The Throw-Aways

Hey Youngblood, Doesn't it Feel Like the Whole World is Standing Still?

As soon as I took a step out into the lobby, Alan, Austin, Tino, Phil, and Aaron all turned their heads to watch me step out. A nurse had accompanied me down, helping me slowly adjust to the sudden return of weight on my right side. I waddled forward, still beaming.

“Wow, Raven….” Austin trailed off. I held the metal Project Motion case in my right hand. Thinking slowly, I moved my left arm to wave at him. I looked down at the sleek new arm I had acquired.

“Good looking.” Alan breathed. I smiled a little. Phil took the case from me and held haul my stuff. I gave him a grateful look, my nerves still tingling from all the prodding. It was like a jolt had gone through my system. As we exited the building, the front desk nurse beamed at me.

We wobbled onto the bus, closing the door behind me. It was clean and tidy, as usual. Phil helped stash my stuff back into my bunk as Austin offered his arm around me to help.

“Do you need some assistance?” His warm eyes locked onto my arm. His hand was extended.

“Yes, please.” I nodded and held out my left hand. As soon as Nubby the nub moved, the rest of my arm reacted. The new technology really did work! The nerves and communication system through the body to the brain really had connected and had been established.

“I think that is one cool arm.” Tino muttered. My robotic fingers wrapped around Austin’s hand as we carefully walked down and sat on the couch.

“Hah, yeah it is! It’s all smooth and jet black and futuristic and stuff.” I scoffed. Still slowly getting the hang of my new arm, I brought my hand up to my face, still rotating my fingers. I felt weird and wonderful at the same time.

“So would it be bad to suggest watching Iron Man tonight?” Alan asked. I shook my head.

“It was my favorite movie even before today!” I laughed. Oh, Iron Man. I loved that film and adored Robert Downy Junior. Austin wrapped an arm around my shoulder.

“So does R-Girl now stand for Robot-Girl?” Tino asked. I rolled my eyes and stuck out my tongue.

“No! You know, I might have a robotic arm, but I can still back hand you!” I teased. His eyes went wide and he ducked behind Aaron.

“No, don’t do that!” The drummer squeaked. We all chuckled a little and I settled into the couch as Alan popped in the disc for our favorite Marvel movie.

“So have you named the arm yet?” Austin asked me. I thought for a moment.

“I’ll name it Redemption.” I finally decided. Aus nodded as we both turned to the screen. It was a fitting name for such an arm, I thought to myself.

Redemption, because this was my way to getting myself back up behind Infernal and being able to play without worry.

Notes
