If I Could Turn Back Time

Goosebumps

Aurora's POV:

What felt like days, but was only two hours, had passed absently as I waited for Trent's arrival. A million times throughout the night I could have sworn I could hear the muffled noises of his roaring engine outside but every time I was just imagining things, I am way too eager for tonight. Just as quick as I had told myself I was being lame about the situation my mind scurried back to the hopeful thoughts of tonight's encounter. Would we kiss? What if he's just using me? Does he even like me? But before I could even answer my own stupid questions I was interrupted and bought back into reality by my Mum's intrusive bangs at the door, which by the way she still couldn't open.

"Aurora will you please stop acting like a child and come and talk to us please? I've cooked your favourite for dinner," she tried to lure me out of my 'dungeon', as Mum calls it, with my love for her divine lasagne. It was tempting but not as tempting as rebelling and spending the night with the one, the only, Trent. His name was music to my ears.

"You think you can win me over with your cooking? It's like you don't even know me at all," I pretended to act hurt but hissed it coldly so that she would proceed to leave me alone. I heard her sigh through the cracks of the door, she knew if I rejected lasagne that there was no winning me over. I watched the shadow of her feet walk away back down the hallway and smirked evilly knowing she wouldn't bother checking on me again tonight, this was too easy.

I was about to push the earphones of my iPod back into my ears when I realised I still had about half an hour until Trent got here when my phone buzzed next to me showing Trent's name which, to be honest, made me flip shit and throw my iPod on the floor in a flutter of excitement

Trent: I'm coming early I couldn't wait.

Me: Wait for what?

Trent: You x

I hardly had time to blush at his reply when I was startled by a faint knock at my bedroom window only loud enough for me to hear. I gathered myself and heaved my petite frame from the bed and pondered over to the window, peeling back the curtain to reveal Trent hiding in the garden outside of my room. I couldn't hold back my giggle and he shot me a glare that read 'shut up' but he laughed himself making me laugh a little harder. I pulled back the lever unlocking the window and slid it open letting the cold air flow into my room surrounding my being.

"You know you said you were coming early not that you were already here," not that I was complaining.

"As if you're complaining," he smirked shooting me a wink as he said it. Can he read my mind?!

"I, uh- well.." he got me, I had literally no comeback and have just managed to look like a total tool in front of the hottest guy in the entire universe, good one Rory.

"As I thought," he winked again, he was so cocky but his confidence was something I always admired in him. Suddenly it clicked, the little fuck knew that I had this 'school girl crush' on him and he was deliberately flirting with me to mess with my head. I think I've ultimately made a fool of myself now. "Well," his raspy voice knocked me out of my thoughts, "are you gunna climb out of this window or not?" he waited on me.

"Well are you going to help me, it's a bit of a drop?" I looked down to where he was, it wasn't like it was a whole story high but it was still high enough to sprain an ankle if I landed badly but it was an excuse to flirt back. He didn't reply just simply nodded and held up his hand waiting for me to take a hold, which I didn't even hesitate to do.

I used his hand to help climb up out of the window sill and let go as I swung my legs down letting them dangle. I turned holding onto the ledge ready to drop to the garden below me but just as I was about to let go of the ledge the odd sensation of Trent's warm hands took a hold of my will as they caressed my waist, gently guiding me to the ground.

He spun me around almost immediately hands still on my hips pulling me closer so that our noses were almost touching. His hot breath lingered on my sing giving me goosebumps despite being so flustered in his toned arms. I was in total awe as my body relaxed at his touch, my arms flung around his neck almost automatically as if I had no control over the action but he didn't seem to mind. He closed his eyes and moved in closer his breath becoming heavier, his hands tightened around my waist and I could feel them shaking as if he was just as nervous as I was. Before long my eyes were closed too and I hadn't even noticed I did so but I didn't oblige or incline to open them I just leaned closer into his already tight embrace. His lips were so close to grazing mine before I completely lost his touch.

My eyes shot open to reveal me left standing in the garden below my window all alone and Trent running down my long driveway and signalling me to follow him before pointing to the front porch where the light was now on. I sighed in relief knowing he was just standing me up but then panicked when I realised Mike or Mum must have heard some noise. I edged out of the garden careful not to stand in the light and sprinted for dear life down the driveway and followed Trent to where he had stopped running up the street.

After catching our breaths we just looked at each other falling into a fit of laughter knowing we'd been triumphant at our escape. We high-fived as if we'd just won a championship game before he pulled me into a friendly hug and continued to chuckle. I couldn't help but take in his delicious scent giving me goosebumps once more. Thankfully he didn't notice and pulled lightly away from the hug only to catch my hand and lead me somewhere else on foot making me look around to see his car was nowhere in sight.

"Where's your car?" I asked whilst being trudged along the pavement, our fingers still entwined.

"I parked it in the next street over so your parents wouldn't hear it, you're sneaking out after all," he looked back with a smirk on his face before slowing his speed so we walked next to each other, close enough for his to nudge me playfully with his elbow.

"Oh," it wasn't like I was surprised I just had nothing else to say.

"So.." I began to mimic him but he cut me off when he continued with what he wanted to say, "What makes you want to hang out with a guy like me?" he hissed the last three words as he mocked Mike's words. I rolled my eyes at the comment, I really hoped he didn't let Mike's nonsense talk get to him.

"Because," I dragged out the 'e', "A 'guy like you' wouldn't care about what Mike had to say because you know you're not the junkie he makes you out to be. I think you're amazing and I don't care what Mike or anyone else has to say.." I trailed off realising he must think I sound so predictable and lame.

"You're the coolest chick I know Rory, thanks," I glimpsed at me quickly and shot me a genuine smile which I returned before he trailed off before me to his car we had now reached.

Mike's POV:

"I guess she's not coming out tonight, she even said no to lasagne," Leilani mumbled as she shuffled back into her seat in the lounge room. I knew that was bad, Rory never said no to Leilani's home made lasagne, it's her favourite.

It wasn't hard to notice that she felt disappointed in herself, like she was a bad mother for not being able to comfort her daughter but it was far from that, she was the best mother I knew. It was my fault, I accepted that. I probably overreacted a little but I can't see my baby girl with a boy who dropped out of high school and doesn't have a proper job. He was too much like me and I didn't like it, if he was anything like me he'd only end up hurting Rory like I did to her mother on the first tour so many years ago. I just wouldn't have that. I only want to keep her pure, unbroken heart safe.

"Don't beat yourself up about it, it was my fault, she'll come around when we tell her the news tomorrow," I tried to reassure her from across the room.

"I suppose you're right, she'll be stoked to see Oliver and the rest of the guys," that was a fact. Aurora loved when her 'uncles' visited. She always had a blast and they treated her like the princess she is. The thought alone made Leilani's smile brim brightly across her face and it was enough to calm the tension in the room.

"Hows Alysha anyway?" her question caught me off guard, she never really mentioned my girlfriend. It wasn't that they didn't get along, they did just fine. It was just that when Leilani and I split I don't think she did it wholeheartedly so when Alysha and I got together it hurt her and I still think it stings her now but I never pushed to ask her about it.

"Great actually she's coming out in a couple of weeks to visit on the tour," I tried not to brag careful not to hurt her feelings.

"Oh that's nice.." she trailed off looking back to the television watching reruns of True Blood. I mentally kicked myself knowing I'd said too much but then again, why did it matter? I loved Leilani yes but only as a friend and as the father to her child. I loved Alysha now but I still couldn't bare to watch her hurt. However I knew the pain she carried wasn't all me, it was Austin too, after all these years.

"Mike?" Leilani was waving her tiny, paper cut hands in front of my face from the window sill across the room. I hadn't even noticed her get out of her chair but the wave was frantic and the look on her face was scary alone, she was freaked out.

"What? What's wrong?" I jumped out of my seat peering through the curtains outside like she was doing just moments before.

"Did you hear that noise from the garden?" if I didn't hear you, I didn't hear the noises I laughed to myself.

"No.." I peered even harder into the darkness, "it was probably just a bird," I explained but the look on her face told me she didn't believe me.

"No Mike I heard people, like footsteps and talking," she was chewing at her already short nails as she mumbled out the words.

"I'll turn the light on," I walked to the foyer and flipped the switch for the outdoor light and opened the front door to the house trying to catch a glimpse of whatever or whoever may be outside. Nothing, I saw nothing.

"Look!" Leilani piped up pointing out the window in the direction of the driveway. Now I saw it, two figures running away from the house. Leilani ran to Aurora's bedroom, me following her footsteps, and pounded her fists violently on the door begging for entrance.

"Aurora open this god forsaken door right now young lady!" no response. I lightly pushed the petite blonde away from the door and tried to force my way in. Slowly but surely the door creaked open a fraction allowing me to peer through and see her bed barricaded against the door. I reached my arm through the crack and pushed the bed away enough to open the door and slide through into her dark bedroom.

I didn't have to stare at the room for as long as I did to notice the window was wide open and that Aurora was gone but I was in a trance of shock, she'd run away, she was gone and it was me who pushed her to this. As I stared at the fairy lights that wrapped around her bed head I looked at everything they illuminated including the packet of half empty cigarettes that laid open on her bedside table. I stormed across the room and held them up for Leilani to see. She was just as shocked as I was.

"She's probably with him right now and he probably gave her these," I spat throwing them across the room into her bin. I watched the blood physically boil in her skin as she stomped out of the bedroom and through the hallway to the garage, car keys in hand.

"How do you know where she is?" I stopped her before she could start the ignition.

"She's gone to Sabrina's house!" she wailed eager to go and get Rory.

"That's too obvious, the kids dumb but he's not that dumb," I had to give him some credit he just snuck her out and they were probably long gone by now with the time we gave them to get away.

"You're right," she sighed and pulled out her phone dialling a number and pulled it up to her ear. I could hear the rings through the speaker and waited impatiently as she did for an answer. Finally someone answered but I couldn't make out the muffled response.

"Hello Mrs Patton, is Sabrina there? Aurora has run away and I was wondering if she might know where she is," smart thinking I thought to myself. I heard some shuffling which meant Sab's Mum must have been passing her the phone. After a couple of minutes Leilani had coaxed Sabrina into telling her where Trent was taking her. When Leilani hung up she looked at me, panic spread across her face.

"What is it?" I wasn't sure I wanted the answer.

"He took her to the lookout. Do you know what kids do at the lookout Mike, do you fucking know?" she was screaming now and didn't hesitate to turn the ignition of the car on this time. I climbed around to the passenger side.

I didn't need to ask what they did at the lookout, I already knew.

Notes

What do they do at the lookout?!

Not sure if I should continue this story, I'm not getting a lot of feedback so I'm not sure how you guys are liking it which means my motivation levels are pretty slack. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the comments I am getting and I'm very thankful but I just don't feel like this story is getting the best reaction. Let me know what you guys think, if I should continue or not, a lack of response will probably cause me to stop updating this story and that makes me really sad because I practically have this whole sequel planned out.
