Ghost in the Walls

I didn't know what to do so I stood there long after the back lights turned the corner. I finally came too when the sun was in my eyes. I blinked a few times and remembered that I had to talk to Oli.

I ran to the school and I didn't stop until I got there. Kids were in there class rooms so I went to the room where I knew Oli was. I walked in and he imidiatly looked at me.

"Mr.wallabit, may I go to the bathroom... It's an emergency"

"Sure, take the hall pass." He said continuing on with his lesson. He walked out the class room and down a hallway. He opened a door and went down stairs. We came across another door that said boiler room and we entered. He turned around and looked at me.

"I don't know what you want me to do."

"He did it again." I said.

"What?"

"I saw him, after you left. He came around and got a drunk girl. I couldn't do anything."

"I'm sorry." He said looking at his feet.

"She was right there and I couldn't do anything! He can still have her locked up, torturing her and I couldn't help. I just stood there! I'm sick and tired of not being able to help, you can help but you won't help me! Why?" I yelled, suddenly angry. He just looked disappointed.

"You don't think I want to? I do, he killed my mom! I could have saved her! But I was scared. I am scared. I just... I don't know what to do ok?" He looked up to me with tears in his eyes.

"We just gotta work together ok?" I looked at Oli and he nodded his head.

"Yea, ok." Good. I walked back out the door and up the stairs stopping at the last door.

"Hey, can I come over your house tomorrow? We can start looking." He looked hesitant but eventually he agreed. I continued walking the empty halls and he went back to class.

"Oh, before you go in, where do you live?"

" 14 pioneers drive." He said turning and going back inside. He didn't live to far from me, on the opposite side of town tho. I didn't really know what to do so I walked around a little before I passed a class and saw sky sitting in the back completely focused on the lesson. I walked in and looked at the teacher. Mrs.Ramos. Ew, we had her together for global two in this class. I looked at the board and saw AP history. Of course she would be in a honors class. I walked over to her and saw she had a headphone in her right ear facing the wall so the teacher couldn't see. She's got balls.

"Hey sky. I know you can't hear me but I miss you. I miss you so much. You and Steph were the best friends ever and I didn't deserve you guys, but I'm glad you stuck around. I love you guys." I said to her but she was looking forward coping notes. I sighed and walked out the class. I punched the lockers and cursed.

"Why?" I asked to no one and I left. I walked out the school and headed home. I really hate being a fucking ghost. I got home and my parents were on the couch watching a movie. They looked happy. I sat down on the far side and watched them. They were cuddled up together eating popcorn under a blanket. I smiled and looked at the movie. The corpse bride. I watched the rest of it with my parents and it almost felt like everything was fine. Almost.

After a few movies they fell asleep on the couch but I didn't so I just kept watching. Soon it ended so I put another in, it was my favorite star wars. Half way through my mom woke up and looked at the screen and smiled. Just smiled awhile and looked around before saying.

"I love you."

"I love you too mom." I Said back but of course she didn't hear me. She lade back down and went to sleep, the smile never disappearing. I finished the movie and looked at the time. Ten. I figured Oli should be awake so I headed over to his house.

It was a really nice day today. It was spring time finally so I saw kids running around in there yards playing, or at the park. It was really peaceful. I reached his house and went in. I looked through two rooms before I finally found his. He was sleeping in his bed, tangled in his sheets. I looked around and noticed it was pretty clean. Clothes put away, his book bag in the corner, electronics on his desk. It was strange.

"Oli. Wake uuuupppp." I said. He just groaned and turned over.

"Ok, fine. Just remember you asked for it. " I told him before heading to his kitchen. I came back and through a huge bowl of water and ice on him. He jumped out of the bed screaming!

"Why the fuck would you do that! It's fucking cold!" I ignored his question.

"Come on. We gotta get going. Put a shirt on and let's go go go!" He looked at me and shook his head. I left his room so he could change and went into the living room. He walked out the room ten minutes later with clothes on but his hair was still damp. Oops.

"So where are we going?" He asked.

"It's a secret come on." I told him. He rolled his eyes but followed me out. I walked into town and it took a little bit but we finally arrived out side.

"A fortune teller? Really Austin?"

"It's a psychic! And you got a better idea?" He looked at me but didn't say anything. We walked inside and didn't see anyone so we kept walking. We came across a curtain of beads that had an eye on it.

"Really?" He said looking at me.

"Oh shut it sykes." I said pushing past and he followed.

"Welcome boys. I've been expecting you too." A beautiful women said, maybe mid thirtys? Austin looked at me but I shrugged.

"Yes, I can see him. I'm not blind." She said winking.

"Sit sit. I'm sure you have many questions." We walked over to the table and sat down. She didn't say anything and we just kinda sat there in an awkward silence as she looked at us expectingly.

"Money." I told Austin.

"Oh." He said, pulling out his wallet and grabbing a twenty before handing it over to her. She smiled.

"So your probably wondering why you can see him yes?" She asked and we nodded.

"Ok so a little before you first saw Austin you died and came back no? So since you've been on the other side, you can see it." She explained.

"Wait, you died?" I asked.

"Yea, got into a car crash." He said.

"And now you and your friend wonder who the murderer is no?" She asked and we nodded.

"Well I can not answer that but I can say that it would be wise to retrace steps. I find it very useful when looking for things that are lost." She said.

"What does that mean?" I asked.

"That's all I have for you. Times up, I have other customers." She said.

"Ok, thanks." I said. We got up and walked back out to the front but there were no customers. We walked out the place.

"That lady is crazy." Oli said.

"Yea, but maybe she has a point. Come on!" I said running down the street.

"Where are we going?" He asked, following me.
