing out!” Mel playfully hit my shoulder and showed me a few cute things she had found. I picked out like 5 tee shirts and gave them to her. She put everything on the counter and waited for someone to come to the counter seeing that everyone was busy talking to the flood of customers that had come in.
“Hey guys you all set?!” Connor came over and Mel nodded. He started to pick through her huge pile of stuff and rung it all up. “So uh your total is $235.. How would you like to pay exactly?” Mel took out her phone which had the code saved onto it and she showed him it. After he typed it in all she had to pay was fucking $20… I’m guessing she just picks out whatever is covered not he card. Connor smiled and started to bag all of her stuff. We had 2 really big bags with smaller bags inside of them. Before we left Connor had stopped me and gave me his number and a kiss on the cheek. As we walked out of the store Mel stopped and sat down in some chairs.
“So.. Connor.. You and Connor.. Please don’t tell me this will be like it was everyday in junior and senior year.. You have Tony and you two are great together.” I laughed but looked at her seriously.
“I won’t get back with him, it was just a high school relationship. Nothing more.” She nodded and looked to me.
“Have you eaten today Al?” I shook my head. “Same.. Al we gotta really start working on this.”
“Working on what, I’m fine, I’ve always been fine. Nothing is wrong. It’s not like I’m cutting again.” I was getting really defensive now.
“Al but you said..” I cute her off
“I did cut on tour but it’s not like a serious thing, it was once and when something bad was happening. I’ll be okay Mel.. Really.” I said standing up and picking up the bag and my bag. She did the same and we went to the exit near my car. All of a sudden my phone starts going off and I look to see that it’s the lovely Lian calling me. I brought it up to my ear and heard Lian’s voice.
“Hey Alex!! How are you?!” I could hear her voice shaking.
“I’m good but how’re you? You seem.. on edge.”
“I kinda am but it’s nothing. Oh let me tell you about Kel and Quin now.. They are really uh happy I guess. Right now they’re both over and just doing couple shit. Jaime is just sitting on the floor playing with MoonMoon like a child… A she’s so cute, I remember when we found the precious little kitten. But anyways yeah Kel and Quin-“ She was cut off them I heard Kel come on, he sounded so happy!
“My life is perfect and that is all!" Then he hung up. But a few minutes later Lian calls back.
“Kel hung up." All you can hear in the background now was Kel embarrassed and saying sorry and Quin laughing really loud.
“It’s okay haha. I love him. But everything good with you? You sure? Oh and I met someone at the mall you might remember.” I said letting my mind wander as I got in and started the car.
“Uhm I’ll tell you when you come over tonight for a band dinner with Kel and Quin and.. Wait who’d you see at the mall?!”
“I’ll tell you when I get to the dinner. What is the dress code?” I asked pulling out of the parking lot and heading for Mel’s place. As I drove she sorted my clothes from hers.
“Well nothing fancy.. It's just a barbecue.. Just nothing SuicideGirlish. But bring a bathing suit.”
“Okay sounds good. I’ll see you at 6?” She okayed it and We said our goodbyes and hung up.
“Who was that?" Mel said as she plugged her phone into the car.
“Lian, I’ve to go to a dinner tonight.”
“Oh fun.” She started playing BMTH and soon we got to her apartment. “Thanks for coming along!! Bye love you!” She blew a kiss grabbed her bag with her shit in it and went to her door. I plugged in my phone and started blasting Rage Against the Machine and pulled onto the road. When I pulled into my drive way I saw Tony out front holding a small kitten in his arms. I quickly jumped out of the car, grabbed my bags, and ran to him, grabbing the kitten in the process.
“What do you want to name him?” Tony asked happily. I looked over the cat and saw he was all white with a tiny bit of grey and black around his eyes.
