"Colby?" Jake asks, sounding worried.

"J-Jake? What are you doing here?" Colby asks in shock.

"I started getting worried when you weren't at your dorm last night and you wouldn't answer your phone!" Jake exclaims, letting out a small sigh.

"Well, I figured that when we got into the fight you wouldn't be searching for me." Colby explains, her features softening under Jake's worried eyes.

Jake shoots me a sideways glance but then turns back to Colby, "Why would you think that I wouldn't worry over you?"

"I didn't mean that..." Colby trails off.

"I love you Colby and always will." Jake states, and Colby knows that he's being truthful.

"It's not that, I mean, I've waited this long for you to even look at me in the ways that you do now." Colby starts.

"And now it's my turn to wait for you, and I will wait as long as it takes until you are completely mine." Jake replies with a small smile.

"Jake, I want to marry you, I honestly do; but see, I don't want to wait even more but now with the worry of whether you'll ever come home." Colby says carefully wording her thoughts.

"Colby, I am willing to give up the idea of joining the Navy, you are way more important to me." Jake responds innocently, "Now, once again, will you marry me?"

Colby sits in silence for a moment and I automatically decide that she is declining on his proposal, but then I hear the sobs.

"Of course Jake, of course!" she cries, jumping up from our small table and practically leaping into his arms.

I sigh in happiness and congratulate Colby on her engagement.

"Oh, Sophia, we have so much to do to get ready!" Colby gushes, pulling me into a hug.

Then I see it. The image before me. I saw, for the first time, what I wanted. The happiness Jake and Colby have, and I would do whatever it takes to make it mine. I will not let that image ever leave my grasp.
