A Sight For Sore Eyes
Space Enough To Grow
Natalie:
I really miss him. He was such an inspiration to me, you know? I felt like not only was he my brother but, he had some fatherly advice here and there. I really loved that about him. He lived life to the fullest and made every moment last.
Austin was waiting for me outside of Starbucks. I saw him sitting in one of the patio sets outside looking at his phone. He looked up from his phone and stood up to greet me. He pulled me in for his famous "Austin the big bear" hug. We both laughed.
"Hey, Nat. I really like your outfit. You look very beautiful."
"Thanks Austin." We both sat down.
"So, Nat..How have you been? Everything is alright?"
I sighed and looked around then looked at Austin as he grabbed my lonely hand on the table and rubbed my thumb with his thumb. "I'm fine, Austin. I just think about him and try so hard not to cry, you know?"
It looked like tears were trying to escape his delicate eyes but then, he swiped them away with a crooked smile on is face. I had gotten up, moved my chair next to Austin's, sat down, and put my head on his shoulder.
"Austin, he is happy. Remember that." Then we both started to cry.
I looked up to Austin and he looked at me. Our faces were 2 inches away from each other. Being in this position gave me butterflies. I was just about to kiss him when all of a sudden, I feel my phone vibrated in my jean pockets. I get up and pull out my phone to see it was my mother calling me. I pick up my phone.
"Yes, mother?"
"Are you coming for dinner tonight, Nat? Your father and I would really love to know."
"Yes, mommy. Can I bring Austin?" Just saying his name made me smile.
"Of course. He is part of the family too. I have to go. Love you, sweetie."
"Love you more, mom. Bye."
I hang up the phone and went back to the table. I caught Austin drying his eyes. He looked up and smiled. "Who was that?" "My mom. She wants you to come over for dinner."
"Awesome!"
