The Throw-Aways

The Quickness Kills the Cold

When I came back, everyone was sitting around on the bus’s front lounge. I slumped down in the corner of the couch, trying to be entertained by the football game going on the screen. The players ran on the field, chasing after the ball like moths attracted to shooting stars. It was feeble and seemed hopeless.

Austin came next to me and silently pulled me into his chest, where I shook. Instinctively, as if I was being physically assaulted, I covered my head in my arms. All Aus did was rub my back and continue watching the football game as if I wasn’t an emotional train wreck.

It was a crooked sort of calming.

“I s-swear t-that I c-closed t-the d-door.” I stuttered out. My tears had drowned me and now I was a dry pool of emotion. My throat closed and I struggled to form words.

“I know, I know.” He murmured to me. I looked up to meet the liquid brown orbs.

“What do you mean?” I took a shaky breath and asked. Tino came and sat down near Austin. All the man could do was shake his head and turn down the TV.

“As soon as we walked out and Jay walked in, we knew there was going to be trouble. It’s not like she can change in the instant.” The drummer sighed. Why did Jake have to pay the price? Why must this pain come upon us? Why did Jay have to inflict it?

“But why didn’t you say anything?” I sniffled. Phil smiled over from the card game he and the ginger were playing.

“It was all because of Jack. As soon as we left you two alone, he went on and on about how wonderful Jay was. The thing was, if we said anything, the two band’s relationships would suffer and not only that, but he would deny anything bad we said about her.” He input. My brain was slowly starting to break down and there explanations were not helping.

“Alan said one thing about if he really knew Jillian and he got WAY defensive. It was as if we were about to shoot an innocent person.” Alan muttered. I sighed a little. Jack really was in love with Jay.

“We were trying to tell them about how it wasn’t Jillian, it was JAY. All they did was brush it off. We figured we were going to reveal her true nature when we got back on the bus, but….” Phil dropped off. Aaron passed me a sympathetic look.

“So what are we going to do about it?” I asked them. They sighed.

“We really can’t. Jay found the perfect immunity. If we bash another band’s member’s girlfriend, we’ll not only look bad, but we’ll get a bad reputation doing so. We can’t risk upsetting Jack, Alex, Rian, or Zach with any of this. It’ll break off a great relationship between our two bands. There’s very little we can do.” Alan sighed. His phone went off, lighting up his face. Kylar was texting him again. Now that the word was out, Kylar was pissed off. She had been rage-texting Ashby for the past hour.

“I wish we could do something.” I muttered. There really wasn’t many options. We can’t do anything to make us or them look worse. Jack would just have to figure this all out on his own. I just wished he could figure it out quickly.

“I know. I hope Jack will drop her soon.” Austin grumbled. I sighed and tucked my head into his chest, closing my eyes. Today had been stressful. My Skarsson genes told me that in stressful times, sleep it off!

“It’s going to be a rough few concerts without Jake around.” I muttered unhappily. Austin laughed, kissing the top of my head.

“It’ll be rough for all of us.” He reassured. I sighed and stared at the carpeted floor, studying the sporadic patterns that graced the stitches.

“I’m not getting another dog, not for a long while.” I grumbled. You can’t just go out and replace Jake! Besides, how do you house train a puppy on the bus?

“That’s understandable.” Austin hugged my tighter and we fell into that uneasy silence that happened more often than not.

Only when Phil broke the silence by saying, “Would you please stop thinking so loudly!? I can basically hear each detail of how you’re going to murder Jay!” we all laughed. Cracking a smile, the tension ebbed out of the room. Although Jake’s death weighed heavily and made up for the weight of my arm that I was missing, our sadness was cracked with little jokes that radiated out of our two jokesters, Tino and Phil. They were the comedy duo we all needed.

“I’m not saying Jay needs to go away, but if she gets pushed out of an airplane into acid and punched in the face and bitten in half by a shark and then kicked in the stomach and falls into a trench, I would not complain.” I grumbled. Austin laughed a little.

Hey, it was true!

Notes

That last part tho....I tried to include as many threats you guys requested as possible. I got the shark, airplane, punches, trench, and acid in. Anything else? I'll try to add it :3 All your threats make me die of laughter! XD You guys kill me (in a good way)

And if you get that song reference, I love you forever <3

Anyways, I'm sorry I hadn't posted much! I know where I want to go, just not how to get there. I promise I'll be better about it! I love you all!

Stay beautiful!
