I was all for you

Alan, Kyler, Austin and Beth were all waiting anxiously in the hospital waiting room. Alex had had a brain aneurism and the doctors didn't know what her status was.

"Alan, buddy, she'll be okay. She's a strong woman." Austin said, trying to reassure his friend.

"Ya, Alan, it'll....it'll be okay." Beth said, holding back tears of her own, Alex had been her friend since grade 8. Alex was Beth's rock, she kept her relatively sane in her world full of chaos. She wasn't ready to loose her, but Beth knew she had to stay strong for the sake of Alan and Kyler. All four were sitting in the waiting room in silence until a doctor came in.

"Which one of you is Mr.Ashby?" The doctor asked.

Alan, stood up, and handed Kyler to Beth.

"I am." He said

"Could we speak outside for a moment?" The doctor asked.

Alan nodded and followed him out the doors into the quiet hospital hall.

"So mr.Ashby your here for Alexandra Marth I belive?" The doctor asked,

"Yes, I am. How is she?" Alan asked

"Were sorry to tell you that she will not make the night. We are giving her about 3 hours..... The brain aneurism ruptured blood cells and she's bleeding internally. She's fully conscience but if she falls asleep, she won't be waking up. I'd advise you to go and be with her now." The doctor said.

Alan could hardly process what was going on, his time with her had been reduced from 4 months to 3 hours.

"I'm going to go to her room, but there's three other people that need to say goodbye." Alan said.

He walked back to the room and told Beth and Austin what the doctor told him. Beth started sobbing into Austin's shirt, and Austin looked confused.

"We have to go see her now." Alan said, picking up Kyler from Beth's arms.

The four of them walked to Alex's room and Alan was surprised to see Alex looking so alert.

"Baby, baby, hi."Alan said, running to Alex with tears in his eyes.

"Alan.... Kyler.Beth.... Austin... Oh my god.....I'm so sorry." Alex said in a quiet hoarse voice. "The doctors told me.... I" Alex began to say.

"Alex, don't be sorry. Listen me and Austin went out, and I wanted to do this under better circumstances, but I need to be able to call you my wife. Alex, will you take this ring?" Alan said, pulling out the turquoise Tiffany box with the ring.

"Alan, but..." Alex started to cry.

"Baby, I just love you so much and I don't want to live without you. I wanted to live and get married and grow old together.... Alex I love you" Alan said sobbing.

"Yes... Yes Alan. I'll he your wife." Alex said, nodding.

Alan handed Kyler to Alex and slid the ring onto her tiny frail fingers. Her last hours were spent talking to the people In The room, thinking about all their memories together, but then the moment finally came.

"Alan.... It's happening.... I.... I love you and Kyler. Tell him our story. Don't leave out anything, including the bad times. It's okay for you to love again. I promise. Don't worry baby, it's only goodbye for a little while...." Alex whispered.

Before Alan could say anything back, her eyes closed softly and the beeping in the room went wild. Doctors came running in, but Alan was in a daze. Alex was gone forever.
