I arrived at Austin's home. He came up to me, and even before I introduced myself, he gave me a big hug. "I'm Austin. You're always welcome here!" He had the kindest smile.
"Hi, big bro. I'm Marie."
"Come on inside. Let's talk about your mom."

I didn't want to but I told Austin pretty much my life story. About how my mom got drunk a lot and she had abusive men over whenever she was drunk. They would hit the both of us for a long time, leave, and then mom would try to get better, but she would always get drunk again.

"I'm so so sorry that you've had to deal with this. If anyone tries to hurt you here, I won't have it."
"Thanks... I guess." I was a little weirded out. I had only just met the guy. I was not good at trusting people. "So, I should be going." I said.
"Um... how about no. You're staying here, if you want of course. Spare bedroom upstairs?"
"That... that would be nice. Thanks."
