What Daddy Doesn't Know

Alan's pov.
I awoke to the squeak of the hospital door opening. I looked and saw the doctor coming in. He smiled then looked at the bed, where Katie was. She looked so at peace when she slept. The doctor cleared his throat, bringing me from my daze.

"Can I speak to you in the hall, Mr. Ashby? As to not wake Katie." I nodded and stood. The still unnamed doctor held the door open for me. I looked at him, he looked stressed.

"Ms. Carlile is going to be per say very emotional and hormonal from the surgery." I shrugged not seeing why I needed to know this.

The doctor sighed, "I just wanted to warn you just in cause you were wondering." He turned and walked off. I went back into the room shrugging of what just happened.

Katie was awake when I walked in. I smiled at her happy to know that she was here, alive and breathing.

"Where have you been?" She asked.

"The doctor wanted to talk me." I answered. She scoffed.

"Sure you weren't with your girlfriend?" She shot at me. Now I know what the doctor meant. I frowned and said,

"Yes, you're the only girl that I want." I walked over to her bed and grabbed her hand, smiling at her. She rolled her eyes. She reached for her phone, pulling her hand from mine and started texting. I tried to see who she was texting, but she just turned her phone away. I just sighed and left to go to the food court. As I was walking I saw the doctor I talked to earlier walking toward me, looking at charts.

"Doctor!" I yelled and jogged to him. He turned to me and sighed shoulder slumping.

"Hey, um is there a way to get Katie to not be like hormonal?" I asked. He shook his head,

"It will wear off as her brain gets used to the results of the surgery. Does that answer your question?" I nodded. I turned and went back to the room, food forgotten.

I opened the door and saw Austin sitting, talking to Katie. Cali was sitting down on Katie's lap. When Katie saw me she stopped laughing at what Cali had said and scoffed. Austin looked me confused. I shrugged and went to Cali,

"Hey baby girl." She looked at me scared and went to cuddle into Katie's chest. Why the fuck does everyone hate me!
