The Beginning

It's Time To Be Famous

"Get the hell off me!" I shout at the stranger and I push them from me.

"Just one dance?" the stranger offers.

"No way, leave me alone." I spit.

"C'mon babe, don't be such a tease." the stranger, who I could now identify as a man, laughs; he is clearly drunk.

"I don't want to dance, and if you don't leave I will call for security!" I threaten.

I feel Colby at my side, carefully guiding me away from the man, but he keeps coming towards me.

"Maybe your friend would like to dance?" he asks, reaching for me.

"I believe the little lady said no." another male voice calls out.

I look behind the drunk to see the tattooed man Austin walking towards us. A crowd has now circled around us.

"Naw, she's just playing around." the drunk wheezes.

"No means no. Hasn't anyone told you that?" Austin asks and the crowd stays silent.

"Don't talk to me that way, who the fuck do you think you are?" the drunk challenges.

"I'm Austin Carlile and I don't appreciate you talking to me that way." Austin growls, grabbing the drunk by the collar of his shirt.

"S-stop!" I shout, breaking free from Colby's grasp and running towards the two men.

"Get back to your friend kid, this isn't about you." Austin spits, facing the drunk once again.

"Stop means stop." I reply holding my ground, "I don't need your help."

"Clearly you do or you would never have gotten into this club in the first place." Austin scoffs, "Call for security."

One of the men who was originally with Austin in the VIP lounge nods and quickly scampers off.

"I don't want to ever see you here again," Austin threatens the drunk, "And if I do, we'll have a real problem."

Austin lets go of the drunks collar and two security guards come to take him away. Now he turns to me.

"Maybe this isn't the place for you." he says softly, eyeing the exit of The Rave.

"I'm not leaving, not now at least." I reply stubbornly.

"Well, don't come crying to me when one of these men really do hurt you little lady." Austin glares.

"Don't worry, I wasn't planning on it." I sneer.

"Austin?" the man who went to find security calls out, "You're up."

"Thanks Oli." Austin replies, pushing his way past me and heading toward the empty stage.

The crowd of people disperse and become a mosh pit, pushing me and Colby towards the front, so now I'm right under Austin. He grabs the microphone in front of him and music starts playing in the background.

I believe it's time for me to be famous,
And out of place.
I believe it's time for me to move forward,
When I break through.

This time I'll, make you,

Proud to see me over, come on daylight.

Proud of, who you raised.

Your shelter, your peacefulness.

So this time I'll make you proud.

Proud of, who you raised up.
You know that I will,
Always be here 'til the end.

Come back so I can say thank you for this,
Home cooked meals and a place to rest,
My troubled head when you're away,
I've passed the test, I've earned an A,
Not just in school, but in life,
You'll always be right by my side.
To help me show, hope to all,
That are lost and sick in this dying world.
I'll use the love you left behind,
I'll change their minds, I'll change their minds.

I hope, I hope you smile,
When you look down on me.
I hope you smile.

This can't, we won't know.
I hope that I make you proud.

This is not what it is, only baby scars.
I need your love like a boy needs his mother's side.

This is not what it is, only baby scars.
I need your love like a boy needs his mother's side.

This is not what it is, only baby scars.
I need your love like a boy needs his mother's side, yeah.

Before I know it I am swaying to the beat of the bass and practically humming along. I look up and Austin to find him staring down at me. A smile creeps up onto his face and he drops the microphone at his feet before leaving the stage.

I look around to realise that he is nowhere to be seen. I sigh and turn to Colby who looks half asleep.

"Let's go." I mumble, walking with her to the exit.

I don't look back.
