Victoria’s point of view

Jared was on top of me, trying to pull my underpants off. I tried kicking him off me but I failed multiple times. Suddenly Jared was thrown off of me, by Alan.
“Get him off of the bus before I break his neck.” Alan said angrily through gritted teeth as Austin, Phil, Tino and Aaron were dragging him off of the bus.
Alan ran over to me, picked up the scissors that had been left on the bedside table and cut me free. My arms instantly covered my body, Alan noticed this and took off his shirt and handed it to me. I gratefully accepted it, the shirt went down to my thighs, covering my underwear. I took off my ripped singlet dress once I was in the shirt and threw it to the floor. I sat on the bed, while Alan fetched a wet cloth and started wiping the dried blood off of my neck. When he had finished, he sat next to me, holding me.
I began to shake uncontrollably, the tears spilling down my face. Alan held me tighter and stroked my hair while he tried consoling me.
I couldn’t believe that this had just happened. Jared had…tried….to…
I couldn’t even think the words of what was just about to happen to me.
After about twenty minutes, I had stopped crying. I was just leaning on Alan, wide eyed and staring at nothing. I only broke my eye contact when I heard a knock at the door, I stared at the door until I heard Austin speak from behind the door. My entire body relaxed with relief.
“Victoria, the police are here and want to speak to you, to hear what happened.” Austin called.
Alan looked at me and asked if it was okay. I nodded my head and Alan told them to come in. Two police officers, one male one female, walked in.
“We’ll be outside.” Austin said to me.
“No, i-it’s ok. You guys can come in as well.” I said quietly. Austin, Phil, Tino and Aaron walked in and sat on Phil’s bed, opposite from me. Alan left my side to go get two chairs for the police officers, so they could sit down as well.
Once they were seated they started asking questions;
“Victoria, my name is Officer Bentley and this is my partner; Officer Manilow,” The female officer, Officer Bentley, stated. “We just need to hear from your point of view what happened here tonight.”
I nodded my head slowly, cleared my throat and began my story;
“I was out drinking with some good friends of mine and we came back to the tour bus area at around midnight but we were in the Black Veil Brides tour bus and I left at around 4am to come back here. I called Phil,” I gestured to Phil so the officer knew who I was talking about, “And asked if they were home, he said that they weren’t here. That no one was; that Jared had gone to Chicago to meet up with some family or whatever and he would meet up with us there. So I went into my room and shut the door and when I turned on the light I saw Jared sitting on my bed. He was shouting at me, asking if I thought he was stupid and if I thought that he wouldn’t find out.”
“He wouldn’t find out what?” Officer Manilow asked me.
“That Phil had found out about what happened two months ago; Jared broke a few of my ribs and told me that if I told anyone, he would ‘finish the job’.”
Austin, Alan, Aaron and Tino’s face were the same expression; shock, sadness and hatred for Jared. Officer Manilow wrote something down in his notebook and then asked me to continue on with what had happened tonight.
“When Jared looked distracted, I ran out the door. But he caught up with me and pulled me back by my hair and he held a knife to my throat. Then he made me write a suicide note because he was going to make me swallow paracetamol tablets, he made me write that it was the boys fault,” I gestured to Alan, Aaron, Tino, Phil and Austin, “Because when Jared randomly turned up half way through the tour, he spread rumours about me to the guys, making us grow distant. When I finished the note, Jared knocked me out and I woke up tied up to this bed.” I sighed, my voice becoming shaky.
“He, he uh, touched my body and he kept on going on about the time, about how much time he had with me. But I realized he was going by the alarm clock right there,” I pointed to the alarm clock, “Which is an hour slow. So when he was saying that he had two hours left with me, he only had one hour. When I realized this I tried stalling.”
“Stalling how?” Officer Bentley asked me.
“I uh, told him that I really was interested in him but I liked it mean and rough so I was waiting for him to just come and take me. It took a few minutes convincing him but once I had him believing me I was able to stall him from raping me for about half an hour.” I laughed sadly, remembering just how easy it was to trick Jared.
“He got really into the whole ‘Victoria liking it rough’ thing so after about half an hour, he told me to unbuckle his belt with my teeth and I drew the line there so when he got close enough to me, I kicked him away and I just kept on kicking him away until he grabbed the knife and told me if I kicked him away one more time he would kill me. Then he ran the knife up and down my body and he cut my neck,” I pulled my hair back showing them the cut along my throat.
“The last few minutes are a blur, I remember after he cut my neck he wedged himself between my legs and I was just trying to get him off and then Alan and the guys walked into right when he was trying to take my underwear off.” I finished. All the guys had tears in their eyes, I could tell that they looked guilty for believing Jared and judging me so harshly but I didn’t care. They are only human and humans make mistakes.
Officer Bentley then asked me if there had been any other sexual harassment situations involving before tonight; I told her everything from when I first started at Rise Records to when Jared slapped my butt as they already knew about the situation where Jared had broken my ribs.
“Okay Victoria, I think we have enough to send Jared away for a long, long time!” Officer Bentley smiled at me, “If there is anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to call.” Officer Bentley handed me a business card with a business and personal contact number printed underneath “Mary-Anne Bentley”.
“Thank you for everything” I smiled warmly at the officers as they walked out the door. It was now just me and the boys sitting in mine and Phil’s room.
“Victoria, we are so sorry” Austin whispered, Tino, Alan and Aaron agreed.
“Guys, its ok. It’s not your fault, I didn’t tell anyone apart from Phil but none of you guys could have known this was going to happen, I didn’t even see it coming.”
“Victoria, please, don’t forgive us so easily.” Tino said to me.
“But I do forgive you, I forgive you for believing Jared’s rumours. But please, just don’t beat yourselves up over it. If it’s anyone’s fault, it would be mine because I kept quiet.” I said back.
“Victoria, it would be so much easier if you just didn’t forgive us, if you were angry with us.” Alan said to me, laughing.
“Listen, we all became very close at the start of this tour, yeah? I am not about to throw away five friendships just because of a mistake. Everything is forgiven!” I smiled warmly.
“Just tell us how we can make it up to you?” Aaron asked me, speaking for the first time tonight. I had a long, hard think.
“mmmm, well, we could watch a few chick flicks and if you guys wouldn’t mind; can Alan move back into this room?” I smiled at them again.
“I’ll make popcorn!” Austin got up and went to the kitchen.
“I’ll get a DVD!” Tino left for the lounge area.
“I’ll go get my stuff!” Smiled Alan.
“I’ll pack up my stuff!” Phil said to Alan.
Aaron walked over to me as I laughed at the boys;
“Listen, I just wanted to say that I’m so sorry about what I said to you on the night of the Pierce The Veil party, I don’t even know to explain my actions. But I’m so so sorry Victoria” Aaron’s eyes became teary. I hugged Aaron tightly before he saw my eyes grow watery as well.
“Aaron, its ok. I’m not angry.” I gave him a reassuring smile and a kiss on the cheek, “How’s about you and I sit on the couches and wait for the boys to finish everything?” I grinned.
