Two Wrongs Don't Make It Right

We ran through our songs and worked out a few of the kinks. The guys gave the band a few pointers and Vic even gave me some helpful tips on how not to lose my voice after singing a full set list. We were all really thankful.

“I don’t know how to thank you guys!” I squeal hugging them all.

“Yeah the tips were really helpful and very much appreciated.” Levi says as he starts putting his guitar away.

“No problem. We know how it is to just be starting out. We learned these tips the hard way. So we are glad to pass them on.” Vic states.

“Now to the all-important question, how terrible are we?” I ask only half kidding.

“I think my ears are bleeding.” Mike jokes and we all laugh.

“You guys have a little practice room, but that’s understandable since you haven’t been together very long. You guys have a lot of potential though. You have your own sound and have really good lyrics an presence.” Jaime tells us.

We all smile widely. We were still figuring out each other, so we had some work to do. Hearing really positive feedback really boosted our confidence. Once we packed everything up we decided to go get food.

The restaurant that we went to wasn’t far from the shop. It was fairly crowded but we didn’t have to wait too long to get seating at a large table. Tony sat on my left and Cory was on my right.

“So where did you guys meet?” Chloe asks.

“I brought my girlfriend into your store actually. She had seen the shop but never had the chance to go in. One night we went to dinner and we came in after. Autumn was at the counter doing paperwork and she was singing. I asked if she would be interested in auditioning.” Cory tells her.

“We had a male singer before and we split ways. We wanted to go in a different direction and thought a female singer would suit our style better. We had a few hopefuls but as soon as we hear Autumn open her mouth she blew them out of the water. Great voice and she had the look we wanted.” Jeremy continues.

“We were pleasantly surprised however that she could actually read music, play guitar and piano, and write lyrics.it was like she was a born vocalist.” Levi finished. I blushed.

“Wow you guys even have your ‘how did you start’ story down.” Mike chuckled. “You always get asked that in interviews when you first start out.”

“We have a long way to go before we need to start thinking about giving interviews.” I say. “We need to focus on the music for now. Then we need to start getting out name out there.”

“I have a great way to do that.” Tony speaks up. “Why don’t we do a pop up show in San Diego? Very last minute and you guys will open.”

I look up at him with my mouth open and Vic looks impressed. “Tone that’s a great idea.”

“No. You guys don’t have to do that.” I protest.

“Too bad we are going to. Even if our manager set this up by himself a smaller band would get the slot. So why not set it up ourselves and get one of our best friend’s bands some great exposure.” He replies I stand up and hug him.

“Thank you.” I say. The band chorus thank you’s as well.

We settle back down and finish our meal. We parted ways with my band and we all squished into Mike’s car. I felt so grateful to have them as friends. They were so willing to help us out and I was so amazed that I had them in my life.

“Hey guys guess what?” Jaime says. We all ask what. “We just brought a whole new meaning to the saying Mexican packing.” We all groaned at his lameness but started laughing regardless.
