I'm Not That Perfect

Twenty; Tired of Hiding

Watching Austin and his cousins play football was beyond endearing. My favourite thing about Austin was how he got so absorbed into everything he did.
"He’s happy, you know." Robert said, pulling me from my thoughts. He was sitting beside me outside, watching the guys.
I looked over at him. “Yeah?”
"With you, I mean. He’s never been a good liar. Why are you keeping it secret?" He asked.
I sighed. “We’re both people with lives that other people see just about every moment of. It’s just kind of scary to think about coming out about everything. His fans especially can be very… unkind. Most of them are absolutely lovely, don’t get me wrong, but there’s always going to be some girl who hates me because she’s set on marrying him. We wouldn’t want him to lose fans or anything. We haven’t really talked about going public, it’s just kind of an unspoken thing.”
"He’s happy." Robert repeated. "I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen him this happy. I would know. So nobody knows? You haven’t told the guys or anything?"
"I figure they already know. But we haven’t told anyone officially." I replied.
"You ought to. He doesn’t like hiding things." He said.
"Dad! When are we going to decorate the tree?" Austin whined, running over.
"We were waiting on you." Rob said.
"Oh. Right." Austin said, picking me up and throwing me over his shoulder.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"To decorate the tree, stupid." He replied, ducking so that he could get through the door. "You look cute today by the way."
"Thanks." I said, reaching down and slapping his ass.
He set me down and raised his eyebrows. “You should stop being naughty, Avery.”
"Do something, bitch." I shot back.
"You’re feisty today. I like it." Austin nodded. "I will do something, you just wait.”
"Time to decorate? I already put the lights on. All the other young ones are out playing so you can do it however you want." Aunt Lisa called on her way outside.
"It’s just us then." Austin said. "Jesus, we have way too many ornaments."
"Let’s do this then," I grinned, reaching down into the box and pulling out a silver ball ornament and hooking it on one of the branches. "What are you doing?"
"I’m putting you in instagram." He replied.
"Austin-"
"I’m tired of hiding." He said shortly. "I don’t give two shits if anyone cares if you’re here. I don’t give two shits if anyone cares if we’re together. I care about you and that’s about it."
austincarlile: my baby decorating our tree. love being home for Christmas
You don’t think the guys will be pissed off because you didn’t tell them?” I asked.
"Ave, babe, it’s been kind of obvious." Austin chuckled. "Here, I’ll help. Our first Christmas together is going pretty well, don’t you think?"
