For What It's Worth..

-I'm breaking in, shaping up.-

I sighed as I clicked off my webcam. I heard angry yelling already, coming from just outside the door. I was relieved that I had enough time to say goodbye to Chris, without having to explain the anger coming from my family members.

It was almost embarrassing. Ever since I got back, its been something or another. That much had not changed. Even when I spent that year at Mias, it wasn't this bad. Maybe its because they need a referee and a punching bag there too make it official. I thought bitterly. This was the main reason I didn't stay with family members after Dylan. Because they just would have made it worse.

Nova came scampering in, her hands on her ears. I felt myself go cold. She didn't need to hear this bull, my sister and I heard it for a lifetime; even when my sister was a part of the argument. I rushed over to the little girl, picking her up in one swoop. Her arms shaking slightly as they pulled themselves around me. “It’s alright, Vee. We’ll go up too your room and watch some 6teen, okay?” I walked into the foyer of my sisters humongous house, I looked over to my left and saw the door wide open and my sister and mother were arguing over god knows what. Do they have no shame? I was beginning to get angry myself, I usually used too let whoever was arguing with each-other just have at it; because my previous attempts always made me out to be the bad guy. I quickly went up the stairs with Nova in arms, walked down the long hallway to her room. I set her on her bed, and turned on her favorite show.

“I’ll be right back. I got to go tell mommy and grandma that they can do that somewhere else.” She looked at me with those same bright crystal blue eyes as her mother, and I saw fear. Fear for her family being hurt. The same fear I had; still have for our family. I gave her a kiss on the top of her head. She whimpered. “Be careful JenJen.” I smiled at her new nickname she gave me when I got home. “Don’t worry, they’re just being brats.” I reassured her. I made my way down the hall, listening too make sure she stayed there. I heard the theme song for 6teen start playing and that was all I needed. I hussled down the stairs. I saw the two had made there way down the walkway a bit. I took long strides out the door, pulling it closed.

It seemed neither had heard me walking up to them yet. So I decided to announce myself. “So, I see you decided on yelling away from the house, yet conveniently forgot to shut the damn door.” I snapped. The two ceased their raised voices. They both turned to me, already trying to get more words out. I put my hands up. “I don’t want too hear it. I really fucking don’t. But how about you keep your argument away from here, at um, how about five miles away from Nova.” I glared at them. Immediate regret came from Anna's eyes, my mothers not so much. Anna sighed. “Sorry Jenny, I know you hate when we fight.”

“No, I hate when you fight around a four year old. Who is up in her room scared for her mommy and grandmother. I wouldn't be surprised if she was blaming herself.” I know that hit a nerve of some sort. I knew that was last thing on Anns mind that she wanted to happen to Nova. I gave a leveled look too my mother. As much as she won’t admit it, she still acted like a child. “You know what fine.” My mother raised her hands in the air in defeat. “Anna, can you go and check on Vee, please.” I looked at her, and she nodded, already making her way up the walkway. Turning back too my mother, she gave me a pissed look.

I crossed my arms. “What the fuck was that about?” I tilted my head slightly, narrowing my eyes. I looked a lot like my mother, and around where I grew up I always seemed to get noticed as ‘Lydia’ or ‘Lydias daughter’. Which in turn, I suddenly got my mothers reputation without so much as uttering a word of protest by me. Not that I would've been able to.

She made a sound of frustration, and started waving her hands. I knew before she said anything, she was going to pull the whole, ‘you can relate too me, because you look and act like me’ crap. Well at least, I thought it was. “We were having a fight about Ray. He said something that offended Ann and she left. So I went and tried to talk to her about it.” Well, that was bold face lie if I ever heard one,I knew Anna always had something too say, but she didn't give two shits about our stepfather; Ray. “And then she just blew up on me, and then that's when the fighting started.”

Oh, so shes going to keep this up. “Uh huh. So if I go and talk to Anna, right this second, she’s going to say the exact same thing; except shes going to go on and say something about Ray.” I saw her look panicked for a second, then she tried to cover it. “Alrighty then.” I turned and power walked up the way to the door, opening it up and yelled. “Hey Anna, can you come here for a second.” I walked through the door, noting that my mother was hurrying up the walkway after me. “I’m upstairs!”

I took the steps two at a time, trying to keep a distance from my mom. I turned the corner of the stairs, nearly running into Ann. “What's up?” She asked. “So, what was the argument about outside?”

She looked from me too mom, and gave a slight smirk. “Oh what, shes not going to tell you.” I turned too mom. She was glaring at Ann. “What. Is. She. Not. Saying.” I asked, slightly annoyed. “Oh, that she doesn't like you dating a musician, and she was going on about all her mistakes. She kept saying that you were going to make the same mistakes.” She rushed out.

I looked over at my mother. “Really, mom.” I snided. “Now, Jen, its not what you think-” I cut her off. “Really, what am I supposed to think. You just outright lied to me outside, instead of being honest with me.”

“I tried to tell her that you can make your own decisions, but she kept saying that she read up on your boyfriend, saying this and that.” I turned to look at Anna again. “And this was the part that set me off, she said you were better off with Dylan.” She gave me this pained look. I could feel myself, emotionally sinking. “Jen, I didn't mean it like that.”

I whirled on her. “Really what did you mean?! You want me back with that asshole, he hurt me over and over again. And when I finally had enough, I left. And I never once went back.” I shoved past her, walking down too one of Annas many spare bedrooms, the one where I was keeping my stuff for the night. I went inside, and tried to not slam the door in my bad mood. It was the last thing everyone needs. I was pissed. She basically told me that I was better off with an ex, who didn't even appreciate me. She didn't even know Chris. I let out a frustrated growl, I was more annoyed than anything, if I was honest with myself. I turned and locked my door, not really wanting company right now. I went over to the desk by the window, and put some music on over my laptop. I started relaxing when Slipknot came on, I nodded my head slowly too the music. I sat down, and pulled up my drive, where I had all my stories. I started writing, it was the one thing I could do, to keep myself relaxed and sane. I hoped to have a short story by the end of it.

I started thinking about the conversation with Chris. I was torn, wondering what I should do. Keep travelling or stay in Scranton. One would think the answer should be obvious. But when where questions going to answer themselves. Never. I stopped writing, letting the music just flow into my being. It changed from Slipknot too Simple Plan. I smiled as Jet Lag started playing. Life loved throwing a twist at me.
“What time is it where you are?” I sang.

I miss you more than anything. And back at home you feel so far.
Waitin’ for the phone to ring. It’s gettin’ lonely livin’ upside down.
I don’t even wanna be in this town. Tryin’ to figure out the time zones, makin me crazy
.”

I started humming the rest of the song, closing my eyes. Thinking that maybe the choice wasn't as hard as I thought it too be. I thought back to the numerous times in different hotels and motels. And I let myself remember the homesickness, the loneliness. I knew I said so many times that I like being alone, and I still do. But that doesn't mean that I can’t get lonely. “Hmm.” And even though the travelling was great, it was a little annoying. Hotels, repetitive food, sometimes really bad food. The stares, that some gave me when they knew I wasn't from around there.

What was a person to do?

_________

It was finally Saturday, the final day of Motionless In Whites tour. And to my happy surprise, their final concert was going to be in New Brunswick, Canada. Although he was still hours away, he was closer now. I didn't get too talk too him since Wednesday, although I was a big girl and could handle it, it was kind of driving me crazy. For fun, I searched up Motionless In White on YouTube, and I came across a new interview that was posted just yesterday.

It started off with the interviewer asking some basic questions, like ‘How was the tour?’ ‘What are your plans for the future?’ ‘What can we all expect from Motionless In White in the near future?’ “New Album’. Chris, Ricky, and Ghost where all answering questions left and right. Then came the personal questions, and I almost flinched. Almost.

The interviewer turned to Chris. “So, I hear there's a rumor going around that Chris Motionless has a girlfriend.” Chris grinned slyly. “Where’d you hear something like that.”

“A little birdy told me somewheres far away from here.”

I couldn't help the snort that came out of my mouth, from trying not to laugh. He held the microphone back too Chris. “Well, yes I have a very beautiful woman who I am calling my girlfriend.” I seen him smile happily. “I didn't ask if she was beautiful.”

Chris didn't miss a beat. “I had a feeling the next question was going to be just that, so I saved you the trouble.” I saw the interviewer chuckle. “Well, you got that right. That was definitely my next question.” He turned towards the cameras. “Hear that ladies, Chris Motionless of Motionless In White is now off the market.” Chris had a bashful smile on his face. Aw, why is that face so adorable when he does that? I pouted, and tried not to squeal. God, I couldn't help myself. I made a little squeaking sound. I didn't listen too the rest of the video, I got distracted by a knocking at my door. “Who is it?” I called.

“Its Vee!” I heard Nova yell cheerfully.

“Come on in, Vee.” I chuckled, getting up out of my bed. The little blonde girl opened the door, pushing it with all her might. I looked at her fondly. She looked so much like my sister when she was younger, and a whole lot cuter. I snickered quietly. I kneeled in front of her, coming down to her height. “Whats up?” I asked. She had her hands behind her back, swaying slightly, she was wearing a black AC/DC tshirt, and bright pink leggings. I was suddenly glad she was only four, and could get away with looking adorable in the leggings, unlike some adults who wore them no matter what they were doing. The AC/DC shirt was my doing, it was one of my many gifts I’d owe her for not being able to see her since she was born.

“Can we go too Timmys?” She asked sweetly. I smiled. A Tim Hortons junkie like her mother, not that I was one too talk, I bought so many Iced Cappuccinos when I was younger, it was a miracle I didn't go crazy from the caffeine. “Let me guess, Mommys busy and she told you too ask me?” I tapped my chin as if too think about it. She nodded excitedly.

“You just want a hot chocolate, don’t you?” It was December, so it was going to be crazy busy at the Tim Hortons. “Alright, you go get your sneakers on and sweater, and I’ll meet you downstairs in the foyer.”

“Thank you JenJen!” She jumped up and down and gave me a quick hug. Running back out the door, I heard her giggling excitedly. I went over to grab skull wallet and went to find my sister. I found her in her office. I knocked on the door, she turned towards me, a smile immediately lit her face.

“You’re taking her too Timmys?” She asked hopefully. I nodded. She let a breath of relief. “Thank you, I've been swamped with requests to do peoples websites, and I just seemed to be distracted lately.”

I was proud that shortly after getting her daughter back, she decided to smarten up; she got into the web designing business, and she was becoming pretty popular. Her life was finally beginning to come together. “It’ll get easier.” I reassured her.

She looked at me with a look I've known it to be her stubborn look. “Ha, its easier, people just need too slow the fuck down on the requests.” I laughed. “Alright, stubborn. Call me if you need anything, or too check up on Nova.”

“Jen, if there's anybody I trust alone with her, it's you.” she chided. I shrugged and made my way downstairs. I grabbed my leather boots, tied them up; and then put my Motionless In White sweater on. Smirking slightly, as I thought it was the first time I was actually wearing their merch. I heard Nova running upstairs, and then she appeared at the top of the stairs. “Are we taking your bike Auntie?” I nodded. “I don’t see why not. Its not snowing yet.” Which was one thing I was grateful for, but at the same time, the longer it held off, the longer winter we were going to have. Well, I wasn't too sure how it was in America, but here in Nova Scotia, Canada, in the middle of nowhere was the worst possible place too have winter.

But Anna, living just outside of town, it can’t be easy. Big house, big ass driveway. I shuddered. I saw Nova run back down the hall, and appear a short minute later with her helmet I bought her. It was neon pink, with the Cheshire cat on it, along with a black visor. She scampered down the stairs. I put her helmet on, going slowly that she remembered how to do it next time. I pulled the strap a little tighter so it didn't fall off. “That good?” I asked. She nodded. I grabbed my keys and went outside, where my black motorbike was waiting. I grabbed my matte black helmet and pulled it over my head. Getting on the bike, I pulled the kickstand up, holding it up straight with my legs. I picked Nova up and put her in front of me. “Hold on tight.” My voice sounded muffled. She grabbed the handles in front of her, while I turned it on. My arms keeping her in a little bubble, I lifted my feet off the ground as I turned the handle to move us forward.

Soon, we were racing down the long driveway, that was surrounded by barren trees, that had lost their leaves. I heard Nova let out a giggling screech, I couldn't help but laugh at how she did that every time. We came to a halt at the end of the driveway, looking back and forth too make sure nothing was coming. Which I wondered why I bothered, since no one took this road half the time. I pulled out and raced down the empty road.

When we finally got into town, which took all of ten minutes, it was suddenly busy with traffic. So I took every caution, to mind the road. Although normally I wouldn't, I would love to piss some of these people of; but I had a little passenger with me, that meant the world too me. I pulled into the nearest, and frankly less busy Tim Hortons. Turning off the engine and putting the kickstand down, I lifted Nova up and set her beside the bike. “Try and take of your helmet.” As I swung my leg around too the ground. I got mine off in no time flat. I looked at the little one beside me, struggling with the strap. She let out a frustrated grunt. “Here, here I got it.” Easily undoing the strap for her. She pulled it off, shaking her head. Instead of the annoyed look I thought she would have, she was beaming. I grabbed my keys, and walked her into Timmys and ordered her a hot chocolate and myself, a small ice cap. I took our drinks over to an empty table, setting them down and putting our helmets on one of the empty chairs beside us.

She took off her sweater and put it over her chair, which was slightly taller than her. She was up on her tippy toes just too put it over. I did the same with mine. As soon as I sat down, she bombarded me with facts about her favorite show 6teen. I nodded when was needed and even got into a deep conversation about our favorite characters on the show. Mine was Nikki, I loved that she had a no nonsense, and didn't care what anyone thought attitude. And piercings, of course. Nova’s favorite was Jude, which didn't really surprise me at all. I was having such a great time, just listening to my niece talk about everything that came to her mind; so much so that I didn't notice some people I would have normally avoided, come into the store.

“Is that Jenny?” My ears picked up my name being said. I looked around, and saw Dylan and a few choice people who I would personally like to watch as they flew around a room on a ceiling fan; with the only thing keeping them there was barbed wire. Really sharp barbed wire.

I decided to ignore them, figuring it would be best. And for the time I was spending with my niece, it was worth not saying anything. “Hey, Jen?” Nova asked. “Yes, Vee?”

“Can we go get a present for mommy?” I thought about it. Christmas was only a few short weeks away. So, I didn't see why not. “Sure thing.” I looked at my empty drink container. “You finish your hot chocolate?” She nodded. “Then lets be off.” I grabbed my sweater as I stood up, Nova came over too me too help her zip up her sweater. We grabbed our helmets, leaving our garbage on the table, like the sign told us to. I rushed her out the door, when I noticed that Dylans group was slowly getting back up again. I looked down at her. “Nova, as soon as we get on the bike, we’re going to go really fast, and I want you too hang on real tight, okay?” She looked really serious for a moment.

“Okay, Auntie.” I guess nothing gets by this one. I thought. She could sense my discomfort when the group came in. I hurried and put my helmet on, while Nova somehow got the helmet strap in position half way. I pulled it the rest of the way making sure it was on securely. Same procedure as last time. Pulled the kickstand up, and placed Nova in front of me, and the rest was easy. The little engine roared to life under me, vibrating the entire seat. I saw Nova grip the handles, and we were off like a bat out of hell. I quickly noticed Dylans group running out behind me. Some ran off behind me, while the others ran to a car. I was at the exit, trying to find an opening too leave. I looked at my mirrors seeing Dylan, Corina and Peter. I growled. “Fuck it.” And sped out in front of a car. I heard them beep their horn at me. I stuck my middle finger too the air, hoping that the group saw it. I glanced down at Nova, who was clutching the bike handles for dear life, but she was laughing hysterically. I sped up and passed a couple other cars, trying to put as much distance between Tim Horton's and me. I had to think of better plan of action, I needed something bigger to drive, so Nova wasn't in any danger of getting hurt. I might have been over reacting, but it was better too be safe than sorry.

I didn't want to chance running into those assholes again. I blew out a sigh. I got it. “Nova, we’re going to stop at great grandpa's house for a second. Alright?” I practically yelled. I saw her helmet move up and down. That would be a yes.

I pulled into my grandpas driveway. I put down the kickstand. I let Nova jump down by herself, as I held the bike in place.I pulled my helmet off, and swerved my leg over to the ground. I walked up to the door with Nova in hand. I didn't bother knocking, because Don never did care if I knocked or not. “Grandpa Don! Guess who?” I yelled. “Is that my favorite granddaughter I hear?” The tall, lanky old man walked in, with a smile so big, I wondered how it fit his face.

He gave me a bear hug, and turned to pick up Nova, who was more than happy to see her great grandfather. He had salt and pepper hair, as I liked to call it. It was short, pulled back across his head. He reminded me of mobster in that way. “So what brings you two here.” He asked, looking at Nova in his arms, then looking at me. “Actually I was wondering if we could borrow your truck to go shopping with.”

“Hm, I don’t see why not. Why?” I explained what happened at Timmys, in not so many words. His brown eyes narrowed, his older face wrinkling more with anger “You can take the truck. But you better be careful, I never liked that boy, and you know why.” I nodded in agreement. He walked over to the kitchen table, and grabbed the keys tossing them too me. He set Nova down. “You stick close to your Aunt, young lady.” he poked her nose, and she grinned. “Yes, grampy.” He smiled, satisfied. “I don’t care what happens to the truck, if anything happens to you two, I don’t think there's a place on this earth that Dylan could hide, where I wouldn't find him.” I gulped at his words. I knew he wasn't lying, he was the type of person who would do something dramatic if anything happened to his family. He was quite the opposite of my late grandpa Jerry.

“Thanks.” I smiled and headed out the door with Vee.

We pulled up too the parking lot in my grandfathers beast of a truck. A Dodge 4x4, and it was a beaut. It was raised up high off the ground to make room for the meanest looking wheels I ever seen. My niece and I jumped out, and headed towards the mall. We were choosing something for her mom, which was harder than it looked. Speaking of gifts. “Cripes.” I muttered. Nova looked at me with curious blue eyes. “I forgot to give Chris his second birthday gift.” I explained. “What was it?” She asked. “I ordered him a special necklace. It still hasn't come in yet, and I’m not there to see if its in yet.”

At this point I was glad I still had a place to stay in Scranton. I had too at least stay awhile yet before I made any decisions. Suddenly cautious, I wondered if he would like it. I hoped so.

“Hey Jen?” Nova had stopped looking through some random nic nacs in the bin in front of her from Ardenes. “Yes, sweety.”

“Are you leaving again?” She practically disarmed me with the serious look on her face. “I might be. Why?” She bit her lip as she thought of it. “I heard you talking with Chris, and I think you should go back to that place, where hes at.” I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

“But, you have too come see me and mommy as much as you possibly can. Okay?” I kneeled down to her, and held out my pinky. “I pinky promise. Its a rule that you can’t break a pinky promise; unless under very extreme circumstances.” I added. She hooked her pinky in mine and we shook on it. She hugged me out the blue, squeezing me as hard as her little arms could. This girl.. I thought to myself, smiling.

I pulled her off me, holding her in front of me. “What do you say we try for some games? I know your mommy and step daddy love those.” She beamed. “Thats a great idea.” She ran off towards GameStop. I ran after her, watching as she looked through the games. I heard a laugh, that I really didn't want to hear. I turned around and saw Dylan and his buddies walking by the store. For fuck sakes.

I turned back towards Nova, who had picked out three different games. I looked at them, two of them seemed to suit my brother-in-law and sister, but the third. I held up the old Neopets game. “Is this some kind of hint.” I grinned at her. She looked around the store, trying to avoid my gaze. I knew she wasn’t spoiled, and she knew not too push, she was a good kid that way. But I felt generous so I bought all three.

“Now, when you get too play is between you and mom.” She grabbed my vacant hand. “Kay.” she laughed. We decided to call it a day, and headed back out too the truck. I put her in her seat, and told her to hang on too the games. I came around too my side, about to get in when I heard a voice. “There you are.” Dylan. I quickly locked the truck doors, and handed Nova the keys. “Nova, I want you too hang on too these until I get back in the truck.” I instructed. “And do not open it until I say so. Got it.” She looked at me, scared. “I’ll be fine. Just keep it locked alright.” She nodded. As I closed the door, I turned around to see Dylan, Corina and Peter again. The rest presumably were gone too fuck around somewhere else. “Can I fucking help you?” I walked two steps towards them.

“Why yes, you fucking can, bitch.” Corina, Dylans new fuck buddy. I clicked my tongue. “Please don’t speak Corina, you lower the IQ of everyone on the block just by thinking, I’d hate to see what happens when you talk.” She glared at me, and I put on a fake smile. “We wanted to pay you back, for the last time you punched me in the face.” Dylan stepped forward. “And once we heard you were back, we took a trip up here too see if we can find you.”

“How fucking sweet, you fuck.” I droned at him. “I’m here, but if I remember right, that punch was well deserved.” I put my hands up in the air, shrugging.

“You bitch!” Corina screeched, and rushed at me. I thought I could block her, but she full on body slammed me into the truck. She was slightly heavier than I originally thought. I felt my head collided with solid steel. I was momentarily stunned, my eyes blurred slightly. I felt someone grab my sweater and pull me upwards against the truck. It had to be Dylan, he was the only one strong enough to lift me.

“God, you were always so cocky.” I heard Dylan whisper. “Like you?” I asked angrily. “Pushing me around when it was necessary.” I lashed out. He growled and punched me hard in my gut. I felt the wind being sucked out of me, as he let me fall too the ground. I gasped for air, the pain was intense. Before I could blink someones fist came flying at the right side of my face. My jaw reacted and clenched, making it worse. I felt the my face go heavy with pain. It was already starting to swell. Goddamn it Jenny, defend yourself. The next thing too come flying at me was someones foot, and too my intense discomfort, my hand flew up too stop it. My abdomen and face ached, yet I was angry which seemed too give me a little bit of an advantage in this unfair fight. I pulled the foot towards me, making the person shout as I caught them of balance. My ears where ringing. I kept a hold of the foot, jumping up and pushed it with all my might backwards. It was Dylan whom I had thrown backwards. Corina tried jumping for me again, I lifted my leg, and simultaneously spun, doing a perfect roundhouse kick right on her face, sending her flying too the left.

I grabbed my stomach as it gave a sharp agonizing pain through me. I closed one eye, watching Peter. He ran and jumped at me, and I just barely got out of the way. But I didn't get away from the punch that landed hard on the side of my eye. I heard faintly Nova screaming my name. “Nova, stay put.” I managed out. Peter punched me in the mouth, and then kicked my stomach with what felt like all his strength. I fell too the ground, I felt the metallic taste of blood on my tongue. I spat out the vile stuff, seeing the red stain the asphalt below me. My body couldn't take much more.

It was then they started kicking at me mercilessly, the three of them. My arms where in front of my face, but it didn't slow the blows down.

Chris. I saw a flash of his face come too my minds eye. Some how seeing him gave me a new burst of energy. I gritted my teeth and kicked out my leg, feeling it connect with someones leg, sending them crashing down with me on the asphalt. The kicking stopped for a second, and I was up on my feet in two seconds. I pushed past the pain. I elbowed Dylan in the face, sending him staggering backwards, whirling on Peter, giving him a right hook to the face.

“Hey, you three, stop right there.” I whirled around. Two officers where headed towards me and these three. I didn't know if I should be relieved or worried. They grabbed Corina and Dylan off the ground, and then they went for Peter, who was still dazed from me punching him. I saw flashing red and blue lights. And I felt some kind of relief. “Nova.” I whispered out. Walking towards the truck, I saw the little girl stare at me, tears running down her face. She unlocked the truck, and jumped into my arms. I squeezed her so tightly, afraid she wasn't real for a moment.

“It’s okay now, sweetheart. Its okay.” I hushed.

~

“You’re lucky.” The paramedic said after he examined my stomach. “You have no internal bleeding after they kicked you. But you will have a very sore stomach for a few days, as well as your eye and lip.” I looked over at Nova, reassuringly. “See, Auntie is fine.” She gave a timid smile. The paramedic wrote up a prescription for the pain. “You sure you don’t want to go to the hospital?” He asked. “Do I absolutely need to?” I asked. He shook his head. “It would be more for your benefit to rest, but you can do that at home. If it were more serious, I wouldn't let you leave.” I nodded, slowly getting up, wincing when the pain in my stomach ripped through me. “Careful.”

“Thank you.” I said. “Lets get home, Vee.” I held out my hand, and she took it, I led her out of the ambulance, and walked over to the big ass black truck. We got in quickly, and drove home.

~

“Oh my god, Jen are you alright?!” The damn cops must have called a head. “I’m fine.” Anna looked at Nova, checking her over. “She’s alright, I promise. I made sure they couldn't get too her even if they tried.” Anna looked up at me, tears in her eyes. She glomped me and I winced. “I’m alright sis, I’m fine.” I could still taste the iron of my own blood in my mouth. My mother was there, because life just fucking loved me today.

And she was in a mood. Perfect. “You could have got Nova killed today! What the hell is wrong with you.” Anna whirled on her. “Don’t you dare say anything like that again!” She yelled. I was dizzy as anything. “Anna, its okay. Can you take Nova up to her room, she has something for you too see.” I looked over at the little girl. “Right, Vee?” She nodded. “Lets go mommy.” She grabbed her mothers hand and led her upstairs. I turned too my mother, waiting to hear the next line of bullshit come out of her mouth.

“I don’t care what you say, you shouldn't have put her in danger like that.” I sighed exasperated. “Will you shut your goddamn mouth, you giant motherfucking hypocrite.” I yelled. “Just the other day, you wanted me back with Dylan, but look at what happened when I went near him. Him and his friends beat me, with not a care in the damn world.”

“And don’t you dare talk to me about putting my niece in danger, because unlike you, I actually give a shit about my family. You’re too busy fucking around, acting like a child too even notice anything that goes on!”

“At least I have one daughter here that has sense, she has a job, and a family. What have you have?” She screamed back. That hurt, more than I thought it was going too. But I wasn't done, I've had it.

“Don’t fucking act like you've been there my whole life, where where you when Anna and I needed you the most? Where where you when we were bullied in school? Where where you for all those holidays, that you said you would come visit us? How many times have I had to hold my crying sister, telling her that you’ll come next time, because you were too busy running as far away from your ‘family’ too even notice the pain you were causing!” She flinched. I continued my onslaught. “Our father, and our fathers parents were the ones raising us to be who we are, not you! You act as you can relate to us, fuck what you can relate too. Its fucking bullshit.” Tears were in my eyes, I stormed up the stairs, leaving my mother speechless. I went to my room, and packed up all my belongings. I needed to get away from here. I ran down the stairs, grabbing my helmet on the way out.

I threw my duffel bag over my sore shoulder and got on my bike. Quickly getting out of there. I blew out a shaky breath as I got further away from the house. I flipped my helmet visor up, since the sun was setting and it was getting dark. I felt myself calm down, just by driving. The way into town was a blur, and as I pulled up to a huge hotel I shuddered. I was coming down from the painful adrenaline that todays events had caused. I put my kickstand down, and walked into the main foyer of the hotel with my helmet and duffel in tow. I must have been quite the sight, because the front lady at the reception gave me a horrified look. “One room, please.” I murmured. She quickly got the keycard, and wrote up a receipt on the computer. “Sign here please.” She said quickly. I scribbled my name down, and she handed me the key card. I made my way down the hall where my room was. I was about to put it in the card slot, when I heard my name being called beside me. I looked over at the one person, whom I was both terrified and relieved to see.

Chris.
