Mike's POV:

My body involuntarily swayed from side to side in the passenger seat as Leilani recklessly screeched around each bend in the road all the way up the winding road to the lookout but I didn't say a word, I knew if I insulted her now I'd probably end up in a ditch on the side of the road.

"I'm so mad I don't even know what I want to say to her," her words caught me off guard for two reasons. One, she hadn't said anything the entire drive her ears just silently fumed and two, she always knew what to say, always, she was a journalist after all.

"Just say whatever comes to mind, whatever feels right. Be the hard ass that I know you are because there's no way in hell she's getting away with giving us the heart attack she's given us tonight," I tried to encourage her. I knew, with everything that happened this afternoon, Rory wasn't going to listen to me but if Leilani laid down the law she'd feel bad for what she had done.

"But you're so good at being the mean parent," for the second time tonight I was taken back by her remark but it struck me that she was right, I was the ass hole Dad that was never around and when I was all I did was bark orders and yell at her. My lack of response registered something in Leilani, "I didn't mean it like that Mike, I just meant that-" I cut her off.

"No, you meant it.." I trailed off leaving us in a stale silence as we ventured further up the hill.

It wasn't long, maybe a minute max with Leilani's driving, until we pulled around another curve in the road when we saw Trent's car parked along the side of the dirt road looking out towards the view of the city. The cars breaks were suddenly pushed to a halting stop as Lani crept closer to the side of his car, high beams on to warn the teens.

"Oh my god Mike do you see that, they're having sex!" Leilani's voice cracked at the sight of her daughter forcing me to squint my eyes until I peered hard enough into the blackened window. I could have sworn my eyes popped out of my head when I saw Rory sat on top of that knuckle headed fuck in the front seat.

I didn't say a word before jumping out of the still idling car, as I neared closer Aurora became aware of our presence and jumped over to the other side of the car faster than a cheater stalks his pray. I closed the short distance between myself and the glistening black car with only a few long strides then reached out for the handle of the drivers side so I could rip the kid out of his seat but I found Aurora placed firmly in front of his door and she wasn't budging.

"Move," I growled lowly but she didn't even flinch. Her miniature arms were spread across the door stopping me from getting past but I still tried. I tried nudging her arms away and reaching around her, I even tried to step around the other side of the car but she followed me with the utmost intention to stop me.

"Dad stop!" she pleaded. She called me 'Dad', she has never called me that without being told to do so. Behind us I heard Leilani gasp as she was just as shocked as I was.

"Dad?" I questioned almost forgetting about that half brain Trent.

"You win okay! You win! I'll call you Dad, I'll suck up yours and Mum's ass, I'll do whatever but please leave him alone, this isn't his fault it was my idea," my heart broken as I realised how much I was hurting my baby girl by trying to stop her happiness. I hadn't noticed the gleam in her eyes when she talked about him before but I certainly did right now. The way she put herself in front of him, he even tried to get out of the car and she wouldn't let him, she really liked him. The girl had a heart of gold and would do anything for that boy, it was scary but beautiful in a sense that my daughter could have a love so strong.

"I'm sorry bub," I walked closer towards her engulfing her in a hug that she fell into gracefully sobbing against my chest as I stroked the back her hair calmingly. No sooner did Leilani join the group hug, also sobbing.

"We just kissed," Rory sobbed even harder trying to defend herself but we weren't even angry any more, we were disappointed in ourselves as parents.

"Shh, it's okay baby," Leilani lulled placing a kiss on the back of Rory's head. Behind us I heard the click of Trent's car door as he stepped out and shut it behind him. He cleared his voice when none of us turned making us face him.

"I just wanted to say Sir that your daughter, Aurora," he glanced over at her shooting her a nervous smile that she returned behind chewing her nails, "she's the best person I know. She came into my life and she made me see the sun where I only ever used to see clouds, she believes in my music and art so much that I actually start to believe it myself, she likes me simply for being me and that's the best kind of person you can know. She's the once in a lifetime girl and I really, genuinely like her, I always have. I don't want to hurt her but nor do I want to sneak around not only yours but Miss Bennett's back because you'll forbid our.." he scrambled for a fitting word, "love, but I'll do it if I have to. I want to be with her and she wants to be with me, at least that's what I hope, and I will be with her or so help me god," the entire time his eyes were glued on mine as he stood proudly defending his honour.

"Trent.." Aurora breathed through panted hot air masked behind brewing tears still gripping firmly onto her mothers side.

"You know kid, you're not half as bad as I thought you were Trent," he exhaled a heavy breath of relief and held his hand out towards me gripping mine in a firm handshake. Random but I can respect that.

"I'll take care of her," he let go and instead wrapped his heavily tattooed arms around Aurora's seemingly tiny frame.

"I can tell," I smiled.

"You wanna hope so Trent, I've been to jail before I'll do it again," the expression on his face literally dropped at Leilani's words but relaxed when she started laughing and admitted to kidding with him.

"Now lets go home and discuss your punishment young lady," I seriously scolded. I had to hold back a smirk when Aurora's head snapped back to look at me in surprise. She actually thought she'd gotten away with it.

"Punishment?" she begged.

"Oh yeah, you're not getting away with it with a few crocodile tears now get in our car and lets go," I was trying so hard to stay stern and even Leilani could tell I was about to crack.

"Fine," she whined finally, reluctantly may I add, agreeing to go home and dragging the 'e'. She pushed up on her tippy toes to lean into a kiss good bye with Trent but was quickly interrupted by the awkward coughs of Leilani's and myself making her huff and trudge towards the car without her precious kiss.

Leilani followed jumping in the passenger seat, leaving me to drive which meant we might actually get home in one piece. They both closed their doors leaving me and Trent alone.

"She'll talk to you tomorrow after we've had a serious talk to her," he simply nodded before turning away and jumping into his car. I turned my back as well when I heard I whisper from Trent as he rolled down his window.

"I love her Mike," he told me in confidence and I knew in the way he said it that he was wishing she felt the same way back.

"She knows," I confirmed not feeding him too much information.

Even if she hadn't said it to him, I knew she loved him back. I saw it in her eyes, It was the look Leilani used to give Austin...
