Bones Exposed [Sequel to: Those In Glass Houses]

Jack hadn’t spoken a word to Anne since Austin told him the truth. It was the day before Warped ended and she ran a hand through her hair, Blessing playing on the floor in front of her. Jack walked to the back and looked at her, sighing.

“Can I talk to you?” He asked. Anne nodded, never looking away from Blessing before Rian came in and took her to play with the guys.

“Why did you do this?” He asked.

“It happened once and I regretted but after that it just kept happening and I no matter how bad I wanted to stop it I couldn’t. I’m sorry.” Anne wiped the tears away and Jack just watched her.

“Maybe it’s best if we just,” His hand reached for hers and slipped the engagement ring off, “call the wedding off. It’s clear that this isn’t going anywhere. I can tell you still love him and I don’t want to be in the way.” Anne watched as he pocketed the ring. She tried to say something to stop him, but she couldn’t. Jack watched as she stayed quiet and she finally looked away.

“Okay.” She whispered. Jack felt tears prickle his eyes and clenched his hands into fists.

“Aren’t you going to fight?” He asked. “You said you loved me!” He yelled. Anne cried and sat on the bed. Jack was furious, thinking that Anne would fight for what they had, but she had given up.

“I’m done fighting. I fought for Austin, I fought for you and now I’m fighting for Blessing. I can’t keep doing this.” She reached for her bags and began packing the few things she had.

“So that’s it?” Jack asked.

“We’re done and I’m done with Austin. I don’t want this anymore.” Anne wiped her tears away and pulled her bag on. She grabbed Blessing’s things and pushed past Jack, who didn’t move. Anne walked off the bus and toward the group of men who were laughing. Blessing was on Jaime’s lap and she was giggling as he fed her some Jolly Ranchers. “Blessing,” Anne called. Everyone turned to look at her and Blessing ran over and smiled at Anne.

“Mommy! Home tomorrow!” She grinned. Anne smiled and nodded.

“Yeah, we go home tomorrow.” Anne looked at the men and walked over, hugging each of them.

“You all know my number, keep in touch okay?” She smiled. Alex held her wrist when she pulled back and smiled sadly.

“We understand what’s going on. Right now, you need to know what’s best for you and Blessing.” Anne nodded and they all hugged her tightly. Anne walked back to Blessing to find Austin crouching in front of her and handing her the necklace he always wore, with the two pinkies linked together. Blessing held the necklace close to her and hugged Austin, earning a chuckle from him.

“Bye bye daddy!” Blessing waved at Austin who waved back and looked at Anne.

“I expect to see her often.” Anne nodded as he walked over and placed a hand on her cheek, looking at her closely.

“I always will love you. I’ll get the divorce done and properly show you how much you mean to me.” Anne didn’t say anything as she picked Blessing up and walked out of the venue.

A short little filler before I get too caught up in finals. I take my math on 5/12, Psychology on 5/14, and my English on 5/19. After that I'm done and everything will be great! :D
