I sat back on the sofa and pulled the bag up onto my lap. I saw Tony walk in the front lounge and he smiled at me. He sat next to me and I rested my head on his shoulder. "What you doing?" Tony asked.
"Packing my bag for hospital," I said casually.
"Oh, is it really that soon," he frowned.
"According to my midwife. In two weeks time I'll be classed as full term. So the baby could come any time," I explained.
"What do we do if it happens?" Tony asked seriously.
"Well, you don't need to get hot towels," I teased.
"You know what I mean,"
"You grab my bag and take me to the hospital,"
"Who do I call?" he rushed.
"Um . . . Mike. Vic should know. Then Jaime and Abby and Matty and Alan. Oh and Vincent and Vivian and my mum,"
"Shall I just alert everybody you've ever fucking met?" he laughed.
"Might be easier, Tone,"
"So what needs to go into your bag?" he suddenly asked.
"Mike went out with the list," I told him.
"I'm here," Mike announced. He walked in holding bags of shopping. He set them down on the floor with the list. "Where's Vic?" he asked.
"With Abby," I told him.
"Where's Abby?"
"On a date with Vic,"
"Where's Jaime,"
"With them. He's making sure they behave," I explained. "Anyway, what did you get?" I asked excitedly.
"Everything on the list," he grinned. Mike emptied all of the bags out and handed me things. "You already have the changes of clothes. Right?" he asked.
"Yeah," I nodded and showed him the clothes in the bag.
"I went to buy the weird bra,"
"Why's it weird?" Tony asked.
"Because it isn't sexy. Kay' wears sexy underwear to make me horny. But this is just white and like those bras girls used to wear in gym class but even thicker," he explained. I took it from him and wrinkled my nose, but put it in my bag. "And I had no idea what size to get. So I told the lady that before you got pregnant I could hold your boob in my hand with some leftover. And I have big hands. But I told her now they're really big I have even more left over so she gave me that one," Mike explained.
"Oh God," I muttered and put my head in my hands.
"You did that?" Tony laughed.
"Yeah, the lady was really nice about it as well,"
"You know my bra size, Mike! You made a song about it," I sighed.
"Oh yeah," he smiled fondly. "Double D's,"
"Shut up," I muttered. "Tell no one,"
"I already knew," Tony shrugged.
"How?"
"Mike told everyone after he touched them for the first time and guessed your size right,"
"Thanks," I told them dryly.
"Anyway, I got three of them," he told me and passed me the others. "And I got those sanitary pads you asked for. Which was really weird because if you make me buy stuff it's usually tampons. And tampons seem so much nicer,"
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"According to the pack you just take the thing off and put the sticky part on your underwear and that's it. But then you'd have to take it off afterward and it just seems really unhygienic," Mike told me seriously. "But with tampons you just open it and pull the thing and then put it in and press the thing and then it comes out. So it's kind of like you have a guy who's got a really small dick in you, I think,"
"I don't get it," Tony frowned.
"Hang on, I'll get one of Kay''s from the bathroom," Mike said quickly.
"You have to be joking," I grumbled. Mike came back a second later with a tampon.
"See," Mike told him. He opened it and pulled the bottom out so he could push it out. "It's really easy. And none of the icky stuff goes anywhere. But with pads you're just sitting in it," he explained.
"Oh I get it," Tony smiled. Mike reached in the bag and got out a open pad.
"Why do you have this?" I asked.
"I got curious in the cab in the way back," he shrugged. Mike showed Tony and they started to touch it. I reached and threw it away from them.
"Next?" I asked.
"I got you loads of travel stuff. Like mini shampoos. Oh and a new toothbrush," he smiled. "And a sponge," he handed them to me.
"Why a sponge?" Tony asked. "Will you have to mop things up?"
"No, it's just for her head. The midwife said Kay' is going to sweat a lot," he explained.
"Thank you," I rolled my eyes.
"I got you a waffle robe and some slippers. And I got my boy something to wear once he's born," he told me and handed them to me. "And I brought a blanket," he explained.
"Diapers?" I asked.
"Here," he threw them to me.
"Is that everything?" Tony asked.
"Yeah," I nodded. Then the door opened and Vic, Abby and Jaime walked in. Jaime started screaming and we looked over.
"Ahh! It's on my foot! Ew!" he yelled.
"What?" I asked. I looked and saw he had the pad on his foot.
"It's dirty! I'm going to get a STI!"
"Shut up," Abby giggled.
"I have herpes!"
"Hey," Oli said and walked inside. He looked at Jaime oddly and came over to me. "I brought little Fuentes a present," he told me. He handed me a bag and inside I found a Drop Dead baby vest.
"He doesn't mean you, Vic," I teased. "This is great! Thanks Oli," I beamed and hugged him.
"No problem," he smiled. "What's up with you, man?" Oli asked Jaime.
"I'm going to die," he said easily.
"You only catch stuff if the fluid goes inside you. Not on your foot. And by the way, you're wearing shoes," Oli said.
"Oh yeah," Jaime sighed. Abby bent down and picked it up. Jaime looked at her in thanks before she stuck it to his forehead.
