Space enough to grow

I woke up in pain I yelped and tears escaped from my eyes, I managed to sit up by myself and took some of my pain killers, I heard some shuffling from the lounge area and foot steps, "knock knock are you okay in there?" I heard Austin's voice, I pulled back the curtain and tried to smile "yeah I'm fine just not use to having cracked ribs yet but I will soon, I'm a fast learner" he just chuckled "that's good but don't be afraid to let me know if you need help okay that's why I'm here" he smiled "are you hungry? I was going to make waffles" "ooooh I've never had waffles before! That sounds great, um but could you help me to the lounge please?" I asked I didn't really want to be stuck in bed all day by myself "really! You've never had waffles? Well I'm going to change that" he said as he leaned down and put his arm around my waist and helped me to my feet, from there he helped me walk to the couch and I sat down, Austin made sure I was comfy then went to the kitchen and started breakfast. I just sat there at watched Austin cook till Tino woke up "hey lil lady! how you feeling?" He asked surprisingly happy for some who just woke up "I'm good, Austin's making waffles!" I said giddily "oh waffles my favourite!" He said matching my giddiness, Aaron came out next smelling the coffee "mmm coffee" he mumbled very zombie like, Phil woke up just as Austin was setting all the food out on the table "looks like I'm just in time!" He said hopping in the booth Tino helped me to the booth then we ate.
"OMG I LOVE WAFFLES!!" I screamed mouth full of food "I'm glad I could convert you" Austin chuckled. After we were all done the guys helped Austin clean and I tried but every time I tried to do anything to help one of the guys would stop me and say "hey, you're suppose to be on bed rest so quit helping" and I'd pout and cross my arms and they'd laugh. After the clean Austin jumped in the shower and I hung out with the guys. "So tell me something about you guys?" I asked attempting to get to know them better "well I'm Tino and I love waffles!" "I'm Phil and I love all food I don't discriminate like Tino here" "hey!" Tino yelled and Phil just stuck his tongue out "I'm Aaron I love coffee and music" Aaron said smiling "what about you honey, tell us about you" Aaron smiled patting my leg "well I'm Ashley Dihm, I'm 19 and I'm from Sydney Australia, I love music, the colour pink, Nutella, snickers, waffles!, Mars bars, cherry ripe hell I love anything chocolate and hugs I really dig those" I told the guys an in turn they laughed well at least I was making them laugh "hey Ash did you want to go pick up you're stuff now so you can have a shower and stuff?" Austin asked from behind me "you know you could just say I smell bad" I said mocking hurt "ha ha very funny" he replied "yeah let's go, can someone give me a lift to the car?" I asked giggling "sure thing chicken wing" Tino said as he picked me up and walked me out to the car "sort for the heavy load, loving chocolate so much has it's disadvantages" I whispered to Tino so Austin wouldn't hear "lil lady you where as light as a block of chocolate, don't worry" he replied winking at me "thanks" I knew he was lying to save my feelings but it was a nice gesture. The drive to the hotel was silent and when we got there we didn't speak till we got to the room, "I'm not sure if Ben's going to be here and hopefully he's not but if he is just be ready to get my stuff and go" I said "okay but if he starts anything I'm punching him" Austin said looking me in the eye, I knew he wasn't lying he would hurt Ben if he did anything and I wasn't sure how I felt about that. I used my room key to get in, we walked into the lounge room and Ben was on the phone crying and he looked up at me and ran to me just before he got to me Austin stepped in front of me stopping him from engulfing me in a hug. "I'm so sorry for leaving you but where were you? I was worried sick! Why is he here? Why do you look like someone beat you up?" Ben rambled "well I slept on the Of Mice bus, he is here to help me, and three guys did beat me up in the mosh last night cause you left me alone so yeah I think you being sorry is a good start!" I snapped "What! I am so fucking sorry if I had of known if someone was going to hurt you I would of-" "would of what? Stayed with her, looked after her like you were suppose to! Stop playing the victim thanks to you she has three cracked ribs and she can't go home for at least a month!" Austin yelled "what you can't come home? Where are you going to stay?" Ben asked he looked so sad "no the doctor said I need to wait till my ribs heal more until I can go home and Austin has taken me in, I'm just here to grab my stuff" "you weren't going to say goodbye?" "I honestly wasn't sure if you gave a shit so what ever, my rooms this way" I told Austin as he helped me to it, " of course I give a shit I fucking love you!" Ben exclaimed "if you really fucking loved her you wouldn't have left her alone!" Austin growled getting in Ben's face I stepped between them "hey! Like I said we are here to get my stuff then we are gone! Now grab my suitcase over there please" I snapped "and as for you" I said pointing at Ben "you are the reason I'm in pain constantly, the reason I can't even go home to my mum because of your jealously I'm stuck here! Please spare me from your shit cause honestly if you keep going I'll let Austin beat the shit out of you" Austin's eyes lit up. "Okay I'll back off but please don't hate me forever" Ben pleaded "I can't promise anything" he just looked down as he walked away.
After we left in the car I asked Austin "why did you get so mad at Ben?" He just looked at me "he is the reason for your pain and I couldn't handle him standing there trying to defend his actions" he replied "I know but before that you said how you were going to punch him, why?" I asked again "I don't know I just feel protective of you, after last night seeing you so vulnerable I just don't want to see you hurting like that, you're a beautiful person and you don't deserve to feel that pain" he told me "I have no idea how to respond to that" I said blushing "thank you" "no need I'm just telling the truth" he said with a small smile.
When we got back to the bus Alan was laying on the couch looking like death "remind me never to get drunk with him" I whispered to Austin, he chuckled to himself "A present from Jordan, he dropped him off not to log after you left" Aaron informed us "well as lovely as it is to stare at a hungover cat, I need a shower" I said limping to the bathroom " if you need help just call out okay" Austin yelled from the lounge. I started the shower and looked at myself naked in the mirror, I had bruises everywhere and tiny little cuts, my face wasn't too bad I guess, some concealer and an ice pack should help, I stepped into the shower the warm water flowing over my body, I felt the little stings from the water seeping into my cuts but after awhile I felt safe, I felt calm but then I slipped and fell "AAAHHHHH FUCK!" I screamed out in pain my ribs were killing me now, I heard a knock on the door "Ash are you okay" it was Austin "no I fell I need help" he came straight in turned the shower off and grabbed a towel "I'm going to put this around you okay?" I was in so much pain I just nodded, he wrapped me up in the towel and picked me up "can you stand?" He asked as he got me out of the shower "I I think so" I got out through gritted teeth, he gently put me down and steadied me so I could stand on my own and I did it "I'll get you your pain killers alright?" "Yes please" I said, in a flash he was gone and came back with pills in hand, I took them and he helped me get dressed, he helped me too his bunk "no, isn't there a spare bunk? I feel bad for sleeping in yours" I said "it's fine okay I'm swapping with you, the spare bunk is a top one and I'm pretty sure you won't be able to get into it without hurting you're self" he told me "oh okay then I'm good with that" I said I slipped into my bunk "if you need anything-" "call out and we'll help you, I get it!" I said "okay try to rest alright" he said calmly smiling at me "yep that's the plan" I said as he walked away and I shut the curtain, I couldn't believe this is my life for the next four weeks! Hanging out with the two bands who've saved my life and given me hope, I couldn't be happier.
