It's Complicated

“Why aren’t we taking a car?” Alan asked as we walked out of my apartment complex.

“Because the stores down the street and it’s not like we’re getting a lot.” I put my sunglasses on and grabbed Alan’s hand. “Besides I have two men here if I need help. Not that I need a man to help me with anything. You guys are good for some extra sets of hands.” I said trying to sound like a pathetic damsel in distress.

"The more important question is how can you not have any food in your house?" Austin chimed in.

"I wasn't lying to you when I told you I had been away." I replied in defense for myself. "I was away for like two weeks."

"You don't even have cereal." Austin flailed his arms around and kind of looked like he was going to hit Alan. Alan just looked unfazed he must have been use to Austin's spasmodic movements. "Who doesn't have cereal? It never goes bad."

"I don't like cereal." Which was actually true.

Alan looked at me like he was shocked. "How can you not like cereal? That's just unamerican."

"It gets all soggy and gross." I explained. "It's a texture thing."

"Austin eats p-” Alan started but Austin's hand was over Alan's mouth in like 2.4 seconds so he couldn't finish that sentence.

"I feel like she doesn't need to know that Alan." Austin said like it was all the explanation he needed to give.

"Oh now I definitely need to know." I answered looking in between the two guys. Austin took his hand off Alan's mouth. "So who's going to tell me?"

"One of Austin's favorite saying is that the one muscle stronger than his mouth is his tongue. And let’s just say he's made plenty of girls happy." Alan said with a smirk.

"Fuck that's hot." I responded while I was trying to take it all in. Plenty of girls? That made me want to know how many girls he had been with and it kind of made me a bit...jealous? No that couldn't have been it.Alan was currently "with” me. I had no right to be jealous. "Maybe I'm with the wrong guy." I joked.

“Hey each guy has their own specialty.” Alan said defending himself.

“And what’s yours?” I smiled.

“He can’t tell you it’s against the code.” Austin chimed in.

“Then why could he tell me yours?”

Austin shrugged his shoulders. “It’s not like you’re going to sleep with me.”

Before I could say anything in response we walked into the grocery store. I grabbed a basket and started leading the way through the aisles. “So does fruit pancakes sound good to you guys?” I asked putting some pancake mix into my basket.

“And chocolate.” Alan said placing some candy bars into my basket.

“We’re not having chocolate.” I answered putting the candy on some random shelf. “Can you get me some whipped cream?” I asked Alan as I grabbed some syrup.

“Whipped cream? What do you want whipped cream for?” Austin questioned looking confused.

“For the pancakes.” I said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

“Don’t let her fool you; it’s for later.” Alan responded as he walked away to get us the whipped cream.

I rolled my eyes and continued on my way to the frozen food section. “Stop giving him ideas.” I said exasperatedly. “I don’t find sex with food to be a turn on. Everything just gets all disgusting and sticky.”

“Then that gives you a reason to take a shower together. Not that I condone that with you and Ashby. Sex should wait until marriage.” Austin explained.

“Yeah, like you totally practice that.” I answered sarcastically.

Austin looked at me questioningly. “How would you know?”

“That was pretty heavy for just a make out session the other night.” I stopped in front of the freezers and looked at the selection of fruit. “And best kiss I have had in a while.”

“You and Alan haven’t kissed?” Austin asked.

I shrugged my shoulders, “Not real kissing.Just little good night kisses, I guess. You or Shayley are normally always there butting into my love life. And last night Alan was trying to prove to me that he didn’t just want to be with me for the sex so nothing really went down.”

“Wow that sucks. I’ve been farther with you than Alan. And you’ve actually been on dates with him.” Austin said with a smirk.

“Don’t remind me.” I mumbled and a couple of seconds later my cell phone rang, signaling I had a call. I looked at it and saw that it was Andrea. “I have to take this.” I pressed send and put the phone to my ear.

“Hey Alex.” She said cheerfully.

“Hey Andrea, what’s up?” I responded.

“So I sent the photos to the company and they want to meet you. They’re hosting an event at Sunset that starts at 9:00pm and want you to come. You can even bring the guys if you want.” I could tell that she was excited.

“All right, I’ll be there.And I’ll ask them. Bye.” I said and then hung up the phone.

“What was that about?” Alan asked putting some whipped cream into the basket.

“The company that I had the photo shoot for want to meet me tonight.” I answered with a smile. It was awesome news that a company wanted to meet me. That usually meant I did a good job and that they would want me to do more shoots. “Do you guys want to come?”

“Of course I’m coming.I’m going to be your eye candy.” Alan said with a smile.

I laughed, “Oh, okay.So are you coming?" I looked at Austin and he looked like he was thinking about it. “Andrea said that both of you were allowed to come.”

“I have other things I need to do tonight.” He finally answered.

“I thought you were spending the day with us?” I asked. “Are you ditching us for something more interesting?I feel somewhat hurt!”

“I have some business for the band that I have to take care of.” Austin answered.

“Fine…I’ll take that.” I grabbed some fruit and headed for the cash registers.
