Two Wrongs Don't Make It Right

The awkwardness in the air after Chloe left could be cut with a knife. Neither of us knew what to say. We had drunkenly slept together. I needed to say something to diffuse the tension. I didn't want it to be weird between us. This summer was about work but that didn't mean I couldn't make friends and be social.

"Listen Austin about last night..." I started to say.

"Drunken night hookup. I don't regret it so don't it so don't think that, but there is no reason for it to be awkward between us. We are both adults." He said. It was like he knew exactly what I was thinking.

"You took the words right out of my mouth." I say smiling. "Friends?" I offer my hand.

"Friends." He agrees kissing the back of my hand. I feel my cheeks heat up. I look down hiding my face and take a bite of my hamburger. I look back up at Austin and he begins to laugh at me.

I swallow and give him a questioning look. "What is so funny?" I ask.

"You have got something on your face. Here let me get it." He says leaning forward. His hand hovered in front of my face before he ran his thumb over my lips wiping the ketchup off. My skin heated up and goosebumps popped up all over my body.

As his thumb reached the corner of my mouth a shiver went down my spine. Why did he have this effect on me? It was just a drunken hookup right?

He quickly removes his thumb from my face and he looks away. It looked like his cheeks had turned red before he bowed his head but I couldn't be sure.

"So tell me about you. When did you and Chloe start Wilted Lily?" He asks clearing his throat.

"We started it almost four years ago. We have always been into rock music and as we got older we could never find stuff that suited our styles. We wanted it to be stuff we wanted to wear. So we decided to start making clothes, when we would go out people would always compliment us. As shows we would get asked where we got them. Eventually we got the chance to open an actual store in San Francisco after just selling online. We actually just opened a new store in Huntington Beach about two weeks ago." I tell him.

He looked impressed. "How old are you guys?"

"Chloe is 20 and I am 23." I state.

"That's crazy. You guys have so much accomplished for being so young. It's kind of intimidating." He says.

"Why? You aren't much older than me and you are in a highly successful band. You guys have helped so many people, me included. There are so many people that look up to you." I reply.

He thinks about it for a minute nodding.

"You're right it's just refreshing to hear someone that is so determined and passionate about their career as I am. Most people get a job and never pursue their dreams. That's why I started playing music. It was the only thing that I was extremely passionate about. My mom loved that I was a musician. I would always play for her. When she died it motivated me even more to make something of myself with my music." He told me.

You could tell he was really close to his mom. It was touching to see firsthand instead of in an interview. I reached out and rubbed his hand he looks up at me and smiles.

"Excuse me." A voice interrupts.

I look up and see a girl standing in front of the booth. I stand up.

"How can I help you?" I ask her.

"Can I get the grey dress. And I was wondering if I could get a picture with Austin." She says timidly.

He hops up and begins talking to her. I walk toward one of the tubs and began digging in it to find what the girl had asked for. I looked up at them. He had the biggest smile on his face ad he was talking animatedly about something. Seeing him interact with one of his fans was really awesome. You can tell that he loves them even if he doesn't know them.

He was definitely something special.
