Glass Hearts

Chapter III

‘Austin! Austin! Where the hell is he? You think he got lost or something?’
They heard Alan and Aaron walking through the hallway. They were obviously looking for him. Thankfully they didn’t open the door though. Their voices faded as they walked further down the hallway.
When they both finished, Austin lent over and kissed her on the forehead before reaching for his towel. Somehow his hair managed to stay perfect she thought as she stood up and watched him wrap the thick white towel around his waist. She got up and got quickly got dressed, scared someone might come in. They could hear Aaron or Alan coming back down the hallway again, still calling his name.
‘Shit. How are we going to get out of here with them wandering around,’ she whispered.
‘Don’t worry,’ he said with a half smile. ‘We wait until they go around the corner and you go one way and I go the other unless you want to come hang out with the band?’
‘Sounds cool but I still have to get these keys to James. I’m going to try and come to your show lat-.’
‘Oh shit! What time is it?’
She pulled out her phone from her pocket. ‘Almost 6.’
‘Damn it! I have to get on stage in 15 minutes!’ He quickly kissed her on the forehead again and ran out of the office.
She stood there for a second in the middle of the office. The place was a mess. The thought of never seeing him again crossed her mind as she started picking up the papers from the floor and putting the chairs and the desk back to where they were before, but she quickly shoved the thought out of her head.
‘Excuse me? Can I help you?’
She turned quickly as a tall bald man with a tattoo sleeve on one arm walked into the room. He was wearing a black t-shirt with the word ‘security’ printed on it in think white letters. Thankfully she had put the office back together before he can in, or at least she hoped she did.
‘Hi. Sorry. Are you James?’ she asked nervously, hoping he hadn’t been standing there since Austin left.
‘Yea,’ he said coldly.
‘Cool. These keys and this folder are for you. They’re from Martin.’
‘Oh, brilliant. Thanks love,’ he said a bit more relaxed.
She handed him the keys and the folder with a smile and made a quick exit before he had time to say anything else, wondering if Austin managed to get dressed and on stage in time. She started walking down the hall back to Mick’s office on the other side of the building, thinking about everything that had just happened. According to the map, the concert hall was basically across the building but the music and the screams were so loud, it was more like it was directly behind a single, thin door.
‘Mick? You here,’ she asked as she knocked on his office door, hoping he wouldn’t make her do anything else today.
‘Yea. Come in. You’re lucky. I was just about to leave. What’s up, Alex?’
‘Nothing, I just wondered if you needed anything else.’ she said as she opened the door and lent on the door frame. She flicked her red hair off her shoulder as she watched Mick sat behind his desk, staring blanking at his computer screen.
He blinked a few times and said sleepily, ‘No, love. Don’t worry. Everything else can wait until tomorrow now. I was going to head over to watch Of Mice and Men if you want to come with me. We might be able to catch the last of their set if were quick.’
She pulled out her phone and checked the time. 6.36. She couldn’t believe how late it was. ‘Yes that sounds great’ she said quickly, still thinking about her afternoon with Austin as she put her phone back in her pocket.
He got up and pulled a set of keys and an ID pass out of his top drawer. She walked into the hallway as he switched off the lights. He locked his office door and they headed back towards the concert hall.

I liked it :) You should make a sequel. Where she goes to the states and runs into him (again).
